@@kjsciacca Kaiji is based on manga that published from February 1996, the anime is from 2007, the Japanese movie is in 2009.10 years from 2020 is still 2010, even when we counted that the squid game director started 10 years ago, Kaiji was years before. Just accepted that famous series can also be influenced by other work.

I've been dissolution with Hollywood for a while now and enjoy the eastern movie scene and I watch recaps as promotional videos for that genre. Since I only speak English. I immediately recognized this guy. Even if the movies aren't the best they are better than American ones that follow a pretty silly tired plot formula

Anyone who happens to read this, watch the anime. This movie covers things well, but there's plenty of games that are left out. Different order, outcomes, motivations.
For example without spoiling anything, they make the head boss angry about losing a bunch of money in the movie. In the anime, i never got the sense that he even remotely cares about his vast fortunes

Japan has a lot of good ideas when it comes to content. too bad their original ideas always got stolen by others. and this also might be due to their very strict content policy. it’s very hard to get subbed japanese dramas/shows compared to korean
Ironically, the main reason why their copyright law so restrictive is because they don't want their IP stolen by other countries. (See Macross and Harmony Gold for an example)

The movie managed to condense the manga pretty well and Endou as a woman will forever be a favorite.
Some beats were missed with tone but this is someone that's been religiously eyeing the series for years.

I first had to get off the medications making me feel suicidal as a *side effect* my doctors gave me and said you either take these meds or suffer theres no other option *i was 14* *therapy wasnt offered back then especially when your a minor.* Now it is thankfully. and take a more holistic approach with weed and therapy but again weed is a dependent. So i'm in therapy along with 4 other classes to learn how to cope with pain/trauma MYSELF instead of turning to pills, food, drugs, alcohol etc that has been so easy to access and will continue to be for a reason. Not easy at all choosing to fight to live instead of going against the grain.
The whole concept i identified with in the movie is the rich stay rich and the poor stay poor. You either decide to spend the little money you slave away at to keep you captive or you dont take easy things offered to you the beer and junk to keep them busy in the movie *which you will become addicted and slave to now having 2 problems not just 1*

This movie is just a little part from kaiji anime. There is whole another thrill in the anime. Also a lot of things happens in espoir (the ship) which this movie doesn't show. Go watch the anime if you really wanna get the thrill. There are 2 seasons. First one is Espoir and second is the underground mining.
The actor that played Kaiji, was in another movie with a similar theme. He was also betrayed by the female lead character too.

Thanks for making on this one.Kaiji anime is truly very underrated,barely anyone knows about this show,although anime plot is quite different than movie,it was still good summing up most games and plot.I would still recommend everyone to watch the original anime,it has more games and more drama and more thrill.
