The car in the video is a Saturn Vue 3.5L AWD 2007. However, the procedures shown in the video will apply to most vehicles and applications.
    Transmission Filter
I failed to mention in the video that the MJ7/MJ8 transmission does have a filter, however, it is not servicable very easily at all. You would have to remove the transmission to get access to this.
Recommended transmission fluid change intervals varies between 30,000 and 50,000 miles. One of the main reasons for transmission failures is overheating. This means, if you tow a trailer or drive in a mountainous area, change the fluid more often.

This video is a transmission fluid CHANGE. It is part of routine maintenance.
A FLUSH is completely different. You have the option to FLUSH when CHANGE has been neglected. You can learn how to do a FLUSH here: ruclips.net/video/TFfZ76UlNYg/видео.html

You can determine the transmission fitted by looking at the RPO (Regular Production Options) sticker. GM calls it the Service Parts ID (SPID) label. This is located on the lower edge of the Driver's side rear door. It lists about 50 codes for all the options installed on each vehicle. They are listed alphabetically. You will see MJ7 or MJ8 there if it has the 3.5L engine. MJ7 is found in the front wheel drive vehicles and MJ8 in the AWD units.

Max life etc is the best compatible trans fluid! Many people think it's superior to the OEM Honda fluid

Thanks for the Vue. It is relevant to my 2007 Vue V6 with 120k miles. After 20 min soaking with WD-40, the drain bolt did not yield. My 3/8" extension's head snapped off. Head head jammed the socket. I tried a different way using a hand pump to suck the oil out of the dipstick port. Only 2.9 L came out, far less than draining.

You'll never be able to get it all out that way, but at least its a partial change.
I uploaded a video on how to do a full flush, maybe you should check that out. It drains more than the drain bolt.
I hope you subscribe to my channel soon

Honda transmissions of this type have a 17mm plug with a crush washer on the top rear of the transmission for fluid fill. This video shows the location at the five minute mark. ruclips.net/video/in2EJ1cz7cU/видео.html Hope this is helpful.

It looks pretty good to be honest! But I did a flush on it as well (I have another video on that).
After the flush, and a few years later, looking good!

@@TutorialGenius LETS GO!!! The DW-1 extremist took a L on this one😂. I just knew valvoline would work. It says on the back all the formulas it works so I really needed to know. Now I’m not going to start throwing universal fluid in all my cars not particularly the high end cars I sell but definitely for my Hondas there ruff and tuff. there going to get the VALVO-CASTROL Special. Thank you for the reply 🙏🏾 enjoy beautiful shifting bro 😎 you deserve it you took that risk.

    • @TutorialGenius
      @TutorialGenius  11 месяцев назад +1

wow, I'm sorry to hear that!
if it says ATF-Z1 on the back, it should always be fine in these!
Its also pretty much the only ATF-Z1 fluid in Wal-Mart, it wasn't easy to find!
At least you took a risk and learnt a lesson, thats what's most important!
A lot of people are not big enough to admit mistake, so you're winning there!

Well done video. Biggest problem I'm having is finding the right fluid.. The green high millage says different models on it. You REALLY. Have to read the back. Google for yourself to see what I mean. The bottle looks exactly the same but has different applications. Check other places. You'll see I'm right. Z-1 is no longer made. Dw-1 is the replacement. I can't seem to find either locally.

Not all transmissions have serviceable filters, like the one in the video
