What people did not catch, RM was asked "Will you produce a WHOLE ALBUM in English". Well, up to this day they never release a full-English album yet. They were just English singles which are just included in a whole album (with Korean songs).

Thank you for showing that these 3 songs are special and meaningful in their own ways and their “simplicity” does not mean they matter less. People will go on and on how BTS’ music has helped them through bad times but then bash these songs as “empty fluff”. It is just as important to celebrate joy, happiness and fun, as it is to sing about difficult subjects.

100% agree. I hear too many rumors of old armies saying "BTS are not what they used to be", "Now they make music to be famous", "These songs don't make sense, they are only commercial"
I approached BTS in 2021, and I love their English songs from the very beginning.
growing up as an army I later realized that actually their korean songs are better (for production and lyrics and BTS music style), but it's still not an excuse to despise these 3 songs. Those are very catchy, even the lyrics are not so deep they are still very interesting (especially Dynamite) and they made a big breakthrough for the group. And BTS clearly stated that they did it only to spread joy during the pandemic, they themselves didn't believe Dynamite would be successful LOL.
And as Boracity says, they did many more Korean songs in their usual style after those songs. It really makes me laugh that many armies have left the fandom just for this, in my opinion they never really understood their message.

Personally I love Dynamite, Butter and PTD, the pandemic was an extremely tough time for BTS, armys and almost everyone in the world out there. As artists, who love to perform for their fans, having their biggest world tour cancelled and to have no idea when things would get back to normal, these 3 songs were absolutely necessary. I’m glad bts chose to do these songs for armys and other people even when they themselves were going through tough times 💜

Listen, guys, it's okay to not like some of their songs. It's quite common to not like all the songs your favourite artists have released - especially artists with such a wide discography like BTS.
I, for one, am grateful for the English trilogy cos those were the first of their songs I listened to, and I loved them instantly.
They are not my favourite songs, but I still like them.
Dynamite is definitely unskippable for me [ I have listened to it so much that I was worried I would end up hating it, but I still like it 😂]
Yes, their artistry shines a lot more in their other songs. BE album, for example, has some of my all- time favourites (Telepathy 😍), and it was released in between Dynamite and Butter.
If anything, these songs served their purpose. They were released to put a bit of joy and a spark of hope in the dreary world covid brought and they did exactly that and more so we shouldn't look at them through the same lens as most of their other songs.
Anyway, what I'm saying is that, whether you like these songs or not, they are neither bad nor poorly produced, and it doesn't mean everyone should like it.
It's a matter of your preference, and we should accept it and call it what it is.
I see a huge portion of the fandom mixing up their personal preferences with objective facts, which is not the way to do things.
Anyway, Dynamite deserved that Grammy, in my opinion, but haters will hate 😤

I was out of fandom during the onset of the pandemic and for the most part of it (so I missed the english songs trilogy and the Be album, which I caught up on last October when I got back to the fandom) but when I learned about the crazy surge in popularity and the singles and all, it didn't really phase me. So what they released songs in english, to me it seemed more like they were doing the English speaking communities a favor, or like, returning their welcome. smth like, "ok you welcomed us, you were open to seeing what we're made of, here's a couple songs in english for your better understanding and learning of the lyrics" -kinda like a cultural exchange of sorts, if it makes sense... and I expected them to go back to Korean in no time. I didn't understand why people were like, "they're sellouts now" I mean...Have they heard BE????? Like, wait a little until you make all those assumptions, when BTS starts releasing only full albums in English that's when you _MAY_ have a reason to complain, and even then let's wait and see whether they are singing from the heart or not. If they're not, then ok, they're sellouts.
Btw, great point about the all-Japanese songs! It had never occurred to me before, but you are so right!

Life Goes On And BE ALBUM was my first Comeback And at may 2020 My mother and my grandfather passed away i was really going into depression to be honest BTS really cured my depression through their songs, lyrics, Dance, Messages and everything i really enjoyed my journey of becoming ARMY and i am so thankful to BTS i really want to meet them and want to attend their concert once in my life.

When you are on a BTS themed RUclips video, never be ashamed to express all your feelings. 99.9% of ARMY members are not judgmental and we all have different stories about how we discovered and learned to love the boys. I've read hundreds of comments on these videos and many express their gratitude for BTS songs pulling them out of depression or helping them deal with some stressful event in their life. Your story is typical and the great thing about their fans is that many of them, like me, are older, not teenagers normally associated with K-Pop music. Their theme is how to deal with life's problems, get along with each other and be happy. Everyone needs and wants these things so their message is universal. Their stories are inspiring and gratifying and awe inspiring. The hard work they put in to get where they are is astounding. And the thing that makes them so lovable is that they are all really great people who set a good example for all of us. Welcome to ARMY. So sorry about your mother and grandfather. Your comment was perfectly OK.

I am happy that the English songs got them more airplay and I enjoy them but I don’t enjoy them as much as other songs in their discography. I am also happy if these songs brought people into the fandom and introduced them to all of their work. Unfortunately, some people will never listen to their Korean songs…I say unfortunately because I do believe that they demonstrate more of their own thoughts, feelings and outstanding lyricism in these songs. The Be album was also my first comeback album and it makes me a little sad that it was overshadowed by Dynamite and then butter. The whole album is perfectly put together from a gentle introduction with the melancholic Life Goes On through to the upbeat Dis-ease and finishing with the energetic happiness of Dynamite. The fact that they wrote and produced this album in the same year that they released Map of the Soul 7 as well as an online concert, 2 single releases and countless other activities makes it even more amazing. I hope it doesn’t get labeled as ‘just the pandemic album’ (Army never would) because it’s actually so much more than that.

Dynamite was genuinely the most exciting thing for me for that awful year. Honestly these 3 songs (specially butter) are the whole reason why I started listening to music
In August 2021 I had an internship, where at end I mostly had to write on my computer and because I was in a office with lots of discussion, I did searched for some music on RUclips to concentrate better.
I started with ABBA and Queen, which I knew because of my mum 😅. And then thanks to the algorithm I saw the butter MV I klicked on it and listened and then to dynamite and so on ... I fell into the rabbit hole 😁.
Right after I was done for the day I searched more, watched bangtan bomb and so on ...
They gave me a whole new appreciation for music with there lyrics and artistry. Since then I do listen to more music (but mostly BTS 😁😅)
So if these 3 songs weren't there I probably wouldn't be ARMY and even still ignore music.
And by the way I love to dance to these songs 💃🕺if I am down

As someone who loves the English songs (don’t even get me started on butter, the first time I heard it I was in love 😍), it always infuriates me when I see people calling them trash, saying that they’ve lost what makes them special, all they care about is winning a Grammy, etc. This is all false. The guys have reaffirmed their love for armys on vlive so many times despite them losing twice. The lyrics of these songs are not meant to be deep or meaningful, that’s the point. They’re just meant to be fun summer songs. It’s undoubtedly true that their Korean songs showcase their artistry more, and I definitely think Namjoon feels this way as evidenced by festa. And dynamite and butter, while I enjoy them, are not as deserving of a Grammy as songs like black swan for example. But it’s also a shame because these songs don’t fully encapsulate the depth of their lyricism, and perpetuate the stereotype that they just make auto tuned bubblegum pop music and are not real artists. But it’s ironic that the gp in the us won’t even consider delving deeper into their discography, as their songs are primarily in Korean. That’s also infuriating, but unfortunately how foreign music is perceived in these western countries.

I have been an army since 2020, at that time I have been bullied from a bunch of old army's and some K-pop Stan's who use to be army until those 3 English songs came out bc of first being a baby army ofc, second my fav song was dynamite at the time, and being in love w those 3 English songs. I do still love their 3 English song I think there a bop, but I do think that their songs in Korean songs a better now.
I want to say this to both those old army's and K-pop Stan's. Just bc they made a songs in English doesn't mean there is a problem w it, just bc BTS are Korean doesn't mean they only have to sing in Korean in order to sound good Idk why y'all don't have a problem w their Japanese songs or y'alls favs songs in English as a problem, but then found BTS's 3 English songs. Just bc an army's fav song was Dynamite, butter of PTD doesn't make them baby army's or non army's, and surprisingly those 3 English songs are oh not meaningless oh they do have meaning to those song if you can read their lyrics.
To both baby army's and others. Don't listen to what those old army's, K-pop Stan's or maybe even haters say to you don't make them seem like you should be a shamed of yourself by joining the fandom due to those 3 English songs, don't be afraid of streaming BTS's 3 English songs, stop making it seem like you shouldn't be playing those 3 English songs and then play someone else songs, and let's go stream their both English songs and their other songs

I was so excited for the release of these three songs, but I recall the way my heart sank on my first hearing each one. I was filled with dismay. However, I completely supported their decision to release songs fully in English - why on earth would they NOT do that, particularly at that time? I also took on board their intention to make songs simply to cheer people up, and accepted the fact that, for many people, these worked.
With time I have come to love the songs, not least because in a way I think they represent a particular gift to ARMYs and others. At that time when so many had too much to think about, instead of following what might well be the instinct to make deep thought-provoking words, they quite deliberately chose to do something different, and kept their tongues firmly in cheeks. There's a generosity to that.
It would never occur to me that they would continue to issue full-English songs. I am glad to say that their own culture and language are far too important to them, and I applaud that. Too much of what we hear and see in the media has become homogenised and lacking not only in real meaning, but also in identity. It avoids reference to anything thought of as specific to one place/time and thus lacks power.
Even if I don't understand the significance of some of BTS' words, I enjoy finding out - and that process of learning enhances the power. Thus Hobi's verse in Ma City will always have me mentally punching the air.
I have my own culture, too, very specific to the Highlands of Scotland, and most of the world will not identify with it. That's OK - surprising numbers around the world do, and then the personal becomes the universal, indeed it is the only thing that does.
And the songs, whether in Gaelic or in English, will bring our history once more into my throat, and remind me .... "what a time for a people rising..."

I want to ask your opinion on what RM said during the 2022 festa.
He said that they were going to end their 1st chapter after ON. So then pandemic came up so they did dynamite.
RM said the group changed after ON and dynamite. Suga said they don't regret anything. And of course i won't regret the things happen after dynamite either because BTS had more success.
From the comments they made in the festa i understand that they don't regret these things but also want to go back to their roots like RM said in his vlive because they lost their way. I think that has to do with their English singles and stuff like all the promotional activities they did after that too.
Also i think regarding many things came after dynamite had to do with the business side as well. It looked like the guys don't want to go along with that.
As RM said they could keep doing things like that but they want to grow as people and artists.
It really impressed me because if it was any other celebrity they would take advantage of that kind of popularity and do meaningless things. But these guys really care about being sincere and good artists . So they made this decision.
Even maybe their company want them to keep going like that but they want to be real and develop themselves and their craft. I really admire that.
The festa also looked like they won something too.
Last too years promotions were fine but they must have been exhausted.
Suga said their group vibe is more like we are bullet proof and mic drop but it was dynamite that is famous.
What i understand is that they wanted to organise themselves and take some time after ON but the pandemic didn't let them. And we know the rest. They got exhausted from lot of things and I'm glad they are free now.

@@blossom6693 It was a year since i wrote that comment. By now so many things happened and i got to know the things better. I loved everything they did. We need fun simple songs too. Something in kpop groups i noticed is that their song lyrics can be very lame and meaningless. It doesn't matter to do a simple song. But just write it carefully. So many songs I've seen from majority of kpop is just lame. Lyrics doesn't make sense. With BTS their simple songs make sense and written in a organised way. So its ridiculous when other kpop fans make fun of BTS specially English songs. They are well made pop songs.
If it's not their taste then they don't need to listen. If some people left after them it's fine too. I agree. They should mind their business if they left.
Some points in the og comment I'm not sure now. They did the best at those moments. I love and miss those eras now. The business part i talked about I'm don't think so now. BTS always had artistic freedom. They did what they could do at then. It's just that.
Solo projects now are amazing and important too. ARMY should stay together and trust BTS as they asked us. Solo stans are behaving worse now since its solo projects era. This is why we need to trust BTS and their decisions.

I was part of those who almost ''hated'' these songs for the reasons mentioned and disliked when people always brought up these songs when I say I listen to BTS, but the way you put it from 9:01 to 10:07 made me see these songs in another light. Specially PTD. I enjoyed these songs, but didn't like that they now represent what bts is for the POV of ''locals'', but I realise now that it is not a bad thing. I just misunderstood BTS' intentions for these songs. They wanted something that would reach people in a positive way during worldwide difficult times, and they succeeded. They really touched people beyond what army already was. And that's beautiful.

Heyyy, i'm sorta late but as i was watching this, i had a realization that a good many of us armies found and started to look into BTS around the english trilogy era, and honestly if you're not a hardcore fan or if your feed doesn't pop out BTS interviews, you wouldn't really know why the guys released such songs, as you know, bts blew up and armies started to explain how BTS is so amazing and that they have great music and all that, so after seeing all those comments, imagine checking out BTS just to find out that they released yet another happy but "less meaningfull" song and then another. During this time, as you pointed out, there were already a lot of frivolous songs, and you'd hear them almost EVERYWHERE, so some folks (sorta like myself) probably just got tired and felt a bit disappointed cus the group that was said to be SOOO amazing was releasing the same old frivolous music that everyone else was. This is probably what led some baby armies to slowly leave the fandom or what led other people to get disinterested. This almost got me cuz i joined the army late luckily i'd listened to a few songs like fire, save me, mic drop, spring day, anpanman etc. I was a bit disappointed myself but they'd already piqued my interest so i stayed. I'm still here so yeah! (Sorry for the long comment😅😅)

I agree 100%. Ignore the haters as they will always find faults and things to hate on regardless of what 7 Kings decide to do.
This goes for Korean and Non Koreans haters. Look what scandals they created just because they announced they wanted to do solo projects. Best thing for ARMY is ignore those liars & haters and clout chasers. We believe what our 7 Kings tell us. They will always be honest with us and that should be good enough. If that's not good enough for you, you don't deserve to be call or be part of ARMY.

one thing to note: those who harass people on tiktok for using BTS songs are not ARMY. Like every time you go to check them out, they're kpop stans - which make sense, kpop stans have that mentality of "i listen to this to feel like a special snowflake so i get jealous if other people find out but i somehow still want my faves to be successful so i can brag over other group", but it's also part of a major problem many of them trying to make it so that BTS don't gain even more popularity, bc then, for how they see it, there's no chance for other groups to survive
they're a mess - go ask them simple things which actual ARMY know and it's crickets

Their english songs arent my favorite, but it has never been because they are "sellouts". i did sometimes think that they were focusing more on english songs due to the grammy's, which made me more frustrated on their behalf than anything else cause grammy's didnt reward them no matter how hard they worked. I do prefer their korean songs, because i feel the lyrics are much better and beautifully written than their english ones, most likely because they are in a language they are more comfortable with and they get to be more deeply involved in the writing process. I felt i was supported in thinking this by how life goes on, film out, and their entire Be album were superior to the english 3 and more deserving of the grammy nominations (in my personal opinion, ofcourse). But i have never begrudged them that, because its still bts songs, and they were still really good songs. but these accusations of being sellouts are ridiculous and without basis. Bts has always been proud of their roots and their language, and have never shied away from saying so. And they were already popular before dynamite, so they werent in any need to "sellout" to anyone or any language. Never mind that majority of their songs are still korean, and will continue to be so. i wonder if other kpop groups who also write english songs are accused in the same way?

Butter might even seem to be the least "meaningful" BTS english song but it's actually my favourite bts english song and I love it so much.
As an ARMY who got to know bts first around the butter and ptd era, i got to know their english songs first, they may not be my favourites in their entire discography but they're really good and it just shows how flexible bts are artistically and could pull off something that wasn't their usual style.
They're some bts songs I didn't like as much as others but each time i think of the hard work and sincerity that goes into the songs, I begin to appreciate it so much and perhaps fall in love with the song i didn’t like originally. I think BTS' sincerity will always show whether they're singing deeply meaningful songs like "spring day" or "black swan" or fun summer songs like "butter"
Their intention cuts across the language, the lyrics and the style and that's what I love about them.
The more I got to know them personally by watching and engaging with their contents like festas and interviews, the more I fell in love with their music.
Dynamite, permission to dance and butter will always be hit songs...and whether or not BTS continues to release music in english or not, I think all we should look out for is their sincerity and intentions.

Dynamite made me listen and made my sister and mother ARMY. I knew that BTS existed just like EXO, but never really listened to Korean music, I was more interested in Japanese music. If not for their English songs my family would not have gone into the rabbit hole. My sibling just bought a Jimin nendoroid for my mom’s birthday. And I believe their collection is just beginning to grow. I still remain a casual but it really surprises me how fast they are going into the fandom. They watch BTS RUN to relax and it brought so much laughter to my mom in such a difficult time during the pandemic. So I find that while my favorite songs are not their English ones, they have a special place for me since they were the gateway into their music and personalities.

I also believe that at the moment, when they are huge, they could just release a bunch of simple, generic pop songs in English to “try to appease the masses” or whatever the argument people want to use ...instead they TAKE A STEP BACK TO FIND THEIR VOICE AGAIN. This is all you need to know, it says so much about them. I am an English speaker, although these 3 are great because they are BTS, they are the last 3 I think to listen too. All of their Korean songs, that they write themselves are better imo.

I really don't get it when kpop stans are so obsessed with the word 'western validation' only when it comes to BTS! Let me tell you example! Bigbang is a 2nd gen kpop boy group under yg entertainment no hate to this group but if you look at their music videos, music style, discography they're HEAVILY WESTERNIZED! Like most of mvs were shot in America! Their outfits, concepts are mostly revolves around black music which is an American music genre! In another way only the language they sing in is Korean! Apart from the language all other factors are American! But it was hard for them to break down into US music market! And BTS dropped dynamite in 2020 as a gift for their fans who were in the middle of a pandemic! And it accidentally hit no.1 in US and become one of the biggest songs of the year as well in kpop! That's when kpop stans start to accuse BTS bcz they sing a song in English but trust me in this case only lyrics are English if you carefully look at dynamite everything about the video is so "kpop" the colours, dynamics, concept! But ppl accused them bcz they did bigbang failed to do even they tried hard to get through US!
But I don't think someone from kpop ever will touch BTS's English trilogy in the near future! They're untouchable.

I don't think that BTS English triology is bad at all, it's what it supposed to be, one is disco pop , one is ed, pop and one is bubblegum pop , 3 complete different subgenre of pop and if you take it as a versatile artist and trying more genre which we army we're taking pride in since day 1 then we can enjoy it but if you want them to bawl our eyes our like spring day in a bubble gum pop song then you never knew BTS or was army even to begin,
You confused your liking for BTS hip-hop based music as you being army, you are just a fan ,
When army give them power to try and evolve as a artist it also comes with the price of them trying genre that we don't like,I personally like bubble gum pop ,not a daily listener but I definitely go out of my way to play them once in a week and just have fun ,

whilst these three songs did get a lot of unwarranted hate, they also got a lot of constructive criticism that i don’t think it’s fair to just brush off.
i don’t like these songs, not because they’re in english, but because i don’t like the genre or production. butter is the best of the three in this department but it’s still not rlly my cup of tea. i also really don’t like the autotune/vocal effects especially of permission to dance bc i feel like it made the members vocals lose their individual colours so they all blend together. on top of this i thought the lyrics were quite bland. like idc that the lyrics and song are happy and upbeat, boyz with fun happy and upbeat and it’s one of my favourite bts songs, however i think if u gave the members themselves the exact same topics and asked them to write a song they’d do a much better job. overall i just feel like the production and writing was basic and lazy and the only thing that made them better was bts’s flair and presence.
this may seem harsh but it’s my honest opinion. tbh i’m probably biased bc i rarely listened to pop before bts, it was just indie rock and rap mainly, however after getting into bts i rlly liked the type of pop music they made, but when they make more mainstream sounding songs like the english trilogy were it’s just not my cup of tea.
i think one of my biggest problems with these songs is mainly what they represent. for a lot of locals they just reinforced their preconceived stereotypes that bts’s music is just basic meaningless pop and that armys only like them bc they’re attractive or whatever.
this was a messy rant but i think i’m just sick of ppl telling me that i’m not allowed to dislike these songs. i’m not saying that’s what you’re doing, i genuinely don’t think you are and you’re perfectly entitled to defend these songs just as much as people are entitled to criticise them. however i’ve seen a lot of ppl on twt especially try to shut down anyone with constructive criticism about them, even when it’s phrased in a less harsh way than i did. this isn’t rlly related to your video or what you said but it’s just a gripe i’ve had with the fandom lately, bc not liking every single release doesn’t make me less of an army. and just because bts releases a song doesn’t mean it’s above criticism. in fact i think allowing constructive criticism is healthy in fandom spaces.
