It has been a privilege of mine to be a student of, and I dare say friend of Soke Cheek for several years. He has taught police forces armies and other professional security forces around the world. The real deal, one of the best martial artists alive. He teaches self defense, I shudder to think what his capabilities would be in a real war time combat scenario.

A great master. In the Book of Five Rings, it says that the greatest swordsman in Japan doesn’t fear the second best swordsman, he fears the unknown swordsman. To this end, many years ago I remember seeing Bryan Cheek being thrown by a student from another martial art, a young black guy. A great achievement to found an international organisation, which will leave a lasting legacy. Even narrow minded people are capable of creating something that overcomes their own narrow prejudices. Hope the old fart keeps going.

JJJ and Karate have a bit of overlap. From what I understand it's Okinawa style Karate and some JJJ inspired techniques fused into one. Similar is the combat SAMBO - fusion of JJJ, central Asian wrestling, and elements of Karate.

Serius cuestion: Juko-ryu is a traditional japanese jujutsu style? Or it is a mix of other martial arts done by this man?
In case of being a real JJJ style: What specific koryu does this man learned? Who was his master? Were does he learned it?

What’s with these westerners inventing their own martial arts and giving themselves the title of soke? It seems that all these cases at best they might be a black and something most of the time they’re not even a black belt than anything. They just do a little bit of this a little bit of that mix together and then promote themselves. Soke is a legally protected title in Japan, and while right now I can think of at least one koryu in Japan, where a Westerner indeed inherited it in Japan, but I am not aware of anyone who’s inherited a legitimate Japanese art outside of Japan. In any case, it’s not that difficult to watch through these techniques and see what arts were mixed together to make it.

Why? MMA is a sport. Think about it. There are rules.
This here is an art form. It doesn’t need to be proven wrong or right. It’s nothing more than a demonstration of a classical art. Enjoy it for what it is.
Personally, I think it’s kind of a silly demonstration. Especially when the guy hurts his hand. Wow.
I don’t think much of this stuff is useful for self defense either. Especially not today. The same goes for MMA. You are going to get killed if you think MMA training will help you on the street. Don’t buy into all the hype.
