It is Not only waste of time and material!
The result is a complete joke.
This happens, when people think they are smart.
You have to understand, how headlight lenses are built.
The material is polycarbonate. Polycarbonate is highly sensitive to UV radiation. That means, without a protective coating, the polycarbonate gets yellow in 6 - 12 months, depending how much is the exposure to sun light.
Therefore the manufactures apply a hardcaoting, a special lacquer, which is very expensive, and very difficult to apply. Without this coating, the lens is doomed to loose transmission. The effect is called solarisation.
So, use brain first before wasting time….

Explain how that last step could work. I have my doubts, but it sure looks real. Are you deceiving us? How does heating the plastic tube with a hair dryer, with the tube connected to a can of alcohol make the polycarbonate headlight lens so clear? Does alcohol vapor do the job? It can't be too hot, so are you saying that the room temperature alcohol vapor is what does the trick? It's hard to believe.

Hey man thanks for the tip with the battery and all that crap but between you and me and anybody who read this warm up some water with some dish soap nice hot soapy water and some 1200 rent what sandpaper what's Santa what's Santa like with the warm water and soapy solution and you're going to get there 60 minutes faster with the same results and you don't have to cut up no battery you have to make a spark plug tool that's just from One professional to a Creator okay the lights really bad and oxidized use a thousand grit 600 is very aggressive bro that's that's a lot of work to get that out I haven't had to use 6 many years so there you go
And by the way if you don't have rubbing compound you can use toothpaste baking soda and a little bit of water and a little bit of elbow grease with a sponge or rag or with your buddies little buffer and if he has a buffer he has a compound so there you go again. In pro tip anybody who has Google and what do you send paper the correct step for removing a scratch from a certain grit is the next step up if you have 600 grit 1500 grit will not take out 600 scratch but it just won't do it you will be there for 2 hours you go $600 800,000 1200 1500 that's why I don't start 600 because you'll never going to get that scratch out in a reasonable amount of time start with a thousand 1200 if that doesn't work after your polishing it then try the 800 number never start that low you're asking for troublel, that's it but one more note if you do it your way you're going to be doing yourself a lot of work and a lot of time you did 30 minutes for half a headlight bro I'll be on my third car by now seriously I mean if you're in a pitch and you have the time I don't know there's better /other ways

Не мучите себя, возьмите насадку под круглые наждачные круги и вставьте в шуроповерт или просто шлифмашиной проделай все тоже самое, начиная со 200, потом 800, 1500 и 3000. Без всяких батареек

I liked the idea of restoring the headlight.
But from skinning batteries, sanding and other stuff..
It's quite tedious just thinking about it, though.
Thanks for the idea, anyway. ❤

The beauty part was the final application of steam from the soda can. Amazing to see the headlight finally clear up like new.

Not a great idea! When it didn't work I moved the can which tipped over causing a hole somewhere and boiling alcohol exploded and sprayed all over me and the headlight! Not cool!!

He added Ethanol to the Can and then sealed it air tight, then heated the Can, enabling Ethanol to evaporate directly at the headlight.

You can also just use 3000 grit water sandpaper and polish the headlight by machine, which will be a bit faster. Still don't know what to do with the razor blades that are stuck together?

For less than $20 you can buy a compound at any auto parts store that will do the job. Or shaving cream and comet cleanser.

Even though I watched it on fast forward, extending the video this much is nothing more than wasting people's time. I'm sure most people stopped halfway through or skipped it, which will reflect badly on you in the algorithm. Don't waste people's time just to extend the video.!

I don't see the point. Because the reflectors in the headlight are usually fogged up anyway. And they're precisely what's responsible for good light.
