Witches butter is everywhere but other fungus are hard to locate because it's not safe in the woods right now...Too many hunters in the woods in the fall and winter. Dryads will start popping and morels shortly after in a couple of months. 👍

Repeat Repeat Repeat.. ALWAYS!!! sometimes at night... In my head...I can hear you say a mushroom and it makes me want to go out and start looking or just go out and be with nature.
And there is always a babysitter for one magical night. We all deserve a break. But good find.

I’ve found several patches of candy caps, dried them in my dehydrator and was so confused by the lack of intense maple syrup smell. I was certain I was correct in the ID, thanks for clearing that up about air drying them for the best quality. Legit thought I was losing my sense of smell! Thanks for another great video!

Aaron, I am obsessed with your channel; I vastly preferred the old intro (it gave such a sense of wonder that all mushroom foragers can relate to). This new intro sounds way too unnature-y with the trap music beats, etc. although I still like the 'welcome to mushroom wonderland' and the food scenes :)

    • @mushroomwonderland1

Fair enough, and I kind of agree, this probably isn't permanent, was just messing around with different things. But I like the direction you're going.

i've been finding a lot of great mushrooms this december too in seattle. i've been kinda surprised to find a lot of elfin saddles lately cause i thought those were spring mushrooms. most of them have been moldy...found a beautiful fuzzy one where the mold had just started in one of my favorite urban mushroom patches in another apartment building's small yard
so so so love this channel. have been watching for almost two years and i'm glad your channel is growing

I'm a resident of the Kitsap Peninsula as well and went to the Kitsap Mycological Society's show at Olympic College. I've always been fascinated by fungi and hope to attend a meeting at some point in the future. I've never been foraging but would love to go with a guide some time. I'm guessing that by connecting with the Society I will be put in contact with those who wouldn't mind showing me the ropes. Thank you for the content, it's really inspiring me to get back out into our wonderful environment!

Loved watching while cutting up turkey tail & reishi I've found in a couple of places here in South King County. I'm dehydrating so I can pulverize for powder to use for calming.or sleep. I was buying capsules for quite a bit & foraged for free, now. I have watched for a few months and I'm hooked. Thanks & I'll take a look at that merch. If you can accept crypto for payment, I could totally donate some XRP.

Your little skeleton that you found is pretty funny! Because last year 2022 in the fall I was nowhere within a mile of a house out in the middle of the forest and I found a 4-in tall Gumby toy figure. You know who Gumby is right? The cartoon clay figure. Which I thought that was extremely odd. So you never know what you're going to find out in the middle of the forest.

    • @mushroomwonderland1

Yeah I know what Gumby is, that's funny! I have found some weird stuff but a fairy skeleton tops the list. Somebody else in the comments found one exactly like it I guess, but a hundred miles away 🤔😯

I love your show, however I must admit I get a little frustrated by your random description of the mushrooms you find. You provide tons of information on some and very little on others. My suggestion is to cover a half dozen points for every mushroom first, then go on with other information. Then people can take notes and get the important points in the same order, first thing, every time.
    1) Name 2) identifing charistics 3) edibility 4) Is it medicinal 5)type of strata it grows in 5) ways to prepare for food or medical.
Just saying a standerdized format would help viewers get the important info without needing to search the video.
Thanks for all the wonderful information and experience.❤

  • @Naturally-Kandice

I don't like the callous way you pick the mushrooms and just throw them back down like they are garbage. Please leave them growing to fruit and multiply. They need to do their natural process all the way through. Please don't spread this type of callous behavior to others. Too many people are out doing this and that is very bad for the environment. We need to leave them be. Remember our National Park motto: "Take nothing but a photograph and leave nothing but your footprints."
