Do you have any idea of the hyped "no way AA/BA" that was on VS's aircraft in the 90's?

  • @Starboard76

@vxracing16 .. they when they operated this aircraft. Infact, when I upload future 'vintage Virgin' clips, you'll see clusters of Virgin 747s at Gatwick.

Great video mate! Only one small error, Newark International is not in New York. It's actually located in New Jersey, approximately 7 miles inland from New York. It's not actually IN New York like JFK and La Guardia are. Either way, great video. I fly frequently into Newark when I visit the US.

No error, the airport is considered a NY area airport, airline route maps publish it as so and above all it is operated by the PANYNJ, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. The airport itself actually marketed itself as 'a New York airport' for years accentuating it's closeness to lower Manhattan (biz district) than any other area airport. It has never boasted itself as being primarily a 'Jersey' airport. It loves the NY affiliation.

You are right that it is a NY area airport, due to it's proximity. However, I found it to be rather misleading, especially since I fly into that airport time and time again and they refer to it as a New Jersey airport...due to its location...in New Jersey.

Brighton Cresthart I was flying out of there since the days of PeopleExpress, then it was known as a New Jersey airport..and it was a complete embarrassment. Then the PANYNJ got a hold of it and well..'look at her now'..a far cry from the disaster it was.

It still is known as a New Jersey Airport. Regardless, it's still a great video mate, I was just pointing out that it's in fact an NJ airport, not located in NY. I'm not looking for an argument, I'm just stating that you saying "at New York's Newark Airport" is indeed quite misleading, since Newark Airport is in New Jersey...

It's an 'American thing'..and even more so a New Yorker thing. Crunch the numbers, more NY'ers use that facility than Jersians. And a New Yorker will state quite emphatically, Jersey is Jersey, but that's 'our' airport.

@rachaelmatt thanks for the clarification, I have never been on VS but it seems to me that I would choose it over BA and surely over AA. thanks.

@rachaelmatt ..I hope you're right, the rate that carriers seem to be replacing them..is alarming!

@hmasurg There was a "no way AA/BA" on an A340-600 just last year as well! Pretty much, BA took Virgin to court for taking there passengers, but Virgin won the battle and the right to fly along side BA, & virgin counter sewed and cost BA millions! Then when AA & BA joined as 1, with the help of "one world" Virgin thought that it would eventually go bank rupt with the strong competition! However they're still going strong!

    There's nothing false about it.
The Airport is in Newv Jersey, but it is run by PANYNJ, the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey.,On Most Airline route maps..it is listed as New York/Newark. New York is always listed first - Always!..and there's a reason.. because the MAJORITY of travellers - departing and arriving - are to/from New York.. not Newark nor all of New Jersey. It is essentially a NY airport in New Jersey and is legitimately considered and recognized as a New York airport.

      Yeah, the good ol' days.
Now with all the security..people are jumping the fences, running across the runways, I'm wondering who is actually feeling 'secure'...

#1 - you're lying thru your teeth, you haven't flown anywhere..why? Only a child would go thru the effort of jacking up the 'likes' on his own comments.. look at all the comments on this page.. none have 'like' comments pinged except yours. No adult would even bother!
#2 Given ALL supposed your travels.. all that flying ...and you have ZERO videos of ANYTHING! Four subscribers (3 of which are probably also you).
..and yet, you have all this time to gripe about my titling.
