You've done very well with your slipper orchids! You have one ingredient not mentioned anywhere else...enthusiasm! If you are fascinated by the leaf and root textures, you've graduated a few steps in the right direction. 😁
I have tried to keep my orchids very wet, but I think they lack some aeration when I use heavier wetter mixes. But if it works, don't change it. I find that most appreciate a repotting once a year or at the very least 2 years. If there are active roots, it is a good time to repot.
Very nice video and happy growing! I just subscribed to your fine channel.

:D I like what you say about graduating in the right direction, slipper orchids do seem to attract people in.
Great tips, thank you! Completely agree, if the heavier mix is working with your conditions then you have hit the perfect combination we are all searching for.
Oh wonderful! Great to have you along for the ride, thank you very much :)

Beautifully researched and presented, thank you! One thing I learned is that paphs don't like to be overpotted and they like to dry out a bit between each watering. I even went as far as to start weighing them to see if they were dry enough, it seemed to be the only way I could stop myself from overwatering them😂Good luck with them😀

Thank you so much for your feedback, and thank you for the advice! It could be essential for the delenatii in the heavier media. Very best wishes 🙂

It looks like the insigne is loving the more airy substrate !!! I hope it blooms for you soon!!!!
Oh btw, I have already grabbed your link which I have placed in the description of my video, together with the other participants, so that it makes it easier to find the videos...

Thanks! Fingers crossed :) I'm not sure why it is liking it dry but orchids always like to surprise.
Wonderful thank you, I'll update the links here too.

So curious, that the insigne does well in such an airy mix... My paphs would completely dehydrate in my weather! Loved the video btw 👍

Thanks! Completely agree it is a bit of a surprise. It does go against the advice. It will be a little while longer before I can say why it likes it or if it is just a phase. Thanks so much for watching :)

Have you tried some extra calsium? It might help with the leaves. I give mine min. Once a month the calmag. :) I also keep the mottled leaved ones in fairly airy media.

That's really useful to know, thank you! I give them an irregular bath in hard tap water but not a specific calcium boost. Will see what I can get hold of. Thanks again :)
