Nah, none of this can hurt my EV. Don't have to worry about overfilling, don't have to worry about static, don't have to worry about leaving the ignition on, don't have to worry about mixing different fuel grades, don't have to worry about old or bad fuel, don't have to worry about overheating fuel pumps, don't have to worry about vapor lock, don't have to worry about moisture collecting in the fuel tank, don't have to worry about dirt, rust, water or other contamination in the fuel supply, don't need fuel system cleaners or other additives to improve performance (as well, most fuel additives are highly toxic and cancer causing), don't have to be concerned with parking position while refueling vehicle, don't have to worry about gas caps and Check Engine lights. And now that the industry is moving to batteries that charge in 15 minutes, work down to -40 degrees, don't burn (LFP, LMFP, Na-ion), last well over 250,000 miles and cost below $75/kWh what's not to like (that is, for erudite and objective people unafraid of being called woke).
@TronJockeyOk, that's all great. Just not sure why you felt the need to reply to my comment to say all this. I mean, yeah...you have an EV so obviously most or all of this stuff doesn't apply to you.
@jamesDierz29 this *"**#Ai**"* voice sucks , it is not smooth, many unnecessary breaks. This is probably another Chinese own channel. That's why the reason they use *"**#Ai**"* voice, but some thing as important to this. I wish they would use a real human.
They should bring back fuel attendants and have them all ASE certified so they know the proper angles to fuel your car as I know that is absolutely true unlike another comment suggests that it is utterly false. I've experienced that where the pump clicks because it's not angled properly
Very Good Tip! I used to drop a screwdriver in the flap on the Carburetor to hold it open to get my 1969 LeBaron started; and used the screwdriver to get a charge from the two nuts on the solenoid. I inherited the car from my father. The only other problem I had with it was the 1st time I needed Gas (I ran out across the street from the "Filling Station". I got the can filled and walked back to the car. Walked around it a few times. There was no gas cap anywhere to be found - 🤔🤷♀ Walked back to the station and told them my bad news - car didn't have anywhere to insert the gas. Nice guy walkedPT over with me......🤦♀🙄 Now why in the world would they put the Gas Cap under the License Plate! Really bad thing about that is - if you only have a little bit of gas in the can the bumper can interfere with tilting it up. What I love about the new cars is the warning lights in side-view mirrors (Wild Orange Soul with panoramic sliding roof.) But squirrels built a nest in my PT, and EVERYBODY CHEWS WIRES in the KIA - they're made with soybean oil. It's hard to keep mice and other rodents from eating the wires when your surrounded by farms and fields.
@sheila7221you are the reason all these new cars come with this automation. You need to be told via digital display how much air is in your tires because you can't tell by the handling of the vehicle or the sound, whether your tires are low or not. You need to be told when your car is low on gas via another digital display because you can't read the gauge and so you don't run out next to another filling station. You are the reason there's seatbelt reminder when people like you are too stupid to put their seatbelt on , you need to be reminded of it. You are the type of person that would look for the gas cap on a Tesla. Which , by the way , is an electric vehicle and doesn't require gas. But I'm sure you'd keep looking for the gas cap.Because you swear up and down , it runs on gas and I bet you look behind the license plate. People like you should not be operating a motor vehicle period point blank.Because if you have no basic idea or understanding of how they operate , you don't need to be operating it.
Back in the day we didn't have the internet that spread news of fires faster. Back in the day a car fire in the next town over didn't make it into your newspaper. Also back in the day you didn't have the sensors that today's cars have so it wasn't a issue to do some of these things.
Small habits at the gas pump matter more than most drivers think. Shutting the engine off, stopping at the first click, and refueling before the tank runs too low can prevent EVAP failures, fuel pump wear, and costly sensor issues over time.
@243wayne1 the engine only creates the fume, it still needs a spontaneous ignitor to ignite, (ie: a spark or a strong static-electricity) which is rare.
I understand the stirring up cruddy sediment in the stations tank-----but how do you know if the gas truck pulled out 5 minutes before you showed up? The gas station should have better filters on their tanks to prevent this happening to customers cars. My 2 cents.
This video mixes a few real basics with a lot of exaggerated fear-bait. Modern fuel systems are designed to handle normal refueling without “weekly damage” or secret sensor failures. Yes, don’t top off aggressively and tighten the gas cap - beyond that, most of this is click-driven hype, not real-world risk. Cars would be failing en masse if this were true, and they aren’t.
Indeed... Like I get that if your car is sloped at a bad angle at the pump, you are not going to get a full tank... But they claim "you are paying for the air pocket", seriously? As far as I know the pump does not magically know the size of my tank or how much fuel I have left, but simply measures the amount it is dispensing. If you get an air pocket, you might feel a bit annoyed leaving the gas station with tank half empty, but that is it.
Agreed. I been driving cars for 23 years, and runnin fuel tanks to the near empty a 1000 times. I've had problems with cars, but not once a fuel pump or injector failure
I'm guilty of two things, I go below a quarter of a tank and I sometimes fill it until the tank overflows, I won't be doing either of those mistakes again.
Fill you tank all the way , when you. reach(about) half a tank refill. This not only protects your fuel pump but it gives you an opportunity to buy the fuel when prices are better. The gas in my area has ranged from $3:20 to $2.71 with in a few days.
@MSG685 bro science 😂 I agree don't run the car to the vapours as it can clog the filter but half a tank? 😂 The only thing this will achieve is add extra eight to the car for no reason. Not a big deal if you do lots of miles but if only doing a few miles a day for school runs and weekly shopping, constantly running a full tank for no reason could add up...
@HeydaCarrerasWell, as long as you don't let the gas go below 1/4 of a tank, then the fuel additive would still be mixing with the gas that is still in the tank.
@moneyguy2008 I just said what it is. you need to put pressure with the gas getting inside to mix that thing. Period. don't add anything, you are wasting the time.
@HeydaCarreras exactly so the stream of new fuel mixes it, if you just add additive and don't refuel it won't be mixed good, think it can even cause trouble with carburation if the additive is too thick
#2, there's a difference between topping off and getting a full fill after splash back. It's not unusual to have a pump shut off way too soon and still be able to get several gallons more gas into the tank. If you have to pull the nozzle part way out to get more gas in, then the tank is full and you need to stop.
i had to give back a rental van filled completely n the pump shut off at 7/8 tank capacity , and they said i didn't refill it .. well i should've checked before leaving the gas station! (no penalty tho)
Indeed, it depends much on what you are filling. Some are easy to fill, just dump that fuel in and she's good... And then there are the ones that literally start refueling with half a dozen clicks and in the end really need a while for the fuel to de-foam itself.
@michaelmccoy1794 Indeed... Bad angle can leave an airpocket, which can be annoying as you think you filled her up, only to note the tank is far from full. But I have never paid for fuel I didn't get.
I don't want to get gas at the wrong angle, so where are these gas stations that the pumps sit on slopes (I've never seen before)?...so I can avoid them lol
Depending on what it is, yes. Some say to get down to 4-5 gallons, add then drive 15 miles then fill up. Even if they foam up it IMMEDIATELY dissipates.
I've done well over 600,000 miles, spread over eight different vehicles, and I pretty much always drain the tank down to less than a couple of gallons, and sometimes less than one, before refilling. It has _never_ caused me, or my vehicles, a problem. FWIW I almost ways "top them off" too.
You are slowly wearing out your fuel pump. I never knew the pump was cooled by the fuel, & learned that lesson the hard way; having to replace the pump when it burned out.
You know what's kinda funny ? I'm from New Jersey and I never in my life pumped my own gas ! And I'm 64 years old ! We are the only state that has gas attendants that pump the gas ! Actually we are not allowed to pump are own gas !
Up until Covid you guys were 1 of 2 states that wasn't allowed to self serve gas, but now you're the only one I guess. Here in Oregon we only started being allowed to pump our own gas back in 2020. Now we have gas stations that are one side self serve, and the other side fuel attendant. So for the people that don't know how or are too lazy they can still have someone pump their gas for them.
THIS was SUPER helpful. I’ve had My 2015 Lincoln Navigator for 6 months now. Some things I already do. And some in this video, I don’t. But moving forward. I’m taking into consideration ALL these factors. 😎 Great Video
One Absolutely Outstandingly EXCELLENT, Video. I have been filling up, for over four Decades and never gave a thought, to the Fact, that filling up while a Tanker Supply is on-site, transferring gasoline, is a Very Bad, practice. THANK YOU, Immensely❣ Subscribed. ❤ 100% ❤
Well done. I have been driving and working on my cars for years and there were actually some tips in this video I did not know. This video should be mandatory viewing for anyone who fuels up their cars.
Lol....not! The reason the law was made was to avoid fires! Back when fire actually made it out of the exhaust pipe tip! Thats so far from the truth! This BS is about as correct as the warming when you fly saying you cant use a cell phone because it disrupts the electronics on the plane! Yes, thats BS too!
The big mistake seems to be manufacturers not telling people that they rely on you not using your whole tank because they need gas to cool the fuel pump and gas stations never cleaning their reservoirs of debris. These things are not intuitive.
I've been driving for 70 yrs and in that time I could count on the fingers of one hand the number of times I've seen someone fuel up with the engine running. Even though I knew you shouldn't get gas at a station where a tanker was delivering, I fiiled up because it was either 25 mi back or 70 mi ahead to another station. I had fuel system problems with that car for years after that.
Yeah that part is very true. If I see a tanker in the station I pull out and fuel up later. But im a freak. I travel down the highway through a bad city everyday so once I get to 3/4 of a tank I fill up so I'm always full. Which is like every other day.
I never get gas with the car running. It was never for that reason. I looked at it like this, as I am adding gas the car is eating it and I am spending more. I know it's bs and I ain't saving anything but I am in the habit of turning off the car before filling. Besides that I do not use my card at the pump so I turn the car off and take the keys with me so no one steals my truck. Scammers can put things in the pump to steal your card number and you will never know it until your bank account is empty!
More $technology ....higher prices, more to go wrong, more to repair . But we like all the toys , too hard to open the trunk with our hands , ect. Pay more for the toys and the government is happy to get the extra taxes. In Canada we pay taxes for parts , labour and extra fees for 'eco' and shop supplies.
Excellent information and advice. Especially about fuel pump damage when running on empty much of the time. I try to keep my tank full for this very reason. Got this also from Scotty Kilmer.
I don’t fill up when I get to a half a tank, but I get to about a quarter. I like to also kinda gauge the mileage and see how my mileage is doing. I wouldn’t be able to observe that if I filled up at a half a tank.
Do not buy your gas at a mom & pops station, I did that once in an isolated part of Northern Nevada, my engine knocked, and ran rough until I got to a large town, and filled up with premium. It took more than one fill before it went back to normal, never again.
Great info. Confessional. #1 Adding additives before the fueling (logic...thinking the fueling flow mixes it up better). #2 Adding more fuel after the the "click" (logical... thining the best fuel price needs to be taken advantage of in the moment). Comic relief..."Where 's my cell phone?"
8:36 Best just to read what the manufacturer tells you, some say before, others say after the gas pumping, one (1) brand will have nothing, and I would take this guy's advice at the appropriate time.
I've had pumps malfunction and not cut off and over fill my tank to the point where fuel spilled down the side of my car. I took it for a long drive immediately! I guess the only other thing one can do is siphon the tank immediately before starting the engine. I never got a check engine and have no signs of damage.
I admit, I have made mistake #3, many times whenever I am at the gas station to refuel my car. I need to remember to never do that to avoid costly repercussions.
The cell phone thing has been debunked by multiple sources but the getting in and out of ur car is accurate as far as static electricity, its scary how many people do this, especially with cloth seats.
I've been doing mistake #2 Adding more petrol after the pump goes "Click". I thought this would ensure an absolute 100% full tank of petrol. Apparently, old Fords' petrol gauges showed your car as having a 100% full tank, but then the gauge would drop to about 90% all of a sudden. I've got a 2017 VW Polo 1 litre engine.
I had a VW Passat and the fuel cap was crumbling from age and began to fall into gas tank. It ruined my engine I wish I had know to replace it. 2001 VW the body was still beautiful I miss that car.
Got it,Mistake #9 explains the slightly elevated tile at the gas station where I regularly refuel it keeps the vehicle slightly tilted so it’s not a coincidence afterall that means lesser fuel .
All the cars i used to own overfilled gas a little more not all the time and always fill at half tank never had an issue same with additives i used redline, cataclean, and seafoam (not at same time) all work great! and the cars drove like new

If you're not going to tell me in thirty seconds , i'm not sticking around.
lol, its the AI writing, it likes to extrapolate
I can't believe that people still fill their tanks up while the engine is still running. To me, it's always been common sense to not do that.
Ya thats actually wild, probably some Prius drivers😂
@moneyguy2008 There's nothing common about common sense.
Nah, none of this can hurt my EV. Mistake #1 for velovista: Using an AI to tell people how to do stuff.
Worthless Comment !! So petty!! Well done video!!, Information delivered better than MOST HUMANS!! Well Done Creator!
😂
Half this information is bullshit
@jamesDierz29 this *"**#Ai**"* voice sucks , it is not smooth, many unnecessary breaks.
This is probably another Chinese own channel. That's why the reason they use *"**#Ai**"* voice, but some thing as important to this.
I wish they would use a real human.
@iCostHop9998 And here u r commenting and making this channel money :DDDDDDDDDD
I can't even imagine anyone would run their engine while fueling. I thought turning the engine off was basic commonsense.
Ha, remember 2020?!?
Back in the 60s my dad would refuel with the car running, while smoking.
In 3rd world countries, they still have fuel attendants
In New Jersey u still can't self pump!
They should bring back fuel attendants and have them all ASE certified so they know the proper angles to fuel your car as I know that is absolutely true unlike another comment suggests that it is utterly false. I've experienced that where the pump clicks because it's not angled properly
Mistake no.1 BUYING A MODERN VEHICLE !!!!!!!!!
Very Good Tip! I used to drop a screwdriver in the flap on the Carburetor to hold it open to get my 1969 LeBaron started; and used the screwdriver to get a charge from the two nuts on the solenoid. agree
@sheila7221 At least it wasn't behind the the Tail Light like some cars. 🤔😕
Back in the day we never had issues like today
right on! throw the cell into a freakin' dumpster!!!
Back in the day seeing was believing. Now we have AI and the 'apps' ....can't believe what we hear or see now. Hence, I don't bother to vote. Pity !
Back in the day gas wasn't garbage to begin with
Back in the day we didn't have the internet that spread news of fires faster. Back in the day a car fire in the next town over didn't make it into your newspaper. Also back in the day you didn't have the sensors that today's cars have so it wasn't a issue to do some of these things.

@Parzival555yessssssssss
@Parzival555you lie well
People don't realize the gasoline cools the fuel pump.
My Chevy truck doesn’t even have a gas cap!!!! 😂
I was coming home from Thanksgiving, my Jeep starter went out...to drive home 800 miles, I had to leave it running while refueling.
...And guess what? Not a damn thing happens.
Fair enough in that case 🙏
@243wayne1 the engine only creates the fume, it still needs a spontaneous ignitor to ignite, (ie: a spark or a strong static-electricity) which is rare.
@xponen Exactly. Just touch your vehicle door frame or fender when fueling grounding it and discharging any static.
How did you get it running if the starter went out ?
I am vary proud of My self because I have been doing the right things all of this time.
I understand the stirring up cruddy sediment in the stations tank-----but how do you know if the gas truck pulled out 5 minutes before you showed up? The gas station should have better filters on their tanks to prevent this happening to customers cars. My 2 cents.

I'm proud of you for making this change.
I always knew about no buying gas when the deliverly truck is there!
I never knew this !
Lmao... "Make the computer work harder" lolol
Except those fuel additives say to add just before a fill up.
Well, just don't follow that advice then. Add the fuel additive and then drive the car for at least one trip first. Then fill it up with gas.
@moneyguy2008 but that is stupid, because the purpose is mix the additive with the gas, so is right to put it before the gas get inside the tank.

Why did this video show a woman charging an electric car???
Ha....ha.......
Why do you think? )
Because there is still the stereotype that we don't know anything about cars
Never charge your EV at the gas pumps!
Is this a woman asking😂😂😂😂
I never knew that about tankers refilling the gas station storage tanks. Never would of thought of that on my own
@Alex 💯 yes, sadly i learned the hard way. Car 🚗 was hesitating, almost oughing due to sediment. Luckily tank was 1/2 full or w/hv been worse
Yeah that part is very true. If I see a tanker in the station I pull out and fuel up later. But im a freak. I travel down the highway through a bad city everyday so once I get to 3/4 of a tank I fill up so I'm always full. Which is like every other day.
I've done most of that stuff and never had any of those problems.
#3 opening the cap too quickly? Suspect! What about cars like my last one where there is no screw cap, where the seal is built into the flap/door?
Honda Civic
There's a label telling to wait 3 or 5 seconds after putting the nozzle before pumping, i don't remember the exact time but it's there
I was surprised by that the first time I filled up my Ferrari
I never get gas with the car running. It was never for that reason. I looked at it like this, as I am adding gas the car is eating it and I am spending more. I know it's bs and I ain't saving anything but I am in the habit of turning off the car before filling.
Besides that I do not use my card at the pump so I turn the car off and take the keys with me so no one steals my truck.
Scammers can put things in the pump to steal your card number and you will never know it until your bank account is empty!
This was really informative, thanks.
Very very good information! Thanks ❤
In layman's terms , technology today is draining our pocket books dry in the name of improvement ! Never had these problems with my pre 1980's cars !
Thank you for informative information !! I never realized these things . And I want to take care of it ! Especially about topping off . ❤❤
Dobrze, że jeżdżę Żukiem, żaden podpunkt mnie nie dotyczy, nawet nie mam korka wlewu. Cudownie, jestem bezpieczny. 👏👏
Very helpful thank you
I won' t put in any additives before fueling, and when it clicks off I will consider that full
Thank you for this video. It help me a lot. I have been doing wrong .
Personally, I never run my tank lower than half a tank before refueling
This a very helpful video. Thank you for posting this!👍💯
I’m guilty of the first two! Thx I learned a lot liked and subscribed!
Excellent video.
Really good tips.....Thank You
I have made all these mistakes ! Thanks for Info.!
Excellent information and advice. Especially about fuel pump damage when running on empty much of the time. I try to keep my tank full for this very reason. Got this also from Scotty Kilmer.
Wow,learned a lot.
It's most helpful 👍
I don’t fill up when I get to a half a tank, but I get to about a quarter. I like to also kinda gauge the mileage and see how my mileage is doing. I wouldn’t be able to observe that if I filled up at a half a tank.
Do not buy your gas at a mom & pops station, I did that once in an isolated part of Northern Nevada, my engine knocked, and ran rough until I got to a large town, and filled up with premium. It took more than one fill before it went back to normal, never again.
Informative content with detail which are often ignored.....
Great info. Confessional. #1 Adding additives before the fueling (logic...thinking the fueling flow mixes it up better). #2 Adding more fuel after the the "click" (logical... thining the best fuel price needs to be taken advantage of in the moment). Comic relief..."Where 's my cell phone?"
Timestamp with the entire list would be great! 💯
The use of phone? Many gas stations use the payment app to activate the pumps.
This is a really nice video
First thing this morning was The Waggy! Now this! FM!
great value☺
8:36 Best just to read what the manufacturer tells you, some say before, others say after the gas pumping, one (1) brand will have nothing, and I would take this guy's advice at the appropriate time.
Wow !
Nice help,
Atleast I already had an idea,
Hope to apply it someday,
If I would have a car,
😁👍🚘♥️
2:40 in. Yuuup! I never added gas after the click, but my charcoal canister did wear out. (Probably age), and it was 560.00 to replace.
Thankyou I've been doing the adding more after it clicks I don't do anything else I have only put in more right after the truck left no more
I've had pumps malfunction and not cut off and over fill my tank to the point where fuel spilled down the side of my car. I took it for a long drive immediately! I guess the only other thing one can do is siphon the tank immediately before starting the engine.
I never got a check engine and have no signs of damage.
subscribed and liked. i learnt
I still see people smoking cigarettes while filling up their cars.
I admit, I have made mistake #3, many times whenever I am at the gas station to refuel my car.
I need to remember to never do that to avoid costly repercussions.
Tell me this when standing in a 40 mph wind at 10 degrees out. Thanks for the tips.
Umm, so what are you saying? Could you not follow one or more of these tips because of that?
Good 👍 info advice 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thanks for the info very helpful made all these mistakes in the past I'm guite sure mechanics wouldn't approve of this message 😂
The cell phone thing has been debunked by multiple sources but the getting in and out of ur car is accurate as far as static electricity, its scary how many people do this, especially with cloth seats.
Thank god all my cars are pre 1970 ! I don't have ANY of these issues , but I do always shut off my motor before fueling up.
Good for you! I had to replace my 1985 Isuzu Rodeo at 450k!
🎉🎉🎉🎉thanks you 🙏😊
I've been doing mistake #2 Adding more petrol after the pump goes "Click".
I thought this would ensure an absolute 100% full tank of petrol.
Apparently, old Fords' petrol gauges showed your car as having a 100% full tank, but then the gauge would drop to about 90% all of a sudden.
I've got a 2017 VW Polo 1 litre engine.
Thanks
Vapor lock doesn't exist anymore on these newer cars
I had a VW Passat and the fuel cap was crumbling from age and began to fall into gas tank. It ruined my engine I wish I had know to replace it. 2001 VW the body was still beautiful I miss that car.
Got it,Mistake #9 explains the slightly elevated tile at the gas station where I regularly refuel it keeps the vehicle slightly tilted so it’s not a coincidence afterall that means lesser fuel .
I drove truck over the road and in the winter, I never shut the truck off in subzero weather.
My mistakes are adding a little more gas after pump shuts off and running down to the empty mark. Also sometimes filling when the fuel truck is there.
10:37 that instrument gauge is new something. My car is build 2019 and no have that luxury item
So these car companies need to fix all these errors instead of making us jump through all these fucking hoops. This is bullshit.
Great advice, I was guilty of Mistake #8, learned something new
I do that too, however, I think I'd contact the fuel additive companies to see if this is true.
I dont think this person has ever owned a car?!! OR just too cautious!??😆😆😆😆
… or isn’t an actual person.
I am watching while i just had a engine change 😢
I noticed you forgot to engage your emergency brake. Safety first.
Static electricity in south Florida, I don't think so.
Good❤
they need to update this. All new cars not sure what year, don't have gas caps.
All the cars i used to own overfilled gas a little more not all the time and always fill at half tank never had an issue same with additives i used redline, cataclean, and seafoam (not at same time) all work great! and the cars drove like new
In my opinion those problems are the R&D’s challenge.
It seems to me that car makers should anticipate people wanting to round up to the next dollar and design the gas tank accordingly
I understand it now
static is produced by walking and other things, but NOT by cell phones
I have a new Mazda 3 and have been filling it with premium 98 octane since the day of purchase. Runs like a dream and you’re telling me not to???
High traffic pumps, yes
All modern fuels have cleaners in them. You don't need to add anything.
I've never seen anyone filling up while the engine is running
# 7 Tanker truck at the station filling the tanks, pumps have fuel filters!!!
Yes, I used to squeeze that pump until I got what I paid for back before prepaying with a card at the pump was a thing.
