Tim Christi good morning it's 6:30 30 degrees windy but that not bad for December in Wisconsin was fun watching and learning
God Bless All
PaK
The Flail mower works great and I love the results! Thanks for another great video!
I love the videos with Christie on the tractor. Her comments are different to Tim but are complementary.
I put a lot of hours on a 7ft flail mower when i was young cutting ball fields and some commercial properties using a Case 440 gasoline tractor. This was long before the big commercial zero turns we have today. If I was cutting a property on a regular basis it would do a really nice job.
Nice thought - leaving some growth for the wildlife.
What I'm hearing, Tim needs a new tractor with a cab on it.
Happy wife, happy life.
Christie gets to keep her spot in the warm cab! Sorry Tim......Happy Wife Happy Life my friend.....God Bless you both and have a joyous, safe, and healthy Holiday Season!
Back to the tower property, my favorite clean up area. 👍
Reduction of the fire hazard around the tower is very important. Good job.
Wow , how lucky are you guys to be able to try out new equipment and make a living doing so . I just ordered a set of edge tamers , partly from seeing them in action on your channel . Love watching your videos up here in west Michigan .
Thanks very much, Bryan. God has been good to us, no doubt!
I like how much easier it is with trimming. I viewed this as a good reason to purchase a flail mower for mowing heavy vegetation and brush compared to a rotary cutter. Today's episode was a good compare/contrast in my mind after having to watch the 4' rotary cutter (cutting width taken in to account) episode again.
I like the mower. It sure works good and doesn't over work the tractor. Merry Christmas!
This configuration would be ideal for a municipal park in Michigan after a long winter!
Tim, looks you have lost your operators job but the cameraman job just became available! LOL Thank you for another wholesome family video!
Any chance you could talk a bit (or maybe even review) some more side by side attachments? I just discovered yesterday they make a whole host of side by side implements. I saw a planter, tiller, disc, cultivator, blade, plow, and even a 3 point hitch conversion! Seems like some of it would be a lot of stress on chassis not build for that kind of force.
Interesting idea. We might be able to do that!
Great video Tim and Cristy, I’m thinking about getting a flail mower for my RK24 it’s great to see Johnny handling this unit.
Great idea for Christy to be warm and comfortable
Looks like the mower is running the outside wheels on top of the grass - I run them just off and the small overlap doesn't crimp the grass on that side and I get the previous line completely cut. Doing good jobs on that stuff.
Turned out great! Did you ever talk about those rear tires? I imagine you replaced the R4 tires with those. Looks like there is more sidewall give - does that give better traction? Do you worry about punctures in fields like this?
These tires are an option from Deere. Carlisle VersaTurf. Yes, we did a video on them on the day they were announced!!
@@TractorTimewithTim I'll go back and check it out!
13:40 you could make a mount for the tractor to hold a brush cutter on the tractor for those up close jobs were a trimmer would be faster.
I’m impressed that I can hear Christy reasonably well inside the cab with the motor running at high rpms and the mower running.
We have worked hard on our audio solution.
Much improved! Thanks for noticing!
So are you changing the name on the channel to “Tractor time with Christie” ?
She could have her own channel and do behind the scenes type videos. I’ve seen that with a few changes where the wife makes there own channel and just puts up random behind the scenes stuff. It’s pretty entertaining seeing the less polished stuff.
That would work great on my 550. Might have to look into getting one
Yes, would be a nice combination on the 550!
@@TractorTimewithTim Or for my Ventrac, I would rather drive the Oliver though!
Little Jhonny needs a lighting up grade with next generation LED as well as side mounted spot lights. C'mon guys get with the program!
Thank you Tim and kristy. Love they videos
Nice video tim and kristie and good job kristie looks really good and the cab looks good too 👍👍
Great job Christi
Great finish!
Good job
Always a great job Tim and Christy!
Merry Christmas! Haven’t heard from you in awhile!
@@TractorTimewithTim, Merry Christmas to you Christy and Family as well Tim. Just been a bit crazy busy. Though I have been following your adventures, LOL! This revolving COVID door is not helping the ministry. Anyway, pushing forward in the faith and grace of Christ. Have a truly safe and blessed holiday season.
Seems that Covid is being used to get us to socialize LESS. We are social beings. We NEED human interaction. We NEED to get together for fellowship and worship.
Sad to see this happening. Oh well.
@@TractorTimewithTim So true. It is so very necessary. We are meant to be in relationship with one another.
I vote Christy for Tractor driver. Not having run either a brush mower or a flail I have always leaned to the flail mower because I like the finished cut better, it keeps the total length of tractor and impliment shorter and it will cut shorter. Great video, another real application for Johnny. What blades does the flail have on it, Y blades or Duck feet
Hammers...I think these would be considered the ‘duck feet’
Maybe you could get a short stiff whip to attach to the mower so you can see the edge of it to mow. You might lose your mowing job Tim. Christy really likes that warm cab. Lol!
Sometimes Tim it helps to think warm thoughts why are you standing there doing that fantastic camera work
Thanks for sharing.
Your tractor time opening graphic design with the tractor lifting the letter "A" up, is unique! Was that your idea or Christie's?
A little bit from several folks.
Great video! I see that you are able to use the quick hitch. Did you have to do any modifications for it to work? Most of the flail mowers that I am researching are not quick hitch compatible. Thanks.
I see the advantage of a 61" mower, but I like the smaller Offset Flail mower your reviewed back in May
Yay Christy! That looked like fun. Can I ask why you don't use Allie the gator to record your video from? You could set up so you could follow along like using a grain wagon, or sit in place and be nice and warm. A gimble might be expensive, but it would add a lot to any in motion video you want to record. Looking forward to seeing more.
Need lots of camera angles.
FINALLY A GOOD ITALIAN MACHINE. THE BEST. I GOT IT.....HI FROM ITALY.
I have an offset ditch bank flail built by Peruzzo in Italy. It works well.
Hi Tim an Christie Merry Texmas have a day love from TEXAS
Have you seen any mowers that fit on a compact tractor loader and is powered by an auxiliary pto hydraulic pump?
Would this work better than a rotary cutter for saplings and undergrowth in woods where you have to maneuver between trees?
Thanks
Definitely easier to maneuver.
Maybe not the place to ask this but is there a quieter muffler for a 1025R
Would be nice!
Good job of sharing
Like the tractor time with Christie
Looks a lot like sagebrush which is a natural indicator that lime is needed. Actually, it means the soil is in bad shape...you need a lot of lime to rid a field of sagebrush. Flail mowers don’t cut sagebrush very well.
Tim, would Vinnie and the Tough Cut mower have done a comparable job? Do you think the flail mower available in 2021 from Ventrac will be a better choice for purchase than the Tough Cut mower if a person can have only one? Great to see you and Christy working together.
Tough cut will cut nearly anything. However, it doesn’t mulch much at all. Flail is superior at mulching, but will not handle material as large as the tough cut.
Either would have cut this material easily.
Thanks for answering. Maybe you can do a comparison video in near future? Others may have same question.
Awesome video. Mr. Tim. . . . .what the difference between this flail mower & the gray one ya'll was using last year? Or am i mistaken???
Good job Christy. . . . .ole Tim outtuh keep ya round for another day or three. . . . lol lol lol. Take care, God bless
The other one is Orange as well...from Maschio. The difference is that the other one extends out to the right for mowing ditch banks, etc.
Hey Tim: I may have missed it but is this flail mower running the grass blades or the hammers? I think I like it better than a bush hog for the finished look.
Hammers.
I would love to see a comparison with the flail mower and a regular bush hog in brush, grass and weeds. Which one is best all around?
Jon Ritter...from A Ritter Bit will Do. Did a good episode on that this summer.
I have a bunch of land I need to clear in Southern Illinois, My concern is the stumps/splinters that the Baumalight-type brush mulcher would leave behind. Do you have any problems with them puncturing your tires? I have a Kubota L4060 with R4 tires.
The Baumalight brush mulcher does not leave any stobs behind anything at ground level is either cutoff, or beat up to the point that it is not structurally sound enough to hurt your tires. Check out the earlier videos.
I had some timber cut off my property. I have been bush hogging it with a rotary cutter running over broke sticks. It shreds some of them. How would the flail mower do cutting the broke limbs? Thanks
It doesn’t mind broken sticks too much.
Does it do better at shredding than a rotary on broken sticks?
Yes. It does more mulching than a rotary cutter. It won’t handle huge brush as well as a rotary cutter.
Thanks for your help. I have a 4 foot frontier. It does great. I wanted to get my property mowed faster so I bought a 6 foot bad boy. I have a 3039r. It handles it fine. Just don't cut near as good as the 4 foot frontier.
Quite frankly, I’m disappointed by the cut quality of ALL single spindle rotary cutters. They don’t do a good job of picking up the grass mashed down by the tractor tires.
I find that a flex wing 3 spindle cutter does much better. Have you seen our Rhino TS10 videos? This thing is amazing! Wonderful cut, and you can get a lot done. We are trying it on a 3039r tomorrow! Video coming next week sometime.
Well...I choose both of you to mow...you have to buy another 1023.
How much weight did you saddle on the front, did you factor in to balance the weight of the Flail?
8x 42lb weights. Probably more than needed. Just want to keep the front end on the ground.
Quick question? Will this work on my x739? I have a rear cat 1 limited 3 point, with a rear 540RPM pto.
The narrower versions would, yes.
@@TractorTimewithTim Thank you!
Christie should use Johnny for her filming tractor and Tim can do the tasks with Johnny 2
I pick Christy to get to stay and use the tractor.
Sorry Tim. Mark 12:31.
I hear Ventrac has a Flail Mower now.
Looks good too!
I've been seeing a lot of farm videos lately where they use a flail behind the tractor, or the offset on a boom cutting corn stalks.
Ya mean like ours...a few weeks ago?
@@TractorTimewithTim Yep! Some of the other farm families use them to mow corn stocks before planting soy beans, or a fall cover crop like rye, or instead of tilling before winter. I forgot their names, but several were in Kentucky.
Come on Tim... share your toys... lol
Why not just use a tracking drone
Sounds like you better go home Tim. 🤣🤣
Tim , you've been voted to go home . Sorry Bro .
Voted off the island! Oh well!
Nice video . Love watching you and your family try out new stuff .
Bye Tim.
Love to see one of the side-shift models next TTWT!
A quarter of the way through the mowing video it looks like the mower ran over a ring like a big coin ring if you watch the video real carefully you'll see what I'm talking about when they're getting a close-up of that their mowing unit it spits it out as it goes by a quarter the way through the video
12:00 I think she just doesn’t want to be cold.
Hi Christi & Tim.... great video. Are you running hammer blades or knive blades in your flail mower.
Hammers.
The cab is a spoiler for sure. Fun to see Christy enjoying herself, getting a break and doing a great job. And yes, the results look great. Blessings.
Good morning Tractor Time With Tim 🚜 and here's a cheese burger🍔😀
Tim keep the Financial Committee happy. It will be easier to get new "toys"
What would bee nice is a wild flower meadow for bees and birds or nature garden Tim what do you think?
Needed some quality indie to view! This is right on time. I always enjoy Tim and how he shared his knowledgeZ
Mow the brush around the building and cable areas so you can if needed use bigger equipment to clear early spring easier
ttwt was camra man good job
well that didnt take long for ttwt to take his spot back
should have sat the gator
jez 3 things wrong at ones ttwt your losing you touch
i pick ttwt
Good morning Tim and Christy it sure is nice to see christy having fun with the tractor. I know what it feels like to see a good sense of accomplishment. It doesn't feel good to do something and it doesn't look good when you are done. Thanks for sharing
Great video Tim I really like the flail!! Got a question? Since flail need to mow low to ground. What does a rocky area do too the flail. Like we're in a creek area. I have a7ft and I need to raise it to keep it out of rocks allot. Flail may not be my answer huh. I hate the rocks too so bad pasture area. Southern Indiana you know. I would like one for Johnny to mow the pasture I think it would be handy. Thank you so much for the video Tim and Kristy
Yea, tiny rocks...not so bad...big rocks embedded in the ground, not good.
Overall, you can cut higher with a rotary cutter.
Thank you Tim you guys are awesome
TTWC - Tractor Time with Christy! Tim I think you've been demoted to camera guy!
Hi,
I’m interested in buying a fleil mower. I have a kubota BX2380. I would appreciate very much any recommendation you could give me. I checked this one on eBay: 48" Field Flail Mower Cat.I 3pt 20HP+ Rating (FH-EF125)
Thank you!
Cristy Cam& Tim Cam, for you both can drive!
Tim, just curious about shipping at AgFolks. In video you stated shipping is included however when I go through checkout it is showing nearly $400 for shipping. Just curious if they have changed since video was made a few months ago.
Kind of sad I bought a frontier 48" brush hog w/my 1025r now. This cuts wider and seems like it has a lot of benefits over the brush hog style. Hmmm???
Awesome, Thanks for another great video, Have a great day all!
Only thing wrong is the flail mower body for volume of material go to a hi body flail mower. That mowers for pasture topping or vegetable topping prior to harvest. They are sensational for incorporating cover crops and building soils.
Let Kristy run the tractor 🚜 Tim!
12:30 everyone likes instant gratification.
My only complaint about doing a cut like that field is the 'Clogging ' of the radiator filter, sucks to get out and tap it clean to free it up.
Put a whisk broom on your tractor! I love mine!
SURE WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THAT FOR MY FARM
Just enter your credit card number, that’s all there is too it :)
...if that were only true, right??
Hi Tim, I’m wondering if you considered leaving your mid mount mower installed to protect the underside of your tractor from collecting all that brush underneath it or from having it get wrapped up in the driveshaft that goes from the engine to the transaxle?
The mid mower is one of the most expensive parts! No, wouldn’t want it on there for this :-)
Hi tim would a x740 john deere power this
Not this one, but you can get slightly narrower versions which it would handle fine!

Nice job guys, that flail mower did a great job with that thick dead grass and overgrowth. What is the name to the Boumalite unit you featured in this video? I’d like to look into getting one at some point.

Yeah , that junk will restrict airflow and cause your water temp to rise . I discovered this myself .
Yep.
Where did you buy your flail mower? Details on model number? BTW, I have a JD1025R and would like to purchase one. How did you decide on this brand/model. It’s hard to find information comparing brands, components, quality of materials, etc.
Maschio brand. agfolks.com use code ttwt for a 5% discount.
This is the 61” fixed. They have mechanical offset, and hydraulic offset as well.
The Maschio has upgraded gearboxes, and lots of attention to detail which the other brands do not.
Good morning! Great video on another flail mower, I'm starting to think I need one of these instead of a rotary cutter
I've been thinking the same thing, mostly because my small acreage is very hilly, so I'd like to keep the weight closer to the tractor. I would like to see it mow tall green growth as I think it would take more PTO power than these brittle stalks.
Terry I agree! And the price difference between this and a 4' cutter
I see your mower has whatI would call ‘skirt’. My mower ‘DelMarino funny top 132’ doesn’t have these and I was told they arn’t available.
Maybe you can help me find something like these.
You bought a lower end mower. Shoulda got the Maschio :-)
No, I don’t know where to get them.
i would like to see this combo in real green knee high stuff this next spring summer am thinking this would take less power than the 4 ft rotary and take bigger cut maybe what do you think tim
The flail mower does a great job! No problem for the 1025R. With a similar footprint to a tiller, the flail mower will fit in tighter areas and take up less storage space compared to a rotary cutter.
Personally I think the batwing does a nicer job and much faster but I’m sure you are just wanting to demo what the flail can do.
