Just last week we drove a Toyota Aqua hybrid as a rental car on our holiday and we put in $50 of gas and got like 596km range from that. Drove for almost 5 days on that and still had like 300km range left. INSANE
Only thing that I didn't like about my 2024 NX hybrid was the slight increase in auto insurance but auto insurance has been high in general lately 😂. Toyota has another big thing a lot of manufacturing terms and methodologies were started by them that is used in literally every manufacturing company today.
@@carswithsonduren It's California and I'm paying $200. All other insurance companies are double that for the same coverage, so I feel like days of changing insurance companies and getting better deal are gone for now.
Booked my xle sienna (8-passenger) on Jan 4th 2022. Received it Dec 22 2023. So pretty much a 2 year wait. It wasn't the paint colour I chose and wasn't even allocated to me. I had to talk to 3 different managers to see what can be done because my salesrep kept telling me it'll be 3-6months, when I went it he would keep extending it. My place in line was 7 at 1 point and found out that they had delivered like 13 of them, this is what upset me. I got responses like oh, they were your chosen colour (white) or they were le or le awd or 7 seaters. Either way it was taken care of after waiting 2 years, settling for a grey which I started liking afterwards. Overall still very happy as the minivan solved our space issue. The main thing I've learned was that they are using all of their manufacturing space to produce smaller, more profitable vehicles and aren't willing to expand on the sienna since it is a lower profit margin vehicle. So if you're buying a corolla, prius they'll love you for it and do what it takes so you don't have to wait as long as a buyer of a sienna.
Our Lexus RX400h is now 19 years old and has not had a single non-maintenance expense. We've saved thousands of dollars on fuel and could not be happier with the experience. Our next hybrid may be the ES300h.
This is a true testament to Toyota and Lexus quality. This is the type of stuff that makes me a loyal fan to the brand and what they have done with hybrid technology.
what about hybrid battery life time? Did you have to replace/service it? And what is the cost of replacing a new hybrid battery? Asking for my own knowledge and future decisions.
@biotechemboy I'm a moderator on a Lexus forum and have seen RX400h owners with 250,000+ miles on their similar year vehicles and OEM batteries that have never needed to be replaced. One precaution: Never pile up objects on the floor in front of the back seats, since adequate airflow to the hybrid batteries is essential.
15 years ago? First Prius was introduced in Japan in 1997. But Toyota started researching the concept of hybrids in 1975. (It's a reflection of the challenging time that Japan faced during the Oil Crises in the 1970s with all the Middle-eastern war and revolutions.) Toyota went into development mode from 1992. Cars usually require a 3 to 5 year development leading time for mass production.
In the current market, Toyota/Lexus for sure is the leader in hybrids. One of the biggest point from EV fanboys saying because Toyota is so much ahead in hybrids, they are not doing anything in the EV space. I do agree that we are not ready for a full EV push and hybrids are the stepping stone to a BEV or FCEV or whatever tech comes out in the future. I was thinking of getting an hybrid NX back in 2021, but they did not offer it in F Sport trim in Canada. So I heard about the NX450h+ and did the math and it seems to work better for me so I put my deposit in for the NX450h+. Loving the car, but it does have some issues here or there, but still a very good experience.
@carswithsonduren Before I had my Macan GTS.. I had the 23 Toyota Venza that I sold to my parents. I totally miss the easiness of that car. Lol 44 MPG . For me, the reason I chose the Venza over the NX was the price difference. The limited Venza comes with all the same things as the luxury model NX, except Mark Levinson, of course, but was at least 15 to 20 K cheaper. Plus at the time it was easier to get a Venza that it is a NX. I have also owned many Lexus RX s 08, 10, 15, 21 hybrid, 22. Right now, just having some fun , I will definitely lose some money on depreciation with my GTS, but I will always go back to Toyota Lexus product ..maybe a plug-in next 😊
Supply and Demand for Toyota means that many of us won't be able to get a Toyota hybrid because they refuse to build more of them, keeping their prices over-inflated at the stealerships! Therefore, I will get a PHEV KIA or an EV Hyundai later this year! Luckily for me, I lease, so I only keep a vehicle for 3 years!! When I need my next vehicle in 2027, batteries may no longer be Li-Ion by then.
It’s true atm I have 2021 Lexus Nx300 I love it but next will be 420h😁..Nx reason to that Japan Made and that’s only way I’ll buy new NX not Canada made in Cambridge
*~*~ Best of the BEST is a Plug-in Hybred.....Enter the LEXUS 450h+ " F " Sport............I own this and I 99% NEVER use gas....I get 49 miles per Plug-in to 120 volts and IF I ever choose to use gas I can use Regular gas and GET THIS I get 89 e MPG. yep 69 miles and do it in Luxuary with Adaptive Suspension...(tightens better than a beeemer in turns and Softer than my wife's RX 350 on the Freeway.........................GREAT TO HAVE CHOICES and pure luxury!
Because EV are heavy and have lots of torque you chew through tires and anything you save on gas you spend on tires. I own a 2024 Corolla Hybrid se awd i wish it wasn't awd for the better fuel economy.
@@carswithsonduren I love it i get 3.9 - 4.2 L/100km it feels well put together maybe because it was made in Japan. It would have been perfect if it had the Prius 2.0L hybrid powertrain.
You been drinking too much of the Trudeau kool-aid, in regards to climate change? Really? Other than that, I enjoyed the video and I think you're spot on with everything else.
Maybe I am part of the reason they are popular? At least a small part - signed a lifetime Lexus lover 😉

Awesome! Hybrid is the best rental option for sure, I recently made a mistake to get an EV as a rental.

As a RAV4 Hybrid Limited owner I agree with you. As a side note coast to coast is from Nova Scotia to British Columbia. Good video. 🇨🇦👍👍
Congratulations on your RAV4 :)

Same here. Just bought my wife a new NX350h. Love it. Looking forward to the new gen ES hybrid to replace my 2017 ES350.
Thoughts on comparison of the new Mazda Cx90 hybrid vs Toyota grand highlander hybrid? in terms of longevity, cost of maintenance.
I’m gonna get my butt in a CX90 in a few months. Stay tuned!
I went with a RAV4 prime for these exact reasons. MPG combined is 99. It’s insane
Plug in right? Wow
@@carswithsonduren yes sir! It’s a dream. I use zero gas on my daily commute
@harrisonandamanda_ epic if I had that option I definitely would’ve got that.

Nice look at the hybrids popularity. We replaced our 20 year old Chrysler. Wanted to go hybrid.
It ended up being a Toyota.
