I remember jamming with Jeff in the music school rehearsal rooms at Berklee in the 1970's. We turned off all the lights and take long experimental solos but Jeff's solid playing would light up the room.
Agreed on the original tenor Selmer sound. To keep that full bodied and edgy tone on a Mk6 is something that's easily lost. MB was a master and such a humble man. IMO the key to true musicianship. RIP.
THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER! MODERN JAZZ MUSIC! MASTER! JAZZ TENOR SAXOPHONIST! VIRTUOSO! LIKE! THE LEGENDARY! MICHAEL BRECKER! AGAIN! NEVER! EVER! EVER! EVER! EVER! EVER! EVER! EVER!
Matija Liaic, I don't feel bad I am merely in awe of his talent. There are countless thousands of great players out there that could practise 14 hours a day and not touch him.
I would argue that music, especially jazz, is free to interpret any way you want. Even if I'm wrong on that point, I could never downplay anything Brecker did.
I like the sound Brecker has here, with the original neck, earlier Brecker! Not that his sound got less good or anything, but his tone is amazing! Jeff Andrews,my favorite bassist!

RIP Jeff :( the most wonderful jazz bassist of all time...
Geeez, every single time I listen to this it's just......SICK SKILL man. Just other worldly talent and work. RIP Michael.
Most people don't know the inter personal skills and technicals it's takes to sound like the greatest. It's takes years and years.
Bill Evans. Michael Brecker. My heroes. Both gone so very much too soon.
He made what a Selmer Saxophone should sound like, big, bold, elegant, dangerous, with Brecker the list is long, but always perfection.
I have been playing all my life and always feel so humbled when I listen to him. Absolutely a master that will never be matched.
+Bill Abbott well, he practised six or seven hours a day, so don't feel bad
+Matija Livaic That's no excuse at all :) I could play 7 hours a day, i would never reach guthrie govan's level
@@Johncowk never say never)
You have not learn who are you...
@@Johncowk if you practice the right way and 5hrs everyday..you can
Michael Brecker Group... one of the greats..
Great song!
This is my favorite time period for Michael Brecker recordings. I like his sound best on this setup.
I miss YOu Man....R.I.P.
Michael and Mike lead by Michael !!! LOve Michael RIP
MIke Stern on the old tele used to see him @ 55 bar all the time.
Not my favourite rendition but there's no getting over Breckers complete mastery of his horn. Simply incredible.

A Master..
1:28 is so Brecker
3:52 he plays the licc
My favorite part is 2:02 when he fixes his glasses
Hmmm. Mike has his original Mk Vl Neck still on there. I think the silver replacement neck sounded thinner...
@mgiaca I agree with you.
Meaning, more bravoed scales right here
John Coltrane did his work way back years, Brecker and his problem. Why is her complicating the stuff now. LOL
... what?
Same solo of the recording
Too many notes...
