Why isn't Jesse on Tour with Morris Day when he tours the country & plays all these old-school concerts singing all those hits by the Time? Would love to see Jesse on guitar playing & singing with Morris!
Money and probably because he has his own revue. They do awards and benefits. And he recorded with them as The original 7, when they couldnt use the name when prince was alive.
Jesse cowrote jungle love so naturally he will riff on it on his show. Jesse is a great guitarist.
I think they had a falling out right after they released that last album Condensate because I recall Jesse in an interview saying they had planned a Time tour with the original members then they lost interest and he was pissed because he said he had bought some new gear thinking they were going on tour and it never happened.
@@Neosoulgroovydude Actually Jesse wrote and helped co-write a lot of songs but Prince never credited him for it. He wrote songs for Sheila E, Vanity 6, Mazerati, Janet Jackson, After 7, Da Krash, etc.
Sheila E's The Glamorous Life was actually written for Vanity but her and Prince fell out.
Egos, imagine a mega group like the time with jam and Lewis with Morris and then add JJ .. shoot there was too many chiefs

Beautiful voice
JJ was the only guitarist during the Prince era that gave Prince a run for his money. Prince knew it that's why he intentionally broke up The Time. Prince didn't want nobody out shining him especially on guitar. The Time was "FONKY" as hell and Prince knew they had waaaay to much talent! So of course Prince broke them up because The Time would have probably upstaged the Revolution on certain venues. Anyway, JJ was and still today extremely good at guitar. Keep the funk alive 🤘!
Morris broke it up hanging out all night being late for rehearsal & it pissed prince off & morris got pissed & left after the purple rain tour without saying bye!!!!!
Prince’s other guitar player Dez Dickerson could play everything Prince played on guitar and then some.

Yeah, JJ is one of those guitar players like Stevie Ray Vaughn, who has the spirit of 100 dead blues guitar players living in him! Lol That's why you've never seen a video of Prince and Jesse "trading solos" over a song. Those 100 spirits would take over and it would not be pretty :-) Nothing against Prince, but Jesse solos have "surprise note choices" in them, and actually keep building in energy...from start to finish. If you check out the "Bare My Naked Soul" video on YT, you'll see that Jesse may have 99 problems, but keeping up (or besting) Prince on guitar ain't one! Lol
