Korn's First entire album is gold. Next two albums have the most bad ass songs ever. Like Dead Bodies Everywhere. Lead singer Jonathan Davis was being forced by his family to be a mortician. Yes he had to learn how to prepare dead bodies for viewing at funerals. He did this straight out of High School in Bakersfield California, a two hour drive from where I live. Anyway he left that job to join Korn, which his parents were not happy about. He was abused as a child and a lot of Korn's first songs come from the anger and frustration that he had to go through growing up in a toxic home.

I was at Woodstock 99 I would totally watch a reaction to it. Netflix has a pretty accurate documentary about it. The acts at Woodstock that stuck with me the most were Korn, Metallica, Rage Against the Machine, The Offspring and The Red Hot Chili Peppers. At the time DMX seemed like an afterthought but he was good, I was hoping Godsmack's set would be better, but it was also on the smaller stage so much less people there and it didn't have the feel of the other acts. Even thinking of the fairgrounds is nostalgic though. The campground, the never-ending drum circle, the late-night rave when all the other bands stopped playing. I was awake nearly the entire 3 days. I just took one 20-minute nap in a puddle by the showers (that may or may not have had sewage in it. it was day 2) I would definitely go again though.
Watching your Woodstock reaction now I'll drop you a comment there also. With more details about my experience because I believe you vaguely referenced this comment in your intro to the video.
I played bass in the 90's with the best drummer I ever knew while serving in the Marine Corps. He turned me on to Tool, Korn, Deftones, Fear Factory, Rage against the Machine, Machine head, Life of Agony, etc. When I was discharged in '98, Korn and Deftones' first albums spoke directly to my rage and anger and were the friends I never knew. Tool presented later as a spirit guide out. Your reaction to this song is not unexpected, and your need to go back to hear again is completely understood and forgiven. I would suggest Deftones Lifter as your next nu metal song. Trust this Marine. It will wrap around your emotional centers and boil things to your conscious center in a way that you may not want to show in a first reaction video. God bless you, sir, and happy Victory Day!
@@danielshea518 that tells me that you came into the picture when korn was already popular? I followed them since mid 90s.. You could have chosen a better song
Please react to a band called (hed)pe, they opened for Korn on Korns 1st major tour which was for this album. (hed)pe is metal, punk music infused with hip hop, songs I suggest are Suffa, Renegade, Killing Time, Ordo Ab Chao or Bartender. Thx & keep the great reactions coming.
I saw Korn in 1994 when I went to see White Zombie. I hadn't even heard of them,or heard any of their music. I wasn't sure what to think of them at the time because they were so different from anything else I had heard. But they have definitely become one of my favorite Nu-Metal bands in the years since 😉
I had the same reaction. This was the first Korn song I ever heard. I was eleven years old, and it was OVER. I've loved hard rock ever since, and Korn is still my favorite band of all time.
I was in the crowd at Woodstock, maybe 200ft from the stage. It was wild. Check out "Dead Bodies Everywhere" and "Counting on Me" by Korn at some point.
I'm enjoying the hell out of your Korn reactions! I saw them a couple weeks ago on this albums 30th anniversary tour! I got to see all of these songs live and 30 years later, they are still killing it! One off my bucket list!
daddy is all about shock value as a request for a reaction, and shouldn't be anywhere near the beginning of the Korn journey. Just really no need for that song to be reacted too, so many bangers they made, I have zero interest in seeing someone's reaction to that song personally, I dont get why so many want that song reacted, its just shock value. I do think it should be listened to, I just see no need for us to see a reaction of it. Just my opinion though.
This was the first KoRn music video from their 1994 self-titled debut album... It was something completely new in the 'alternative rock' 90's... 'Blind' was the introduction of this band to the world by MTV cos radio would not touch them initially... By 1996, the album went gold (half million copies sold) in the US and heralded the arrival of the new generation of heavy rock music after the tragic end of Nirvana in '94... a mix of 90's hip hop and heavy rock w/ lyrics about angst, rage and childhood trauma - It was a dark record for sure but energetic and incredible. Originally formed in Bakersfield, California... the members started out as the band L.A.P.D. before Jonathan Davis (lead vocals) joined in 1993 and KoRn was born w/ Brian 'Head' Welch & James 'Munky' Shaffer (guitars), Reggie 'Fieldy' Arvizu (bass) and David Silveria (drums)... The band was introduced to producer Ross Robinson to work on their debut album and signed w/ Immortal Records (which signed distribution w/ major label Epic Records) Jonathan Davis was struggling w/ drug abuse at the time ... he delved into his childhood traumas and the abuse he had suffered for lyrical inspiration on the record. One of the tracks for the album was particularly disturbing, which closed the debut album - 'Daddy'... it was about Davis being sexually assaulted as a child by a family friend and his parents refusing to believe him... While tracking the vocals for the song, Jonathan Davis couldn't finish it and broke down in tears, screaming hysterically in the studio... That was included in the final version that made it on the record. Davis was a huge fan of The Cure and their brand of angst... so a lot of that inspired the lyrics. KoRn released the album in 1994 and started actively touring in 1995 as MTV put the singles - 'Blind'... 'Clown'... and 'Shoots and ladders' on airplay. The 'KoRn' album became a classic and has sold 2x platinum in the US to date. KoRn released a more hardcore 2nd album 'Life is peachy' in 1996... it sold gold faster than the debut album w/ only 1 major single - 'A.D.I.D.A.S' ... It was their 3rd album 'Follow the leader' in 1998 that broke KoRn into superstardom as the album went 5x platinum in the US w/ 2 major singles - 'Got the life'... and 'Freak on a leash'... The album also featured rappers Ice Cube, Tre Hardison of Pharcyde... and Cheech & Chong on a cover of 'Earache my eye'.
I got to hang out backstage with Korn when they played the Krazy House in Liverpool in '96 and we listened to some of their new stuff with them before the second album released. Bands just wouldn't do that with fans now. I miss the '90s so much. Music was just different. It meant something.
Righteous reaction brother. This song was most of our first introduction to Korn when it first came out and I remember being blown away hearing it for the first time. It was like nothing I'd ever heard before, like "WTF was that?! Turn that sht up and play it again!"
0:39 logical. I’ll never know why people react to the live version first. But I will say out of metal live shows, the Woodstock’99 is as close as you can get to the studio version and the crowd was insane. I was 17 and my friend and I ordered it on Pay-Per-View and I couldn’t believe how insane the crowd got, it was truly a site to see.
saw this on MTVs Headbangers Ball Back in the days and got instantly hooked. saw them on their first european club tour with 250 people in Frankfurt Germany. was mesmerising!! fan since then...
I love seeing people younger than me discovering music I grew up on and having the same reaction I did when I first heard it. This song was my introduction to any type of metal and it blew my mind apart, I was instantly hooked.
I, for one, love to see when you get caught up in the songs and rewind just as I did myself back when all these songs came out. There is still hope for heavy music, thank you for helping spread the word!
I am from that era 90s Nu Metal there’s nothing like it! Till this day people I hung out with still listen to this bands now my daughter like the same bands I used to listen to and we rock together!
What you should do is hear the original first, then find the demo version of it to see how it was intended coming to fruition... try it with any band (tool, korn, limp) I.e blind-demo sounds different a bit with additional parts
This is THE song that defines Korn, in my humble opinion. The first song on the first album, and quite possibly the first ‘nu-metal’ song ever released. Also the first Korn song I ever heard, and it blew my brain out all over! Pieces of it are still there, left back on the floor, ceiling and walls of the 90’s… And then, just a couple of years later I heard ‘Future Breed Machine’ by Meshuggah. There went an other chunk of what brain I was left with. Growing up in the 90’s was NO JOKE man. They were hard times. Hard and fucking heavy!!! 🤘🔥
Man, I'm a 36 year old half English man half legit Florida man. My dad is English my mom is American. I grew up listening to all kinds of amazing music but when I was around 13 I started to completely fall in love with 90's and early 2000's rock. Korn is one of my favorite bands ever. It's so cool to see you falling in love with this music too.
I was there when they filmed the live performance at Chain Reaction in Orange Country, Ca. In fact, I have the other bands that played that night on video as well - one (Strife) on my channel - made me put the camera away for their video lol. But, yes, live they're absolutely insane, especially in a small venue. Cool to see this reaction. Cheers!
When I was 14 my friend’s older brother went to a local concert it was Danzig which was big at the time. As he was there the 2 opening bands were Marylin Manson and Korn!!! He came back from the show and had the cassette tape of Korn’s first record and played it for us. He said get ready to have your mind blown the first min I heard blind the first track. I was numb I’ve never heard anything like this loved them since.
Saw them concert with my kid a little over a year ago. The live show is next level. Freak on a Leash, Make Me Bad, Twisted Transistor, Coming Undone...bring it all!!!!
You're killing me Mollyboy. As you say be kind and rewind... when you said oh what the fuck is that chunky bass I had to rewind it at least five times 😂😅

I was probably 15 when this hit, and when my friends and I heard it...... it KINDA changed everything. I think that might be a pretty universal sentiment from a lot of people about Korn's music around that time. And that's pretty big praise. These guys were a soundtrack to a LOT of people's stories. It's awesome to see you experiencing that with fresh ears and keeping it alive. Thanks man! Keep rocking

Twenty five years ago I was 20 years old and at my first concert. I had just seen an odd band named Orgy play and now it was time for the main event. The place is pitch black and I'm standing with a couple hundred people in the pit, shoulder to shoulder, tight af. Then we hear the cymbals start and you literally feel everyone tense up, was wild. Lemme tell you when you hear Jonathan Davis scream that epic "ARE YOU READDDDYYYY" that you're in for one helluva rush and a lot of bruises in the pit. The lights flash on and everyone is jumping up and down and off of one another, all in unison. It was the best time I ever had at a concert. Good shit, man.
i love experiencing when young bucks see for the first time what we grew up with. they had no idea how cool the late 90's early 2k's were. we had some really good years. not the same as the 70's - 90's but still very powerful music.
I was paid security at Woodstock,,, main stage AKA East Stage,,,I was literally right in front of them while they played Woodstock 99. Real stuff my guy. You need to watch this. I wasn't even a KORN fan at the time. That has since changed 🤘🤘🤘

Watching your Woodstock reaction now I'll drop you a comment there also. With more details about my experience because I believe you vaguely referenced this comment in your intro to the video.
AAAARRRREE YOOOOOOUUUUUU RRRREEEAAAADDY???????????
If you like bass riffs you're gonna love Deftones - My Own Summer
Korn should be on everyone's playlist. Wait til he hears "Freak on a leash" His brains will seep out from his headset. lmao!
"Coming undone " is my favorite KORN song.
Aye.....im....
Mine is Falling Away From Me; it was the first song of theirs I heard.
Really? Then you’re not a true korn fan !!
@@ilegallaws3741 - And what exactly IS a " REAL Korn fan"? Just because you like different songs? Go away.
@@danielshea518 that tells me that you came into the picture when korn was already popular? I followed them since mid 90s.. You could have chosen a better song
This gives me hope for your generation. ROCK ON!!
Yes!! This!! They are badass! Suck it Up and Swan Dive too!
Absolutely do the live version!!! ARE YOU READY? That beginning bass note is so much more pronounced and the crowd is INSANE!
Also mate...I know you got a mega list going on, but......
Trivium,.
A gunshot to the head of trepidation.
That's your first metal core banger..😉👊🏻
One of my favourite bands 🤘
The Clash "Rock the Casbah." English rock band that formed in London in 1976. The video's fantastic. A Jew and a Muslim go to the concert together.
Korn fucking rules 😮😊
I saw Korn in 1994 when I went to see White Zombie. I hadn't even heard of them,or heard any of their music. I wasn't sure what to think of them at the time because they were so different from anything else I had heard. But they have definitely become one of my favorite Nu-Metal bands in the years since 😉
I'm glad you listened to the studio first, because you're right, the Woodstock version goes off the scale. The crowd reaction is sick.
Indeed we lost our fucking minds when that bass note hit
I had the same reaction. This was the first Korn song I ever heard. I was eleven years old, and it was OVER. I've loved hard rock ever since, and Korn is still my favorite band of all time.
I was in the crowd at Woodstock, maybe 200ft from the stage. It was wild.
Check out "Dead Bodies Everywhere" and "Counting on Me" by Korn at some point.
This was the first Korn song I ever heard.. probably about 13yo and it blew my mind.
Dude... you don't rewind enough.
I'm enjoying the hell out of your Korn reactions! I saw them a couple weeks ago on this albums 30th anniversary tour! I got to see all of these songs live and 30 years later, they are still killing it! One off my bucket list!
If you listen to their song daddy, make sure its the lyric video.. But prepare yourself
daddy is all about shock value as a request for a reaction, and shouldn't be anywhere near the beginning of the Korn journey. Just really no need for that song to be reacted too, so many bangers they made, I have zero interest in seeing someone's reaction to that song personally, I dont get why so many want that song reacted, its just shock value. I do think it should be listened to, I just see no need for us to see a reaction of it. Just my opinion though.
Don't do it.
Old Korn, best Korn.
Hello from Chile! 🇨🇱
The band was introduced to producer Ross Robinson to work on their debut album and signed w/ Immortal Records (which signed distribution w/ major label Epic Records)
Jonathan Davis was struggling w/ drug abuse at the time ... he delved into his childhood traumas and the abuse he had suffered for lyrical inspiration on the record.
Been to so so many Korn shows and almost every show this is what the open up with!!! It’s invigorating!!! And sets the tone for the whole concert!
Happy to hear you'll be diving into this genre. Limp Bizkit gets me so hyped up when im having a rough day. Especially "Stuck" and "Break Stuff"
What you should do is hear the original first, then find the demo version of it to see how it was intended coming to fruition... try it with any band (tool, korn, limp) I.e blind-demo sounds different a bit with additional parts
This music is still here .seen korn last summer and going again this summer
Im telling you, you're one of us! 🫵🏻
My favourites as a teen. Still my favourites today as I approach my 40s
This is THE song that defines Korn, in my humble opinion. The first song on the first album, and quite possibly the first ‘nu-metal’ song ever released. Also the first Korn song I ever heard, and it blew my brain out all over! Pieces of it are still there, left back on the floor, ceiling and walls of the 90’s…
And then, just a couple of years later I heard ‘Future Breed Machine’ by Meshuggah.
Yes! bring it all back!
We play this and freak on a Leash in our cover set list and people still go crazy for them 🤘
Saw them concert with my kid a little over a year ago. The live show is next level. Freak on a Leash, Make Me Bad, Twisted Transistor, Coming Undone...bring it all!!!!
Please relive it again and again!!! Live it love it!! It's your time! I love your reaction.
The hip hop is hard in those drums. That along with the bass and guitar. BOOM!
You're killing me Mollyboy. As you say be kind and rewind... when you said oh what the fuck is that chunky bass I had to rewind it at least five times 😂😅
Korn has been my all time favorite band since 98
Welcome to Nu Metal brother the 90s was a Magical time for me and I still listen to all the Nu Metal Bands every day it literally saved my life.
Awesome reaction
i’ve been listening to Korn since i was 14 when I first heard them, in 1994. They are my favourite band tied w/ Tool to this day!
Stoked you’re into it!
much ❤from Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
Been a lead Metal guitarist for the last 30 yrs... I bleed metal... Lets do it!!!!
I'm looking forward to the live at Woodstock reaction
I just saw korn again live last last night and took my grown children. So many 20 year olds in the audience. It was amazing
You should check out some small unknown bands:
The five hundred - smoke and mirrors
The defiled - call to arms/
Metropolis/ as I drown
Also check out:
Machine head - davidian
Skindred- nobody/ratrace/set fazers/ warning (live)
Love the reactions, keep it up man 🤘🤘🤘
Twenty five years ago I was 20 years old and at my first concert.
That has since changed 🤘🤘🤘
what about limp bizkit performance ?
@@porfer2352 break stuff. Enough said lol
@@bigemetalmilitia8462 yeah break stuff was the best performance in woodstock 99
This was my introduction to Korn back in ‘94 and still my favourite Korn song to the day. This album is a masterpiece
It’s fun to see someone fall in love with KoRn like I did at age 14 in 1994 with their debut album. 30 years of being a fan & I love them more now then in the 90s. In my opinion they don’t have a bad song. Enjoy your KoRn journey.
✌🏻💚🤘🏻 it’s the only way to fly!
CAMEO: "Queen of the Damned" (2002) The singing voice of Lestat in the film was supplied by Jonathan Davis of Korn. Davis laid down the vocals for Stuart Townsend to mime to, enlisting Korn bandmates Head and Munky to play guitar, plus Limp Bizkit bassist Sam Rivers and Shankar on violin. They recorded eight songs, from which Michael Rymer picked five for the movie: Not Meant For Me, Forsaken, System, Redeemer and Slept So Long.
