I think you are using the wrong corn... try a dry flower corn.. soak it in water for two days in the refrigerator then strain and dry with paper towels... deep fry and enjoy
I tried with fresh corn, which I soaked in water for few hours, dried them then fried them. they came out amazing. I made them extra salty, but you adjust that with every try
A food dehydrator might help? Perhaps drying them most of the way, then frying for a cpl min to add color? I've no idea if it'd work, but if yours are soft inside, then maybe a food dehydrator is the answer??
I love corn nuts. I don’t like working with hot oil. I am terrified of it. Lol. My mom used to fry everything and I got splattered so many times. I always watched her cooking. Lol. Great videos and so nice to meet y’all!
Thank you for this video! I've never made corn nuts before, but I have made jerky and dehydrated fruit. A lot of the videos I've watched talked about using sweet corn, but I was telling my daughter, I think it was made of hominy, so that's a reassuring fact. I would say, in my honest opinion, although, I've never made corn nuts, but you might need more oil because I think spacing is key. That's something I've learned from baking and dehydrating in general. Thanks for the great video :-)
@@jillshomesteadexperience6706 No, you don't. The igniter knob that you turn creates it's own spark just like on a grill. And even on a stove like I have in my house that does use power to make the spark I can still light each burner with a match when the power goes out. Try it and see.
I love corn nuts but never though to make them myself! I have to ask what hominy is though!? hahaha That's totally why you have dogs (especially with kids!) Bugger they didn't turn out!
Hominy is corn that has been soaked in lye water to remove the shell then soaked in clean water it puffs up, in mexico they call it posole, maybe you have heard of that?
Do you think the reason it’s not crunchy is because you started out with homney then deep fried? I’ve watched several videos on making these and it seems the homney is dry roasted in an iron skillet, or start with dried corn, soak, dry then fry in oil.
@@jillshomesteadexperience6706 hi, i like the way you genuinely said your recipe has actually not worked. But people who were watching till the end were hoping ita a perfect recipe. So when my hopes failed, i could only laugh at myself for not skipping a second if the recipe till that point.
It's painful to see someone complain that they can't use an electric can opener... If u had a job in a kitchen where u opening 200 cans a day for something. I would understand the need. Or if you are disabled. I'm sorry but to open a can using even the most cheapest can opener does not take that much effort,
You know what.... I liked that you gave an honest review of your own food. You get a thumbs up from me and I dont give them to anyone.

Do u think peaches and cream corn would work?
Sounds yummy 🤤 I hope it does for you. I would dehydrate them first because corn has a lot of liquid in them. Good luck 🍀👍🏻

Why do you need power to cook on a propane stove in a camper?
To ignite the stove you need power. Thank you for watching.

You probably can. They will probably come out crunchier Than you for watching.

Sandra Newton Thank you for your suggestion. I’ll try that way.
Is that a car?
Maybe dehydrate them overnight first. How about baking them, Deep frying actually holds moisture in.
I did dry them for 2 nights on a paper towel. then I fried them today. Thank you for the suggestion.
