Thanks for this analysis, I think it’s really informative and helpful! If you are to revisit this at a later date, maybe you could tell us if the narration/other features whilst listening to the audiobook is any different also? Look forward to seeing more from yourself this year!
I will be as well! I am going to use it for my first Secret Sanderson novel. Their mobile app is very poorly designed right now for audiobooks, but I am sure as it becomes a more popular platform for authors it will improve. Thanks for watching! :)
I heard about this issue on State of the Sanderson. The indie authors only get paid 25% if they don't put their books exclusively on audible. That's messed up and I want to support indie authors. But man! Audible is so easy and convenient. I don't even have a Spotify account. I guess I'll have to get one.
Agreed. I am not against Audible at all. I think they can pay more fairly, and helping other platforms grow will be part of that, but I am very grateful for what they have done. Also, I am guessing authors make more with their 25% on audible than before audible was a thing in the first place. They have literally created the audiobook revolution. However, now that the landscape is established, I think they are trying to take advantage of their monopoly, so I want to try to do my part to increase the market competition to make the entire ecosystem a better place.
I tried using Spotify before but it's difficult to track where you are when you suddenly decide to listen to something else. I did this quite some time ago when they are slowly diving into putting audiobooks in their system so I dunno, personally, how much have changed, but I still prefer Audible.
I just listened to Tress on it and I think they beefed it up big time! I was really testing Spotify. I would exit randomly, turn the speed up and down, and really just tested a bunch of the software features. I enjoyed it thoroughly! And I think they fixed the bugs you have mentioned.
I'm a first time author, have a paperback and hardcover version, want to do an audiobook, am using a very small publisher, which source would be good for my profit angle? (I'm poor, paying for the book myself)
There are probably a bunch of better people than myself to ask. I don’t know the answer to your question. What I do know is that most audiobooks sold are sold on audible. If you choose to put it on other platforms your book will reach a much smaller audience. However, if you have a following on RUclips, or some other sort of fan base, you could probably make more per book on another service like Spotify. But without that following or a huge marketing campaign on BookTube, I doubt it will reach very many people (probably won’t reach very many people as it is if it is self published and are getting booktubers to market it). I don’t know if it answers your question, but I hope it helps. Thanks for joining the channel! We are excited to have you :)
Having to buy a computer would increase the price a bit for sure! I have also been exploring the Libby app recently as well as Barnes and Noble audiobook app as well! Both are great

I will be streaming my Secret novels on Spotify so maybe I can do something then and compare it to Audible :) thank you for watching!
Good job delving into and giving your perspective on this important topic !
Hope to see the review for the "Voice of War"
Thank you! I am so behind on my reviews lol
Cool breakdown and analysis, thanks for doing this!
Glad you liked it! I'm excited to see the mobile app improve :)
Hopefully adible will see a lot more competition in the future! This is a good sign
I agree! I’ve been trying out Libby recently as well. Thanks for watching!
Interesting analysis. I'll have to look into making a Spotify account myself.

All I have is my phone so I'm staying away from Spotify audio books lol 😂 it's too expensive
