    "Chasing rarity rather than chasing cards that matter" -- That says it all. Thank you!

    Good video. I’ve found it hard to be excited about 1/1’s because they seem antithetical to the hobby. Having a version of the card nobody else can get creates no shared experience or community. Even with a /5 there’s opportunity for others to own it or partake in the pursuit of that version.

    As far as autos, it makes so much more sense to just buy a regular auto vs a 1/1 Auto. I still get an Auto for less price.

    My problem with 1 of 1 in all sports is U would think a RC one should be the highest value but there are others like does it have a auto or color is it from a high end or low end product.

    If you look at Dynasty theres 10 x 1/1 of some players. We're almost at the point where they are list as 1/1/10 😂

      Ive been harping on exactly this for a while now. Not only did they have that many 1/1's but this was supposed to be the most premium set. Based on prices, it kinda seems like no one cares. I always reference "The emperors new clothes" fairytale. Kinda like no one seems to care about the sheer number of Yamal rookie autos/parallels that are out this year. I still would love for someone to do a video with some loose math that calcs all these cards vs say parallels pre-boom or hell, even non-parallel print runs of some early sets.
      Once the Hype train leaves the station....it's hard to stop.

      I was checking POP reports on Dynasty, as 2 De Bruynes hit eBay yesterday. Both were PSA 8s which would suck. That being said the checklist shows essentially 5 of the same parallels all numbered to /10 yet they only have slight image variations. Like a loophole to get /50 look like /10….same with the 1/1’s. Turn /10 into 10 1/1s.

    It's all about supply and demand. In the Wirtz example - he is one of the hottest prospects right now, his cards prices are insanly high because everyone wants a rare card of wirtz just for the price jump potential. If he moves to real madrid or wins a trophy with Germany, the card can be sold for at list double the price. Matuidi even though he won a world cup, he is rather unknown. Many people including myself, collect our favourite players for the personal collection, but also trying to finance the hobby by smart buying and selling. Matuide has no potential in soccer cards standards - he is retired. He is rather unknown outside of France. His cards prices will probably just keep going down.

      Despite being American, I am fully aware of who each player is and their career arc. You summed it up well; People want to try and flip Wirtz for a quick buck so they'll overpay. Eventually that game ends in disaster. As for the Matuidi (Not Matuide), I can essentially guarantee that the card in question will not go down. 100$ is practically the floor for any 2018 World Cup Gold Power Prizm, and he won the world cup, so there will be extra collectors.
      As I said in the video, cards that matter will win the day... That Wirtz card has no meaning, the Matuidi is clear by a mile.

      Wirtz cards are very high? I am not a buyer of prospects, but when i compare Wirtz to Lamine Yamal prices ( i am always interested in market prices), Wirtz prices are way to low for his talent. Lamine Yamal is hot yeah.

    I think a lot of these non-star 1/1 sales are going into pc's and therefore the price is the price and it doesn't really matter from there

    • @UsmntSoccerCards
      @UsmntSoccerCards  4 месяца назад +1

      That is fair, if it's for PC do what has to be done, but from what I have seen from Card shows and Social Media, there's a lot of people buying for resale.

    • @bubblesnz1059
      @bubblesnz1059 4 месяца назад +1

      Exactly... I'm a player collector and will have to pay between 200-800+ for his 1/1s as a pretty c or d tier type player. That's just the nature of things.
      I get the point of the video but it's still demand that drives prices

      So many times, I see people saying "it's for my pc" and then try to flip it 2 weeks later. I think new collectors do not have an understanding of what "pc" means. It is just a card they want a card for cheaper than they think they can sell it for.

  • @MichaelDancification

    never understood why people buy a card for 1000x more for a different foil and a 1/1 stamp. no different image, no really special foil always the same and especially the 1/1 autos being mostly STICKER autos and the quality control on these sometimes is crazy embarrassing plus in the end it doesn't seem that special of a card if they only stick a sticker on it but i guess there is always that one special dude that would pay for such a disaster. if the biggest hobby relevant 1/1 has that minimal care from the manufacturer and the overflood of sets i can understand the low prices on some 1/1s. same 1/1, different season.

    • @fortysixn2903
      @fortysixn2903 4 месяца назад +2

      It’s about rarity. There are just less of any variation of any card vs the base.
      It’s not about the image, if that’s the case you could just take a picture of a card and it’d be the same. Value in collecting is 50% rarity 50% player.

    • @MichaelDancification
      @MichaelDancification 4 месяца назад

      @@fortysixn2903 of course its the rarity but whats the difference between the base and a superfractor if leave out the serial stamp and watch the cards individually the only difference is the foiling and thats it, the only thing you would be happy about is the monetary value because if it wasn‘t for that you just packed a card that looks identical to a the base but with a different foiling, no extra cool images or extra text. The back text is exactly the same as the base auto one for most cards. So basically i could get the base auto of someone and it would feel the same, IF you keep out the monetary value.
      1/1s are nothing special anymore, its like that. The only ones that are worth some big money, are the goat cards and hot rookies, everything in the middle is not relevant, excluding high tier boxes.
