That depends strictly on the watch. A Submariner is always making money, but really few brands do not depreciate incredibly. Even with diamonds and stuff, the depreciation is massive.

Like I think if Nixon makes a 10k watch, it'll increase in value over time. the supply remains low on the amount made because the outrageous price, thereby making it accrue in value due to the lack of supply in the future. If they made 10,000 $1000 watches they would be worth much less and accrue much less than say, a 100 run of $10,000 watches, ya know? I think it comes down more to the price point in my opinion... Plus its a great way to launder money and keep it out of your income as it can be an "investment" displacing that amount of income tax that would apply to it for a year. They're also tax breaks when you think bout it.

Rolex is not considered a big brand (although paradoxically is the most recognizable in the world, marketingwise) , a couple of their models retain their value. Among them the Submariner (that is the most famous) or the Daytona. Any other watch bought new would depreciate greatly.
Price is not the problem, but the brand. The brands that do not depreciate, :
Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet. Vacheron Constantin, Jaeger-LeCoultre.
Every other brand loses money the moment you open the box, including Rolex.
Watches could be an investment buying aftermarket except selected models and brands.
Buying new the depreciations can be easily 80%, even from brands you would think retain price as Cartier. The submariner costs more because there is a waiting list. But it is the working class Rolex, is an anomaly, is not a luxury watch is a tool watch (for scuba diving)

That being said, I don't collect so my opinion is what it is here, I've just made observations of others IRL. I guess my thought is that it matters more at the level at which you buy the watch rather than the brand of watch. Like as in a company that makes cheap watches or doesn't sell a lot of watches is unlikely to have a $10k+ watch on the market id imagine. And im talkin second hand, again. Like if we were talking about buying a new car and making money theres not even a convo to be had as its basically impossible to make money off a car from the lot. So the assumption there and in the context im speaking would be buying second hand and flipping over time.

Not sure which version of the Chappelle special Andrew saw but the version I saw, Dave literally said "hero" one time in the very beginning! He's surrounded by the biggest yes men on RUclips.

I work in the fashion industry as a model, we sign contracts with our rates before we do any work. If I didn’t like the rate on my contract I wouldn’t sign it. Nobody forced me to sign contracts. Even if a photoshoot I do blows up and makes it big I still make what my contract says I will make that’s how a contract works. However when my contracts up if I blew up and can eaten more I renegotiate it for more. That’s how it works i can’t go back ten years later and try to get more money than my contract offered or try to get the contract changed to give me rights to photos.
