- A tribute to Lars von Trier's work in the film "Dancer in the Dark" (2000), utilizing the Academy Award nominated song performed by Björk and Thom Yorke. Very rarely does a film emotionally shake me to the core, such was the case with this film. Be thankful for what you do have, even if what you have feels like so little....
Song: "I've Seen It All"
Artist: Björk ft. Thom Yorke
Album: Selmasongs (from the motion picture, Dancer in the Dark)
Writers: Björk, Sjón, Lars von Trier
Label: One Little Indian (2000)

I saw “Dancer in the Dark” 20 years ago and it still haunts me. Bjork was Brilliant.
Truly, the film was incredibly emotionally distressing. Björk was truly incredible. 🙏🏽
@@WKADESIGNS *I saw it (alone) in a small cinema in Holland ~~ i remember ... i was surprised at the end, everyone just walking away ... i couldn´t ...it had to sink in ... grEAt movie*

Her performance was so underrated but she says she’ll never act again due to the director’s advancement on her
I agree, Bjork was incredible in this film, such a heartbreaking and gut-wrenching performance. I was so disappointed when I heard the news of von Trier's inappropriate advances. I had always thought Bjork couldn't return to film because that performance was so debilitating and draining. It's an utter shame.
She wasn’t underrated at all. She won palm d’or as best actress in Cannes film festival and nominated for best song.
That’s interesting: the story is that she was “difficult” to work with... I guess there’s more to the story?
Apparently, she's involved with The Northman (Robert Eggers' upcoming movie)
She and her daughter will be in the next Robert Eggers movie
The way this song is composed is so catchy and alive but also haunting really. It’ hits you in so many ways. Then the instrumental just drowns your brain chemicals in pure emotion.
I couldn't say it any better myself. Thank you for writing about experiencing such an emotional song, and I thank you for watching here! 🙏🏽
Beauty! In an interview, Thom told the story of hoing to Bjorks Iceland home to rehearse and record this song together. She taught him by observing her am process of warming up her voice an hour or two before working. He later took closer attention to preserving his voice!
Lovely collaboration shows we alwsys are learning!
Wow, I had no idea about that story, thank you for sharing this. I really wish/hope we get another collaboration out of these two, they're both still unbelievably accomplished artists.
Wow, I never heard that story. It's such a warm one. Thanks, Mike.
Just pure beauty. Profound music, lyrics, arrangement, orchestration, and performance. And Bjork, my god she is incredible.
Absolutely, this entire production is just overwhelming. I can hardly describe the first time hearing this song, incredible masterpiece! 🙏🏽
The people who disliked this, need to have their vibes checked.
Lol, I appreciate it, seriously! :)
Who could hate this masterpiece?

Bjork’s performance throughout the film is the greatest I’ve ever seen. The acting and editing is unbelievable. Tremendous and heartbreaking piece.
She was truly incredible in that film. She was snubbed of an Oscar nomination for her role in my opinion.
What a SAD song! I cannot stop crying everytime i listen to this song. Björk u are such a great song writer.
I definitely agree with you, this song is truly devastating as well as the film.
@@WKADESIGNS wuah! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭! By the way i am from Singapore i am a Muslim i am 36 years old coming 37 this year in august. I can speak abit of french and german. Ich bin aus Singapur. Honestly in my country here in Singapore not many Singaporeans like Björk or maybe 0! My german ex boyfriend and my friends said i am weird to like and to listen to Björk. I told him "I love singers like her. Her weirdness make her successful!"
Thanks for taking the time to create a lyric video for this otherworldly song ❤
Absolutely, thank you so much for watching! :)
That movie was fierce and stunningly beautiful in its horror: it’s one of the greatest I’ve ever seen, and it was SO good, I’d never dare see it again.

I've seen it all
I have seen the trees
I have seen the willow leaves
Dancing in the breeze
I've seen a man killed
By his best friend,
And lives that were over
Before they were spent.
I've seen what I was
And I know what I'll be
I've seen it all
There is no more to see
You haven't seen elephants
Kings or Peru
I'm happy to say
I had better to do
What about China?
Have you seen the Great Wall?
All walls are great
If the roof doesn't fall
And the man you will marry
The home you will share
To be honest
I really don't care
[gibberish]
You've never been
To Niagara Falls
I have seen water
It's water, that's all
The Eiffel Tower
The Empire State
My pulse was as high
On my very first date
And your grandson's hand
As he plays with your hair
To be honest
I really don't care
[gibberish]
I've seen it all
I've seen the dark
I've seen the brightness
In one little spark
I've seen what I chose
And I've seen what I need
And that is enough
To want more would be greed
I've seen what I was
And I know what I'll be
I've seen it all
There is no more to see
You've seen it all
And all you have seen
You can always review on
Your own little screen
The light and the dark
The big and the small
Just keep in mind
You need no more at all
You've seen what you were
And know what you'll be
You've seen it all
There is no more to see
[gibberish]

No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main; if a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friend's or of thine own were; any man’s death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.

To me, this song is about Selma accepting that being blind isn't that big of a deal (at least compared to what will happen later) there's a load of foreshadowing in the second verse (or the first part that Thom sings). I actually love this song and am gonna put it in my will as the song to be played when I get buried...
Oh wow, that's a really beautiful final message for your funeral. It's always felt incredibly final to me, accepting blindness like accepting death. 💔
@@WKADESIGNS ;( yeah, that ending thoe...I heard someone say it wasn't cruel enough, but the fact that it was so anticlimactic and short is cruel enough. For such a character like Selma, a long-fall hanging is life just snuffing the flame of a candle, easy, instant, insignificant.
That's why I think the ending makes death feel more real, yknow? And it really makes me feel opposed to the death penalty. Life in prison...they're going to die in there anyway, who are we to take their lives, yknow?
@@WKADESIGNS And thank you! I hope that if I do die young, my family will actually do it. If they don't, well, it's not like I'll be around to complain lol
