    Covalent Bond:
Carbon forms covalent bonds by sharing electrons with other non-metals.
    Saturated and Unsaturated Compounds:
Saturated compounds have only single bonds, while unsaturated compounds have double or triple bonds between carbon atoms.
    Homologous Series:
A series of organic compounds having the same functional group and similar chemical properties is called a homologous series.
    Functional Groups:
Functional groups are specific atoms or groups of atoms responsible for the characteristic chemical reactions of organic compounds.
    Isomerism:
Isomers are compounds with the same molecular formula but different structural arrangements, leading to different properties.
    Hydrocarbons:
Compounds composed of carbon and hydrogen only.
    Saturated hydrocarbons: Alkanes (single bonds).
Unsaturated hydrocarbons: Alkenes and alkynes (double or triple bonds).
    Alkanes, Alkenes, and Alkynes:
Alkanes: Saturated hydrocarbons with single bonds.
Alkenes: Unsaturated hydrocarbons with at least one double bond.
Alkynes: Unsaturated hydrocarbons with at least one triple bond.
    Nomenclature (IUPAC):
IUPAC (International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry) rules are followed for naming organic compounds systematically.
    Functional Groups and Their Properties:
    Alcohol: -OH group, suffix -ol.
    Aldehyde: -CHO group, suffix -al.

It exists as a three-dimensional network
    with strong carbon-carbon covalent
bonds. Diamond is hard in nature with high
    melting points.
It shines in presence of light and it is a bad
conductor of electricity. The most common
use of diamond is in making jewellery. It is
also used in cutting and drilling tools.

Diamond has a giant molecular perfect tetrahedron structure and a three-dimensional solid network of strong covalent bonds. Due to this strong covalent bonding, it requires very high energy to separate the atoms that's why diamond has high melting and boiling point.

Since each carbon atom is attached to the other four carbon atoms through strong covalent bonds. Hence, no free electrons are present in the diamond crystal. Due to the absence of free electrons, diamond is a poor electrical conductor.
