I think the railfanning community in India should join together in demanding that IR take steps to clean up all its properties by removing trash and litter and moving to stop passengers from littering. I have watched at least 300 videos made by a variety of railroading enthusiasts in India which document the fact that HUGE amounts of trash are simply thrown out of open train windows or off platforms in stations. Only once in all the videos I've watched have I seen anyone actually picking up and removing any litter from IR property. The amount of litter alongside IR tracks and in stations and railyards is a national disgrace. India and IR can do much better!! PM Modi has instituted a Clean Up India campaign which, I believe, the railfanning community in India should enthusiastically support. An effective first step might be to encourage station managers to increase the number of trash receptacles on platforms and in stations and see that they are properly and regularly emptied. India is blessed with a huge national railway system which transports millions upon millions of passengers but which seems to care little about the cleanliness or suitability of its properties or equipment for serving the public.
