Looking forward to see this on a video doing some live action drills against a range of targets. Well done on producing such a autonomous vehicle.
Excellent work, uncrewed vehicles are the future.
An extension of the tech used in many Australian mines and in many freight environments
All places that benefit from the type of "autonomy" I assume they're talking about. Autonomy in less planned/stable environments needs some compelling demonstrations. I suspect we're not at "get that sniper!" level yet.
"it can do everything an ifv can do, except for that one thing an ifv is primarily designed to do, cant do that at all"
did a real good job trying to word that as a positive
It is a positive, it means it can be used in a more aggressive manner without risking personnel being killed. This obviously isn't designed to replace troop transports but work alongside them. If this means less soldiers in harm's way and more support for those that are, how is that not a positive?
@@nuclearwaste002 ifv are troop transport, thats their purpose
they arent suppose to be used in an aggressive manner
@@vincentgrinn2665 No. APCs are transport. IFVs are meant to be used aggressively. it's in the name.
Armoured Personnel Carrier v Infantry Fighting Vehicle.
@@politenessman3901
What infantry? 😂 The infantry that IFVs support are carried in the back of the IFV..
Name an IFV that doesn't have passenger space.
@@WhatIsSanity They didn't say it was an IFV - perhaps if you watch the video you'd not be feeling so foolish now?
Ghost Wombat?
Start of a terminator movie
Long live Skynet!
Hasta la Vista baby 😂
Why does it have to be so large when it is not carrying any crew???
more ammo? :)
It probably doesn't - but for this v1.0 they said they tore everything out from their existing crew carrier. Less expensive way to build/market-test the idea.
It looks very thin in comparison to a normal IFV/APC though.
Still requires an engine, fuel, ammunition storage.
For it's balls !!!
I would like to see investment in unmanned vehicles for fire fighting service. All terrain land vehicles to support fire fighters and perform more hazardous missions. With air craft for water bombing and coordination of assets. More nations are confronted with bush fire/wild fire/grass fires threats through their dry seasons than ever before. Australia, New zealand,USA,Canada,South American countries, South African countries and increasingly countries in Europe such as Spain and Greece. With so many countries having to create rural fire fighting service's similar to Australia, USA and Canada this market would be worth many billions of dollars. Unmanned Fire fighting equipment would help protect both the "firey's" and the communities they are tasked with defending.
I guess the need for being unmanned is far less, as fires don't shoot at firefighters. But yes, it would be great to see constructive efforts to introduce autonomous vehicles and equipment to save staff in civilian contexts too.
Perhaps they can use the trunk space as a ground-based UAV launch and recovery platform.
I see no Autonomous missile kill systems, and no radar or passive radar, or Sat link what if it goes in a ditch and cant get out..??
The word autonomous is consistently used in the video, but if I'm not mistaken; the proper term is REMOTELY OPERATED. Why? Well can this vehicle go from Pt. A to Pt. B, without a remote driver having to constantly baby sit where the vehicle goes and where it shouldn't go?
This is the real requirement where militaries need help, TRUE autonomous pathfinding behavior.
Same with the Indians, when I was working in Saudi back 2012 I asked a worker to get a pail of water. They can't understand me. Terns out they use the word "bucket". Probably a language thing and they really mean remote.
Clearly says, it can be operated BOTH remotely and independently!!!
Amazing! How many will Australia acquire and what are our export opportunities?
None. Not part of any RFT.
When a boxer and a dwarf love each other very much……
Can it heat the interview room up ? I just saw the nice small scale model at the end .
BAE systems is actually IAI Israel aerospace industries
Does it have any lights?
Friend or foe recognition is going to be difficult
Terminator reference 😂
HOW MUCH! I’ll likely buy a LOT OF THESE. . But I want to also invest into the company and I have some addons.
It didn't look much smaller than wheeled IFV, despite not needing a space for 6-8 guys in the back. What all this space is used for?
Cargo
1:08: Typical sales pitch "it can do anything an IFV can do - except carry people". One of the key User Requirements of an INFANTRY Fighting Vehicle is to carry INFANTRY!!
Did they learn nothing from LAND 400?
They took er jobs!!!
so. IFV without place for infantry and with unreasonably big profile. "great"
Couldn´t it be lower? It looks like a crewed vehicle...
Cool
only one weapon and what type?
25mm bushmaster
only takes a blanket to be thrown over it, but pretty cool rc
thermal blanket from the first aid kit just to be safe
I see the problem of this vehicle in the low and poorly placed turret and the impossibility of operating over the horizon of the hill.
Show us it doing the stuff its supposed to be doing. Too many talking heads making big claims, and no potatoes.
No army is going to field autonomous or remote controlled land vehicles. Jamming and frequency piggybacking is so ubiquitous right now.
Ukraine is doing it right now. its the future
You can shield against jamming. Secondly, if they're truly autonomous, they're not communicating with the outside world just like Ghost Shark won't once she submerges as with every submarine. They simply go about their mission and return to base.
@@MightyKondrai you seem to have forgotten how little they have been used or achieved
@@jonomurphy1117 of course, because Ukraine is a poor country victim of one of the worst wars in recent history and just coming out of soviet doctrine. imagine what western funding and doctrine could achieve with such systems!
If it's autonomous it doesn't need any telemetry. Autonomy frees you from jamming and COMINT threats.
But what does it do after that entire spiel? I still have no clue what it's actually meant to do It's an infantry fighting vehicle without the infantry. If it doesn't have to carry people, then why is it so big? Weapon system manufacturers always talk in a weird double speak.
Still won't stand up to a $500 drone sporting a $100 RPG zip-tied to the underside. Back to the drawing board!
You did hear the bit when they said they can put different payloads on it, didn't you?
Look up the "Slinger" anti drone system.
A remarkable vehicle on paper, I would like to see how it performs when put through its paces and battle tested. My concerns are the impact of rapidly advancing electronic warfare that we see muting drones in Ukraine. My other concern is the level of autonomous capability given this is an unsolved problem and the uncertainty of terrain and battlefield landscapes and environments are infinite how well does it cope with these, can it distinguish friend from foe autonomously? Finally, what is the cost and manufacturing speed and volume? If we need to ramp up to the vehicle replenishment levels we see in the Ukraine war, do we have the budget, supply chain and manufacturing capacity to meet that demand? A will note that a $100 drone manufactured by the 10's of thousands using 3d printed parts can take out a 9 million dollar armoured vehicle.
VERY careful photography, giving no idea of scale!
1 FPV drone and its a multimillion dollar paper weight.
Shut up and take my money please ❤
Overpromise. Underdeliver. The story of the Defence Industry.
M113 Ute developed under RICO program is the future. This is possibly the ugliest ugv I’ve ever seen, please don’t waste anymore time and money on BAE. BAE should fix the Hunter class frigates cost overruns before we do anymore business.
Really??? I don't think an opposing force are going too concerned about the looks of a vehicle, they'll be more concerned about the capability and the damage it can do.
Time will tell !!🤔 But unscrewed vehicle development is important for 🇦🇺✔️
all it takes is a 5 year old boy with a can of spray paint to climb that thing and cover the camera lens, all of them. That was the main reason the US mil. did not have much success with armed drones on the ground when engaging ISIS back in the late 2000s. Every time you see ISIS traveling the country side with a 4-6 year old boy in tow you know it's them.
test in ukraine
Replacement for mech inf… no dimensions, no weight, no armament specs… just nothing of substance.. good graphics?
You can tell this is propaganda since the algorithm favoured this video more than all their other videos.
Goofy looking thing. Will this actually be useful?
