Awesome job! I went there for the experience and learning opportunity as well. Great seeing you up there! I was fortunate to catch big bass 6-13 there even though my draws were struggling. It was a great experience and learned a ton about fishing out of the back of the boat that I’m not used to as well. Love the videos.
Great video and I love hearing your perspective on the co-angler position. You did amazing and it truly speaks volumes on your skills and ability. I can see a video in your future on… How I back my bass boat into the water. LOL!
Love watching your videos. I think it should be required watching for anyone that wants to or is into tournament angling at any level. You have all the attributes of a great angler and a great human being. Even after you win your first Bassmaster Classic please don’t change a thing
Oops I lost you. Great job. Congratulations. I fished some co angle tournaments in Flw. Was really fortunate to have some great antlers except one. All the other ones helped me and I learned a lot. It was like we were partners. I’m 67 and just had knee replacement surgery and when I recover I’m getting back into it. You’ll have more great anglers than bad. Enjoyed you sharing your experience. Co angle is such a learning experience. Hang in there. It’s Al about fun. 👍

But you got out there and adapted to what you were dealt with and got fish that is awesome great job and another great finish. Keep up the good work and can't wait for another great video. Thanks again. Peace out.
Good job Kristine......I also fished the Open. Actually came in second place. We were in the second flight the second day so had to sit and wait for a loooong time. Was leading all the way till next to last flight but I keep looking at who hadn’t weighed in yet and saw your name. No lie that’s when I got nervous because I’ve seen your vids of fishing Pickwick before and you’re a 🔨 so I was like there’s no way I make it past her !!! 😄 Also fishing the next one on Smith so maybe get to say hi. Again Good Job !!!
Thanks for being so transparent & fearless. No matter what you do, whether you stay in the kayak tournament world, or move into bass boat territory, you’ll always stand out as a winner to me. I can’t really say what I’d rather do, because i’ve actually never fished any sort of tournament! I think based on my experience level, I’d do better & learn more as a co-angler, but I’d probably enjoy the kayak tourneys a lot more.
@@kristinefischer2289 Yep, and I imagine the payouts are a lot bigger once you get into the big bass tours. You’ve definitely got the knowledge & skills to dominate, and I could see you blazing massive trails in the sport for women!
Kristine Fischer, great job covering co-angling. I've done it for a couple of years and you hit all the main points. The things I liked best were meeting new anglers and being stuck fishing outside my comfort zone. Kind of makes you fish harder! One of the "weird" things though is going 65+ mph across some rough water with somebody you don't even know if they can drive a boat.
Great video! Your perspective as a kayak angler was very interesting. I haven’t followed boating tournaments, so it was neat hearing about the different challenges you encountered as well as the boater’s mindset on covering so many spots. As always, you rock! 👍🏻👍🏻
I believe that folks who are wanting to get into bass tournaments or trying to learn new techniques for different areas of the country. Fishing as a non-boater is almost essential. If you’re a person who’s had experience fishing tournaments, even more in different regions. I personally feel that the boater side is more suited to you. This being you’re first time ever fishing bass tournaments from a boat, I think the non-boater way was the perfect choice! Not saying you don’t have the skill, fortitude or knowledge(because you have that in droves) just that it’s a foreign fishing style for you. I think after this season as a non-boater, you’ll definitely have the feel and knowledge to be a boater for sure!!!
Back in the day I was a co-angler until I moved up to boater. Big change. You did great for your first time. I've paddled a kayak around 1 time. Never fished from one. You are way far ahead of me. Makes my day to see you do good.
HI Kristine, I have a lot of good memories as co-angler. I got a reputation for bringing great food. Home baked pastries and great grilled meats on sandwiches... The fact that I was a tireless angler and could put fish in the well that put our team on the board, was a plus too... Bringing things like a good first aid kit saved the day once also. My Pro, got a "rattlin rogue" hooked in his cheek early in the day, he set the hook and the fish was not quite ready...lure came at him quicker than he could turn away...He would not let me work on it, cutting hooks and such, instead, he settled for some anesthetic gel and a good bandage. We took second place and he stopped at a clinic on the way home for a real doctors help. Thats a tough angler... I think of him each time I tie on a rattlin rogue. I sure enjoy your videos. I like the way you are. Smiling, George.
When you reach the goal of professional bass boat tournament angler don’t beat the boys to bad. They may have fragile egos.😂😂😂. Thanks for taking us along. Stay safe, God Bless.
Thanks for sharing your experience. Fishing as a co angler is an great way to learn. Always have to have an open mind. Makes you have to be able to adapt to different situations when you are not the one planning the day out. I believe the majority of boaters don't want to see their co angler struggle. Looking forward to more videos.
You are an inspiration to both women and men anglers. It is smart to "test" the waters in the bass boat side of competitive angling. Never stop learning! You have the drive, knowledge and love for the sport to go in any direction you want to go. If you choose to go into the bass boat side, I have no doubt you can get sponsored and lead the pack.
You and those 14th place checks! All learning is beneficial. Glad you did the co- angler trip. Stick to what you do best. Enjoy it. Thank God you are able
Lol, I feel you, I stack 10-12 rods in the pa14 myself. Double up those rod tubes. The hookset sitting down vs. standing is definitely an adjustment. Honestly when Im fishing from the yak, I almost almost always use thinner, finesse hooks. Even on my t-rigs I use gamakatsu g-finesse ewg hooks. They are thinner, and you gotta make sure not to bend out big fish, But they set themselves being thin wire. I use it to compensate for the less power hooksets from being seated. Then whenever Im fishing from a boat or shore using superline hooks or something, I will often swing so hard on em, I actually overcompensate and it can cause problems. You seem to be successful fishing in any format, Thats awesome. I wish I was on the same level. Gratz
Loved seeing this video wrap-up of your Co-Angler experience. I was genuinely impressed that you simply referred to yourself as a Co-Angler or as an Angler. Girl Power is nice, however it is MORE REFRESHING to see you getting your fish in the boat! And you did that beautifully! 👏 BRAVO to you! As a former Police Dispatcher in the 1970s there were very few women on the force. I learned from my male counterparts and worked well in the male dominated field. It's a THIN LINE TEMPERED WITH BALANCE, YOU DANCED IT BEAUTIFULLY !! THAT WAS AWESOME !!
One thing I do as a co angler since I’m in the back of the boat I check on my fish and my boaters fish pretty regularly. Just to make sure everything is fine. I’m kinda ocd about it. But good thing I am because I also had an issue with the live well not working. I told my boater he tinkered with it and got it working again. Fortunately for us no fish died. I’d recommend checking the live wells often. And keep a bottle of g juice with you. Most boaters have this already but in case they don’t I keep a bottle with me.
Nice job! I also just fished my first tourney as a co in a small local club. Fist day we were cruising around and catching. Second day with a different boater, we literally sat in one spot all day long. It was so crazy! I ended up 4th with a lil over 20# on two days. Can’t wait to go again! Keep the vids coming!
I am excited for you that you finally pulled the trigger on the boat side of competitive fishing you will be the boater and not the co angler in no time I bet and making the top 10 cut in no time as well wish you the best and look foward to the videos!

The real question is if you could get into your own boat (sponsored) would you leave behind the kayak scene? Or would kayak fishing be too hard to walk away from. Would it just be a matter if money (sponsors) to sway the decision? Great job in that event as well!
What an experience for you to be able to get in on. Im a firm believer in mental attitude in anything we do, That and we never stop learning at any age. I think you did very well as a co-angler. I have been in the back many times as well as the front. The only drawback I ever had is when the other angler wanted to go down a bank at a high speed trolling..then your hindered in my opinion. Can't wait for your next videos. Good luck!
I love the fact that not only men but women are also competing in bass tournaments and it just shows that anyone can do anything, I personally am a high school student that would love to do what you are doing and I was wondering if you had any tips that could help me get into the competitive angling world and possibly at some point, an opportunity to be a co angler.
I admire your willingness to travel that much with all those bad drivers out there. I'll be competing in the Sam Rayburn. Hope to run into you just to say hi and wish you luck.
Great to see a female bass anglers making her way based on bad ass skills and not by putting out videos fishing in a bikini. You are the real deal. Can’t wait to see you as a boater in one of the big leagues someday.
Congratulations!! I’ve been fishing as a Co for 3 years now. 1st year I did like you and went in open minded to have fun and learn and dig great. Cashed 2 checks and got Big Bass at one. 2020 was bad so I didn’t fish to many. One I did fish was a bad situation like you kinda had. I practiced and was on the Smallmouth, like every cast and where to fish. My boater I drew was fishing for Largemouth. Bummer but I tried. It was 1 o’clock and neither of us had a fish so he finally asked me what I thought. We went where I told him and I caught 3 back to back and he wanted to leave to try a few more of his spots for Largemouth with no success. Made me mad especially since I was in 2nd place going into it and it was his first tournament and ended up not even weighing in. Ughhh I was mad but it’s part of it. Doing ok this year but I’m ready to get up front and make my own decisions. Like you i’d rather pick good places apart. So good luck on your next one. Love the videos!!
Honest question, do you see yourself in a bass boat soon? I’ve done the co a lot to learn. Recently won a bfl on pickwick as a co and your very right. There’s so much out of your hands but it gives you a perspective nothing else will!! I’ve been on boats with boaters way more experienced then me and I’ve been on boats with a kid fishing his first ever tournament period. So awesome to see you make that switch and try something new!
@@kristinefischer2289 well take it from someone whose been in over 30 co angler events. You are ready to take the bass boat world by storm. I tried to go back from being in a bass boat to kayak fishing and couldn’t do it so that kayak fishing experience and grit is something I’ll never have bc with you all your pretty much gotta fish hard on an area and make the best out of it. Either way I really enjoy the videos and I’ll continue to watch no matter which way you go! Great job!!!
You need to fish the Opens next year as a boater. You are a sponsors dream and should be able to find some backing. Your buddy, Trait could hook you up. Good luck in the rest of them.
Thanks for being a role model for my daughter in a male dominated industry! She’s loves to kayak and fish and I hope by seeing other women in the industry she will see it’s possible for her to succeed at the highest levels!
Great wrap up!! Nice that you had such good pro’s for your first tourney, had to make it a bit easier lol. Big boat tournies have the $$& but I don’t see it meshing with your style. They are just killing the lakes with pressure. I live in central WI and Big Green Lake is (was) a favorite lake to fish. Starting next weekend til the middle of August there is a tourney there every weekend. And I won’t even go into sturgeon bay. It all seems like it’s just too much, a sign of the times I guess. Sorry to be negative but the fish need an advocate lol. Can’t wait for the Utah vid!!
Your truly awesome Kristen, if you EVER decide to qualify for the Elites, let people know cause I am certain you will have no trouble getting sponsors!!! Congrats on the 14th place finish!!!
It's so true about your finish being dependent on your draw. Had a couple of tournaments where I did good one day and terrible the next and it was because of the boater. Realized being a co angler wasn't for me. Great job adapting and getting a check!
I'm no a competitive person so I see the bassmaster very stressful but for a person that love that challenger it would be like playing the superbowl , you did great as alway , see you in the bassmaster elite series next year
So when you're a co angler does that mean you don't have to have a boat? If so, that's awesome. I would have no problem with splitting costs on gas and such.
Laughing, I fished as co angler with a Pro who was known for back boating the co. When we were loading up the boat that morning pre tournament, I gave him two small bandaids. He held them and looked at me...Huh? I said, these were for the tops of his ears if he backboated me all day. Line burns.... : )
Dude, as a co you are limited to the back 180, period. Do you not know how these events work? If you said that in my boat I guarantee you would have never been in a position to catch a single fish all day. You have no concept of wha being a co is all about. Quit whining and put your big boy pants one and enter as a boater ... good luck with that ...
@@theultimatesteelshooter8610 me too. As a co angler back then, I always brought good food, homemade carrot cake for instance, grilled bratwurst and peppers and onions... And, as it was often a team tournament, I put pounds of bass in the well. All good.
Good evening I just bought myself a membership to the MLF lead I want to do a co-angler event and I don't know which one to sign up for I live in Florida this'll be my first time being a co-angler and doing something like this
Congratulations Kristine on your tournament finish & experience as a Co-Angler. You took home some money home for your efforts. You are a competitive fishing lady. I would suggest that you leave the camera alone, to fully concentrate on catching fish. It is a Live Tournament & Not a You Tube program. Your Success will lead you to becoming the Lead Angler on a boat. Not handicapped in sitting in the back of a boat. I wish you Much Better Success in your Future Fishing Tournaments. KEEP FOCUSED. 👍👍
Great job. Catching the fish is not the hardest part of being a co-angler. I think that figuring out how to fish to maximize your fishing is the most important part.
Lough style fishing that we do here, is a very acquired taste. It's wind and waves, and nothing more. That blows boats (causes them to drift miles at a time), over acres of water. For trout in British and Irish lakes.
So it's seen as conventional way to fish. For centuries here, not even decades. Two things about it. Always two anglers, and one boatman (three in a single boat). Which is far less atonomous. And these boats do drift and move. Real quick (even though on lakes, it doesn't seem like you're moving, you alwats are).
For that reason. The equation gets flipped upside down. In rivers, you are relatively static. And the water moves relative to you. On large stillwater. The lake stays where it is. And you move relative to it. So in terms of fishing. Everything is turned. On it's head.
And even when it's the same species. Bass, trout whatever. Anglers who catch the same species. But catch them. In rivers, creeks, head waters. As opposed to anglers who fish. Open stillwater. Are really different. In how they roll. To an outsider. They may seem exactly similar. And even have same flies and tackle. However, that is where similarities end abruptly.
Some personalities. Some approaches seem suited. Either to do one. Or another. This is where written literature. Was always important. I've 'read' some of the texts. Of the great influential stillwater anglers. Over the years. And while I'm the other kind of angler. I got a lot of understanding. From reading of stillwater angling. They discovered things, that can apply directly.
River anglers here, tended to freak out. At parts of rivers, that turned into mini lakes, or large ponds. And if you've studied the classic stillwater angling texts. That water presents less problems (instead it can offer opportunities), to a river angler. But if I had never 'done my homework'. Every bit of water I fished. Would have to be. Moving quickly. Or I would be lost too.
You are an incredible fisherman. I have the highest respect for you.

Appreciate that man!
Yep you’re definitely at their mercy
Honest question, do you see yourself in a bass boat soon?
I’ve done the co a lot to learn. Recently won a bfl on pickwick as a co and your very right. There’s so much out of your hands but it gives you a perspective nothing else will!! I’ve been on boats with boaters way more experienced then me and I’ve been on boats with a kid fishing his first ever tournament period. So awesome to see you make that switch and try something new!
It’s definitely something I’m thinking hard on
@@kristinefischer2289 well take it from someone whose been in over 30 co angler events.
We will see! :)
OK OK OK< Vacations over get back to work! Hope all is well.
Thanks for being a role model for my daughter in a male dominated industry! She’s loves to kayak and fish and I hope by seeing other women in the industry she will see it’s possible for her to succeed at the highest levels!
I love comments like this! ❤️
Kristine, That's nice to see the podium bass pose. Keep them coming.
Your Awosome!
God bless
Yes I agree... tourneys especially summer ones definitely aren’t easy on the fish - I think our CPR format in kayak events is the best
Consider asking Berkley if you are looking for sponsor, they are introducing new baits that should give you an edge
Costa needs u girl..its coming soon
You will be in the front of the boat in no time and have all the control 💯 ...you have the IT factor
We shall see ... do love kayak world ;)
Your casting skills are on point! You're just more use to standing on the nose of a kayak like a ninja!
Yes that is so dang true ahah
I'm no a competitive person so I see the bassmaster very stressful but for a person that love that challenger it would be like playing the superbowl , you did great as alway , see you in the bassmaster elite series next year
Are you planning on fishing the hobie on Hartwell?
Yes
So when you're a co angler does that mean you don't have to have a boat? If so, that's awesome. I would have no problem with splitting costs on gas and such.
14th place in your first open as a co is dang good!
Great learning experience, being in your kayak and making all the decisions is hard to beat though.
Yes it is- I feel best about those tourneys !
Hi, How to sign up for bass master opens????
@@theultimatesteelshooter8610 it was humor. He laughed, we had a great day.
Fair enough but my comments about what I’d do if someone was serious stand 😬. I stopped tolerating poor behavior from other humans a long time ago
@@theultimatesteelshooter8610 me too. As a co angler back then, I always brought good food, homemade carrot cake for instance, grilled bratwurst and peppers and onions... And, as it was often a team tournament, I put pounds of bass in the well. All good.
Good evening I just bought myself a membership to the MLF lead I want to do a co-angler event and I don't know which one to sign up for I live in Florida this'll be my first time being a co-angler and doing something like this
Great job out of the back!
Thank you!!
VERY well said
how bad do you get front ended in the opens?
Heck u can out fish some the pros i fish with...no names mentioned...lol
Lol I decided to leave the hobie fishing world and start bass boat fishing I just got a boat a week ago and you're already tourney fishing on a boat 😅
I want to see you at the front of the boat, you'd be Killing It up front!!
We shall see!
I have a question for you if you don't mind me asking did you have your magdraft rig weedless or not
You can't win if you don't try...You took the first step in becoming a champ.
UTAH!!!!! (PINEVIEW?)
I WISH!
I absolutely hate not being in my own boat.
It’s only a matter of time you’ll be front seat.
I fished with him on lay lake
