In an interview, Angelina said she was inspired by the James Bond songs when writing this song. The song is about her mother and family support system protecting her - hence the title: Shield.
Angelina's original song is about her mother and the protection she offers to Angelina and for her family in general. Angelina's grandmother Mery directed the video. Mery is a well know Irainian artist.

Hello again my friend. Angelina was actually 12 here 🙂 She wrote this as a thanks to her family, who has always supported her dreams, and maybe also to her fans to some extent. She says "I'm sorry for all that I am", indicating that she's aware that they have given up on a few things along the way, to be able to do what they have been doing for her. I'm not sure, but I think that the sentence "Surround me with angels, don't let them go" MAY be a shoutout to her fans, which she calls her Angels.

Like the words on your badge - when I saw AJ in concert on the 10th July she said to the audience "Just be kind to everyone" She is so good to watch live.
You think it doesn't sound like her and in fact it's all her...she wrote it. But Angelina is not restricted to any one sound or genre for that matter. As an example of this listen to her sing How Great Thou Art, and I'm Still Holding Out For You. She does whatever, whenever and I love her for that. Nice review.

There’s another video of this song where she is singing with a band. This video is produced by her grandmother Mery who’s an artist. The song is about her family and how they have protected her through her walk as an artist. The other video is by far my favorite. You should watch it also. Thanks for your reaction!

Meri Zamani is Angelina’s grandmother. She is an artist and a poet and was a child prodigy in her own rights.

The elderly lady at the beginning of the video is not her grandmother. If I’m not mistaken she is a relative. Angelina appears at the beginning of the video at the doorway before she runs inside.

She's 12 here. She performed this original on Norwegian TV when she was 12. Mery - her grandmother and a well-known artist was the one who fed Angelina Jazz starting at 1 1/2 years old. I suspect that this was filmed in Norway before they moved to the states.
I think knowing it's about her family being a sheild makes perfect sense that the video is more youthful, they have given her the shield she deserves to live her life as a child while still exploring her musicality.

Mery Zemani is Angelina's grandmother, an artist, writer, etc. My guess is southern California might be the location. I keep waiting for the effigy to be burned, but that might not be smart to do anywhere in California, especially with the wind.... She said this song was inspired by Bond movie songs, when she introduced it to the public on an interview show. You know, mother and family dynamics are very complex, even in the most positive. Being shielded can sometimes be experienced as being held back, especially for someone who is maybe young and idealistic, thus not understanding the realities that necessitate the shield. If there is symbolism in the film, it needs some pondering to draw it out. As for the song, I like it, and I feel touched in my heart that it honors her mother as the front-runner of that protective family system.

One of Angelina's idols is Shirley Bassey, who sang the theme song "Diamonds are for ever" in a James Bond film, and Shield is loosely based on that genre. . She wrote the song in 2018, and it is her acknowledgement of the sacrifices her family have made in order that she is able to pursue her dream of singing for the world. My favourite performance of this song is one she gave in November 2018 at SVT/TV2/Skavlan. Even if you choose not to react to it, I urge you to watch and listen to it for your own pleasure. This is very much her as Shield is one of her 5 originals :-) But we mustn't agree: we share our views and feelings about beautiful music and if we disagree that is just fine and to be expected.
In an interview about the song she said she was inspired by James Bond and specifically Shirley Bassey with Diamonds are forever. She wrote this to thank her family for keeping her safe (shield), being an inspiration (you are my fire) and the burden she puts on them (forgive me for all that I am). Her family is tightly knit and very involved in her career.

BTW, in the Interview preceeding that she was asked if she would feel like a twelve year old, and she answered she does, when looking at her passport.
She also apparently had several Christmas concerts around that time, where at least in one she still had a white dress, while being colorful in the others. Maybe that was related to the "Shield" premiere as well.
So at least she changed her "branding" in that timeframe with the premiere of this song. I guess it might be related to the idea of transitioning from being a child to being a juvenile, maybe also related to her grandmother's cultural background, but that's only speculation.

The Music is James Bond like, though the song is basically talking about her family's support and protection if her. Mary is her Grandmother and her muse, a fellow artist. Mary has been involved in much of Angelina development, clothing, art, etc. Angelina arranges all her own what she performs/creates. Video wise not exactly sure what they were going for. As far as Angelina she is a jazz singer at heart, but she performs almost anything from A to Z. Many say she's the girl of a 1000 voices.

Excellent reaction and you shouldn't get flack! She had help with this, she was wanting a James Bond Film Sound. For that reason I'm sure there were some restraints required. She wrote this when she was 12, I believe Genius, being protected by your Loved ones, which includes The Big Man Upstairs. She is constantly trying new nuances but also having to adapt to ones she already knows as her voice changes. Thank God she has a strong work ethic, that even not seen by many adults, God Bless!

Her own songs are very different from each other.. experiencing a lot. Has had pro support on this..a collaboration.
"Not what you would expect"Expect, with Angelina that is what you should expect. She does many different styles and I think sometimes she is just trying them to see how they feel. She performed this song at least 4 times mostly in her 12th year and she was certainly developing it in that process.for me the performance on TV 2 "solakan?" Show was the best. It was arranged with the group Stargate whom she likes to work with and definitely influenced the style and hence the difference you noticed. Also please check out the interview on the show before she performed. It will give you a sense of her stage presence in an unreleased format.

I believe Stargate which is a Norwegian company who helps write and produce some of Angelina’s songs had a hand they are based in LA . Mery Zamani aka Mosarz is a world renowned poet and artist who is Angelina’s grandmother also has produced a lot of Angelina’s videos. This song is about her family and there protection. She wrote it at 12 and the best version is live, I think she was in Germany either doing a charity event or Germany’s little big shots.
No, Stargate only got involved after AGT. But she had help here from a different Norwegian author group: Aksel Carlson, Frida Amundsen, Ronny Janssen

This video almost need two separate reactions, one for the music and one for the visual art. The audio recording used here was first released in 2018, when Angelina was 12 years old, but comparing her voice in this recording to the live performance she did on TV when the single was released and weighing in how she sounds in other recordings up til then, I'd say it must have been recorded about two years earlier at the age of 10. Angelina has done nearly every genre and excelled at each. With all of the videos since 6 years old she has consistently experimented with different sounds and techniques. I have always felt that she does sound a little constrained in this, one of her first originals at 12 years old. This video is from 2019 when she was 13 but there is a of her performing this at 12 on stage on a TV show after a brief interview. During the interview they asked if she felt 12 and she answered only when she looks at her passport. Her versatility is amazing and here is the proof. You're thinking waaay too much into it, she was 12 when this was recorded, 12. It's an acknowledgment to her family as to the 'burden' of her fame that is thrust upon those she loves, and her wanting them to be her protectors, very simple. Her grandma Meri is a very accomplished artist and is the love of AJs life.
I'm not sure the video footage doesn't pre-date the song. She looks younger than when she performed the song on TV, so I'm not sure the footage was recorded with this or any specific song in mind.

I would think that from a performance couch perspective, this live version would have been more interesting. There are so many versions of Angelina’s songs out there so reactors are often chosing the ”wrong” ones.

I think you’re trying to force a connection between the lyrics and the visuals. Sometimes, we get videos of Angelina being herself while her vocals play behind her. The lyrics are serious and contemplative, the visuals are showing us Angelina having fun. Something very similar is a great video of very young Angelina in the desert with a horse while she lip syncs to one of her her beautiful versions of Fly Me to the Moon.
