So I got confused on the Lulu damage number, it's not 1100, it's 830 on Live right now. Still a big nerf for Death with Lulu going to 595, but not as bad as Myth got it. Crazy that when the orignal test realm for these spells came out Lulu was 1100 and Bugs was 1220 LOL. Nerfing it down to what they are in test just feels bad.

I personally feel that the original version of the spells with more damage should be kept for pve and have the spell nerfed with less damage for pvp instead of nerfing it completely for both of the battle types. this is gonna make questing on my myth harder for sure with the reduced damage.
Tara pointed this out on one of her streams last test realm, and basically, what I got from it, is that I'm tired of KI "fixing" things. They "fixed" pet hatching to make it more expensive, they "fixed" the deckathalon to make it harder to do, they nearly "fixed" sun-school TCs by eliminating any method of getting them, and now they're "fixing" shadow spells by reducing the damage to the point that spells you get at level 68 are better than those you get at 100 (that's specifically for storm, not even taking into account myth, death, and balance). I'm not against fixing the game completely (KI's critical fix in Polaris is an example after they fixed enemy block), but recently KI's "fixes" have become something to fear more than something to look forward to.
These fixes are why people have stopped playing wiz overtime. Especially the critical fix which was uncalled for and sparked a mini riot in the Commons..... Idk about y'all but I knew after Polaris the game was only gonna get worse up this point. My problem is I was actually right........ Edit: the only reason a lot of people came back now is because of covid 19. This game should of died by now tbh not Corona saved it lmao

The point of life isn't to 1v1 pvp, it's to support and heal.
Kings isle just killed this game. Been playing for a decade and as a death main this nerf is just insulting. Especially if they don’t nerf the health and resist of enemies death balance and myth are now just trash tier classes and I might be forced to delete a character that’s been there since 2010

Sundering Loki nerfs are necessary to the game sometimes, but people weren’t asking to nerf schools and spells into oblivion. They simply wanted more balance, specifically for pvp. These changes impact PVE as well, which nobody was asking for.

Exactly! I would give SO much appreciation to KI if they listened to us regarding the PvP / PvE balancing split. This nerf is almost like giving us something great for 4 years, then snatching it away from us by nuking it all. Disappointing to say the least, I hope KI reconsiders their decision.
Like seriously. This affects all my max wizards. I probably will never use gaze anymore of that goes to live. Nested fury does more damage than gaze now, and it hits all. So why not just fury? Or ra even. Seems strange. But my poor death aoe hit is massacred. I would only use deer Knight now. It’s not like the healing is super overpowered for PVE anymore since there are a billion wisps everywhere. And then mystic colossus is just trash now. Barely does more than EARTHQUAKE. I already do no damage to all enemies. If they were worried about myth damage, nerf my single hits. Mystic colossus has to be a straight pvp nerf cause otherwise it makes absolutely no sense. Just make all of this pvp only nerfs and get on with your day. If you think the spells need nerfs, nerf damage by like 25% for each of the spells or something. I can only assume the spells get buffed before going live cause it seems insane. Especially if you have a consistent amount of gaining shads now. It’s not my fault KI’s rng on shadow pips was broken before.

I’m new to this game, but I’m very experienced in MMORPGs. This is the craziest balance update I’ve ever seen in any game. Usually you see like 5, 10, 15, 20% nerfs/buffs, but to Nerf a class over half of its damage like what? Why not slowly nerf things til they feel right? this seem like an inexperience balance team.
I've been playing Wizard101 for 11 years. I started playing in 2009 as a Myth character and I still have that account. I want to come back to the game because now there is so much to do, yet with the Colossus nerf there really is no point for me unless I start with a completely new character which would set back 9 years of gameplay. Wizard101 is and will always be my first real video game that I got into because my grandfather actually signed me up for it, and it will hold a special place in my memories for that, but I'm seriously considering just moving on completely as of now. I seriously hope that they don't go through with the nerf for the sake of so many players and the work that they put into this game.

I just started playing in January after stopping like 3 years ago. I created a myth and was determined to finally get to the max lvl since I can afford membership now. I had such a great time and made so many friends. But now I'm 130 and struggling with Emperya. I have really slowed down and barely been playing for the past few weeks. But after this. I think I might just take another long break. This is absolutely crippling for me. Mystic was one of my favorite spells. I cant believe they did this. It has literally ruined combat for me which is such a huge aspect of the game
There's no way they planned anything going into these changes. I'm more than convinced that they just plopped random numbers on the table, implemented them, then called it a day.
Why would they nerf storm like that? Storm is already a hard school to play in PvP and it relies on raw power as it's only attribute. Lulu is basically scarecrow but thiccer now and why did they massacre my boy myth like that? Kingsisle is so brain dead and their decision making has been launched into a black hole because it's nonexistent at this point. Such a disappointment.

I understand that they want to nerf the spells and i see other people saying that they should also nerf the bosses/mobs in higher lvl worlds but to me, if we are in higher lvl worlds we should be facing higher lvl mobs/bosses. I would personally just nerf the spells for pvp.

Gosh.. Im so angry after watching this video. This updates sucks for real. They just destroyed shadow spells, which was most helpfull in PVE.. After this im ready to unistall this game and cancel my membership. :(
It was the best before nothing changed, people like to think Storm was the hardest hitter but on a team fire does way more damage, the spell from dalias smoldering hairdo lets scald hit for 1600 base damage (with enchant) and heck hound hits for a whopping 3640 base damage with NO enchant it’s nuts how much damage they can put out.
Imagine being a myth, you quest all the way through worlds like avalon, zafaria and azteca with only humongofrog. Then you finally reach level 100 and get your shadow spell, mystic colossus. Myth's saving grace. I'll now be able to do damage, you say to yourself. Then you hear that there's a new test realm. You jump on to see what's changed, you hop onto your now, level 100 myth wizard, you open your spellbook and you see your mystic colossus. The card reads 450 damage. You think it must be a mistake. You then begin to realise, that wizard101 only has 6 schools now.

Balkan Cherry although the changes may pull through to the live realm , i dont think they will last. People are PISSED OFF at the changes and I’ve already heard of people canceling their memberships. Losing players means kingsisle loses money and they seem to like money quite a bit.

I'm a myth wizard that farmed for dragoon gear. I feel like I'm gonna be even more useless now. No one wants a myth. As soon as I join a team-up, the person disbands it. No one wants myth currently, why would they want myth in the future with the weaker colossus?
I'm so glad I stopped playing around six months ago. before the pet update and now this insult. I'm a myth main as well, if I hadn't left then I certainly would have now. without mythic colossus Myth is entirely useless past lvl 100.
I really have been struggling getting better gear and now that they nerfed bug it’s like I can’t be a good storm now because I can’t do any damage unless I put hours every day into grinding. It’s tedious and just not fun anymore.

@@VisualRift The new spells in test are available for gold by your teacher in the Arcanum (I haven't been on test, this is just what I've heard).They're gonna be exclusively obtained from the new lore pack. EDIT - Some key bosses might drop the spellements for the spells, but that would require a excessive access to hundreds of gold keys (unless you get lucky ofc).
As a max Myth wizard with all the best gear, who has a high level Balance and Death Wizard, I really hope KI sees this video. PvP holds a small portion of the entire Wizard101 community. Most of the community is made up of players who strictly stick to PvE. Most of my friends list is composed of PvE players. I have 6 max/near max wizards that all have 7 pages full of friends, and I can only make out a handful of them that are PvP players. We need a really good change to these spells, or else this might be the deciding factor for most players in Wiz. Either these spells remain the way they are, and we get new spells at level 135-140 that will replace them. That, or these spells get buffed up by 200-250 damage while still keeping any changed secondary effects. Bugs should get buffed up in damage from 730 and should keep the removal of 1 blade or maybe remove 2. Mystic should get buffed to at least 550/600 damage and still remove 1, 2, or maybe even 3 shields first before the hit. Call if Khrulu damage should increase. Perhaps somewhere around 650-700. And Balance with Gaze of Fate’s damage should honestly remain the way it was or nerf it down to 375 or 400 damage on both hits.

I never understood why PVP changes carry over. Why couldn't they just slap a 'no PVP' tag on the spells instead of either sledgehammer nerfing or removing the spells?
Here's what I think they should do, why, and how they should implement it: First, pvp-wise I think these changes are pretty good and the shadow pip rating makes it a lot less random (I also may like them more as I have always thought shadow spells should be no pvp). So like most people I also believe that these spell changes should be pvp only and I also think shadow rating should be pvp only. This is because I find scaling everything back somewhat redundant as that doesn't really accomplish anything besides making our wizards feel weaker, and I think that progression and getting stronger is important. I also feel ever since darkmoor our wizards have not really been getting that much stronger, and these changes to shadow spells will only stunt the progression we feel to be even worse than it currently is. So here's how I think they should implement these spells as pvp only: First off I think there should be a marking on the card that says the card has changes in pvp and then you can right click the card to see what it does in pvp (similar to the backpack GUI), or there should be a button that would show all cards effects in pvp (I think this would be better but with Wizard101's jumbo code this could be harder to implement). Next I think that we should have both shadow rating and shadow pip bonus stats, and gear would give both shadow rating and shadow pip bonus stats. This is where the shadow pip rating being only in pvp would make sense as we could still use the old shadow pip chance like before for pve still, and of course shadow pip bonus/chance would only apply for pve and shadow pip rating would be the stat applied for pvp. Of course I would imagine that the shadow pip rating and shadow pip bonus would be at a proper ratio to each other but it could also allow KI to get creative with gear more meant for pve or more gear meant for pvp, by maybe giving some sets more or less shadow pip rating versus the shadow pip bonus.
I just started playing again recently fresh after years and my first Char is Balance and now im debating wether to even keep playing because i was told when I got shadow spells I could actually do damage but now that seems conpletely contrary
No you still have Nestled Fate at lev 108. Get through Khrysalis, and then Polaris is a breeze. I have a lvl 126 Balance and Nestled is so so helpful. It's Balance's best AOE. Never used Gaze anyway.
I've supported this game since I was 10, i'm 22 now. Have made so many memories, spent thousands of hours, and even met my husband on the game. KI has destroyed everything and has spit in the faces of their supporters one last time. Will never pay them a cent again. R.I.P. W101

@@NightVibes121 Yeah, I never use weaver anyways because I don't PvP and just like the consistent damage that climaclysm gives (I like to know exactly how much damage my attack is gonna do before I use it). But for a lot of causal ice players, this will make soloing as an ice so much harder, as the shield was a pretty massive life saver. 99% of ice players don't have the best stats available. I've personally haven't seen any other ice with max stats like me (in game, I know of some players that have achieved it), but not everyone has the ability to do the same.
I like you blaze, but I disagree with the nerfing idea. Instead of nerfing the spells, kingsisle should buff the spells for the schools that need it. And while I get power creep is a thing, we're also already at lvl 130. That's a high enough level to where we should be starting to get really powerful.
I don’t understand why shadow spells have to follow the same DPP as our lvl 48 and 68 spells. They’re lvl 100 spells and a reward from a tough dungeon, the DPP should naturally be higher. Or even better, just separate it from PvP and keep the spells the same in PvE.

They dont need to nerf the spells what they could do is make 2 versions of the spell one for pve with more damage and one for pvp with a little less damage by around 20%. then they can make the one for pve not work in pve there for vies versa with the other one for pvp.

As a death wizard who has played this game for so long i feel betrayed honestly. I was working on a balance wizard who is in azteca right now and cant believe my 2 main schools are nerfed so hard. I literally feel like having played this game for so long that this is a betrayal to everyone who has paid for crowns and membership for close to 10 years now.
If this update goes through I will leave this game. So much backlash is happening on Twitter and If they still go through with it then this community is doomed.
My best guess is that at some point like with the spring update, they’ll change it back a little just to placate us. If they do that, we can’t sit back and act thankful to an extent, we would need to give as much feedback as possible so that they change them back, or just incorporate a system where the nerfs are pvp only. Because this was seriously unwarranted
I spent SO LONG grinding for Mystic Colossus so my Myth could finally be somewhat competent and now they’re halving the damage, like we’re not already the worst school since our normal AOEs suck ass and our minions are brainless

I agree with all of Blaze’s suggestions for middle ground nerfs. Glow bugs was pretty OP and that 140 per pip compared to 98 per pip is a bit crazy, so 115 or so feels right.
To be honest , shadow spells damage weren't a problem at all in pvp ... The problem was always the utility with it ... And now with a system which will give both players the shadow at the same time made it so clear that a damage nerf wasn't necessary

Exactly! I would give SO much appreciation to KI if they listened to us regarding the PvP / PvE balancing split. This nerf is almost like giving us something great for 4 years, then snatching it away from us by nuking it all. Disappointing to say the least, I hope KI reconsiders their decision.

Like seriously. This affects all my max wizards. I probably will never use gaze anymore of that goes to live. Nested fury does more damage than gaze now, and it hits all. So why not just fury? Or ra even. Seems strange. But my poor death aoe hit is massacred. I would only use deer Knight now. It’s not like the healing is super overpowered for PVE anymore since there are a billion wisps everywhere. And then mystic colossus is just trash now. Barely does more than EARTHQUAKE. I already do no damage to all enemies. If they were worried about myth damage, nerf my single hits. Mystic colossus has to be a straight pvp nerf cause otherwise it makes absolutely no sense. Just make all of this pvp only nerfs and get on with your day. If you think the spells need nerfs, nerf damage by like 25% for each of the spells or something. I can only assume the spells get buffed before going live cause it seems insane. Especially if you have a consistent amount of gaining shads now. It’s not my fault KI’s rng on shadow pips was broken before.

I’m new to this game, but I’m very experienced in MMORPGs. This is the craziest balance update I’ve ever seen in any game. Usually you see like 5, 10, 15, 20% nerfs/buffs, but to Nerf a class over half of its damage like what?

I've been playing Wizard101 for 11 years. I started playing in 2009 as a Myth character and I still have that account. I want to come back to the game because now there is so much to do, yet with the Colossus nerf there really is no point for me unless I start with a completely new character which would set back 9 years of gameplay. Wizard101 is and will always be my first real video game that I got into because my grandfather actually signed me up for it, and it will hold a special place in my memories for that, but I'm seriously considering just moving on completely as of now.
I seriously hope that they don't go through with the nerf for the sake of so many players and the work that they put into this game.
100% if anything they need to buff some of the spells they actually nerfed. Gaze, mystic and Lulu really weren't that good before anyway.

I just started playing in January after stopping like 3 years ago. I created a myth and was determined to finally get to the max lvl since I can afford membership now. I had such a great time and made so many friends. But now I'm 130 and struggling with Emperya. I have really slowed down and barely been playing for the past few weeks. But after this. I think I might just take another long break. This is absolutely crippling for me. Mystic was one of my favorite spells. I cant believe they did this. It has literally ruined combat for me which is such a huge aspect of the game

I understand that they want to nerf the spells and i see other people saying that they should also nerf the bosses/mobs in higher lvl worlds but to me, if we are in higher lvl worlds we should be facing higher lvl mobs/bosses. I would personally just nerf the spells for pvp.

The least they couldve done is make the spell animation shorter if they’re gonna nerf it so badly. Myth doesnt have a single aoe over 500 damage.

I suggest Myth wizards who want a hard hitting aoe get a Wandering Eye pet. It gives you a Lord Humongofrog aoe dealing 870-930dmg + 1 round stun.

It was the best before nothing changed, people like to think Storm was the hardest hitter but on a team fire does way more damage, the spell from dalias smoldering hairdo lets scald hit for 1600 base damage (with enchant) and heck hound hits for a whopping 3640 base damage with NO enchant it’s nuts how much damage they can put out.

Imagine being a myth, you quest all the way through worlds like avalon, zafaria and azteca with only humongofrog. Then you finally reach level 100 and get your shadow spell, mystic colossus. Myth's saving grace. I'll now be able to do damage, you say to yourself. Then you hear that there's a new test realm. You jump on to see what's changed, you hop onto your now, level 100 myth wizard, you open your spellbook and you see your mystic colossus. The card reads 450 damage. You think it must be a mistake. You then begin to realise, that wizard101 only has 6 schools now.

Balkan Cherry although the changes may pull through to the live realm , i dont think they will last. People are PISSED OFF at the changes and I’ve already heard of people canceling their memberships. Losing players means kingsisle loses money and they seem to like money quite a bit.

I'm a myth wizard that farmed for dragoon gear. I feel like I'm gonna be even more useless now. No one wants a myth. As soon as I join a team-up, the person disbands it. No one wants myth currently, why would they want myth in the future with the weaker colossus?
I'm so glad I stopped playing around six months ago. before the pet update and now this insult. I'm a myth main as well, if I hadn't left then I certainly would have now. without mythic colossus Myth is entirely useless past lvl 100.

I really have been struggling getting better gear and now that they nerfed bug it’s like I can’t be a good storm now because I can’t do any damage unless I put hours every day into grinding. It’s tedious and just not fun anymore.

@@VisualRift The new spells in test are available for gold by your teacher in the Arcanum (I haven't been on test, this is just what I've heard).They're gonna be exclusively obtained from the new lore pack. EDIT - Some key bosses might drop the spellements for the spells, but that would require a excessive access to hundreds of gold keys (unless you get lucky ofc).
As a max Myth wizard with all the best gear, who has a high level Balance and Death Wizard, I really hope KI sees this video. PvP holds a small portion of the entire Wizard101 community. Most of the community is made up of players who strictly stick to PvE.
Most of my friends list is composed of PvE players. I have 6 max/near max wizards that all have 7 pages full of friends, and I can only make out a handful of them that are PvP players. We need a really good change to these spells, or else this might be the deciding factor for most players in Wiz.
Either these spells remain the way they are, and we get new spells at level 135-140 that will replace them. That, or these spells get buffed up by 200-250 damage while still keeping any changed secondary effects. Bugs should get buffed up in damage from 730 and should keep the removal of 1 blade or maybe remove 2. Mystic should get buffed to at least 550/600 damage and still remove 1, 2, or maybe even 3 shields first before the hit.
Call if Khrulu damage should increase. Perhaps somewhere around 650-700. And Balance with Gaze of Fate’s damage should honestly remain the way it was or nerf it down to 375 or 400 damage on both hits.
As a max level Death Wizard, this depresses me greatly. Khrulhu was my favorite spell. Sigh. KI BETTER CHANGE IT BACK OR IMMA THROW HANDS!!!!

I never understood why PVP changes carry over. Why couldn't they just slap a 'no PVP' tag on the spells instead of either sledgehammer nerfing or removing the spells?
To be honest, all they could've done was make a side note for all the spells they had a concern about:
(PvE- spell does this)
(PvP- spell does this).
I use the myth eye pet which gives good 8 pip frog I think around 800 dmg and stuns for 1 turn
Even better than that, it has a range of damage and the highest is 930
Here's what I think they should do, why, and how they should implement it: First, pvp-wise I think these changes are pretty good and the shadow pip rating makes it a lot less random (I also may like them more as I have always thought shadow spells should be no pvp). So like most people I also believe that these spell changes should be pvp only and I also think shadow rating should be pvp only. This is because I find scaling everything back somewhat redundant as that doesn't really accomplish anything besides making our wizards feel weaker, and I think that progression and getting stronger is important. I also feel ever since darkmoor our wizards have not really been getting that much stronger, and these changes to shadow spells will only stunt the progression we feel to be even worse than it currently is. So here's how I think they should implement these spells as pvp only: First off I think there should be a marking on the card that says the card has changes in pvp and then you can right click the card to see what it does in pvp (similar to the backpack GUI), or there should be a button that would show all cards effects in pvp (I think this would be better but with Wizard101's jumbo code this could be harder to implement). Next I think that we should have both shadow rating and shadow pip bonus stats, and gear would give both shadow rating and shadow pip bonus stats. This is where the shadow pip rating being only in pvp would make sense as we could still use the old shadow pip chance like before for pve still, and of course shadow pip bonus/chance would only apply for pve and shadow pip rating would be the stat applied for pvp. Of course I would imagine that the shadow pip rating and shadow pip bonus would be at a proper ratio to each other but it could also allow KI to get creative with gear more meant for pve or more gear meant for pvp, by maybe giving some sets more or less shadow pip rating versus the shadow pip bonus.
I just started playing again recently fresh after years and my first Char is Balance and now im debating wether to even keep playing because i was told when I got shadow spells I could actually do damage but now that seems conpletely contrary
No you still have Nestled Fate at lev 108. Get through Khrysalis, and then Polaris is a breeze. I have a lvl 126 Balance and Nestled is so so helpful. It's Balance's best AOE. Never used Gaze anyway.
I've supported this game since I was 10, i'm 22 now. Have made so many memories, spent thousands of hours, and even met my husband on the game. KI has destroyed everything and has spit in the faces of their supporters one last time. Will never pay them a cent again. R.I.P. W101

@@NightVibes121 Yeah, I never use weaver anyways because I don't PvP and just like the consistent damage that climaclysm gives (I like to know exactly how much damage my attack is gonna do before I use it). But for a lot of causal ice players, this will make soloing as an ice so much harder, as the shield was a pretty massive life saver. 99% of ice players don't have the best stats available. I've personally haven't seen any other ice with max stats like me (in game, I know of some players that have achieved it), but not everyone has the ability to do the same.
I like you blaze, but I disagree with the nerfing idea. Instead of nerfing the spells, kingsisle should buff the spells for the schools that need it. And while I get power creep is a thing, we're also already at lvl 130. That's a high enough level to where we should be starting to get really powerful.

I don’t understand why shadow spells have to follow the same DPP as our lvl 48 and 68 spells. They’re lvl 100 spells and a reward from a tough dungeon, the DPP should naturally be higher. Or even better, just separate it from PvP and keep the spells the same in PvE.

They dont need to nerf the spells what they could do is make 2 versions of the spell one for pve with more damage and one for pvp with a little less damage by around 20%. then they can make the one for pve not work in pve there for vies versa with the other one for pvp.

As a death wizard who has played this game for so long i feel betrayed honestly. I was working on a balance wizard who is in azteca right now and cant believe my 2 main schools are nerfed so hard. I literally feel like having played this game for so long that this is a betrayal to everyone who has paid for crowns and membership for close to 10 years now.

My best guess is that at some point like with the spring update, they’ll change it back a little just to placate us. If they do that, we can’t sit back and act thankful to an extent, we would need to give as much feedback as possible so that they change them back, or just incorporate a system where the nerfs are pvp only. Because this was seriously unwarranted

I agree with all of Blaze’s suggestions for middle ground nerfs. Glow bugs was pretty OP and that 140 per pip compared to 98 per pip is a bit crazy, so 115 or so feels right.
If they are going to do this they should definitely give endgame bosses less health, imagine trying to solo mirage or empyrea as a myth now

To be honest , shadow spells damage weren't a problem at all in pvp ... The problem was always the utility with it ... And now with a system which will give both players the shadow at the same time made it so clear that a damage nerf wasn't necessary
