The reason it worked is that they need to vote in unison, otherwise, they risk a tie and a loss. Since Toast didn't have that much suspicion on him, aside from Lily, people went with his vote to avoid the tie, because Toast always yells who to vote at the last second anyways.

An explanation on how Sydney saw the double kill on the other side of a door: The game I think makes darkness work by masking. Everything around you is always visible but are just covered by the darkness mask. The objects are covered by a darkened version of the map and whenever your vision bubble touches an object (door, rock, barrel, etc.) It is excluded from the mask. Sydney's bubble just so happens to touch the door of weapons where it unmasked Rae and Poki double killing behind of. Very unlucky.

The game I think makes darkness work by masking. Everything around you is always visible but are just covered by the darkness mask. The objects are covered by a darkened version of the map and whenever your vision bubble touches an object (door, rock, barrel, etc.) It is excluded from the mask. Sydney's bubble just so happens to touch the door of weapons where it unmasked Rae and Poki double killing behind of. Very unlucky.
