Porco Galliard, Marcel Galliard, Bertholdt Hoover, Annie Leonhart, Reiner Braun, Pieck Finger, & Zeke Jaeger ARE THE WARRIORS. I'm a WARRIOR FOR LIFE!!! & this episode EXPLAINS it why!!! Fek Eren & the Paradis Eldians!
Just to clarify, Porco and Galliard are the SAME person. Galliard is his last name. So yea Marcel was the Jaw, Ymir ate him, and then Porco ate Ymir, becoming the current Jaw.
Yep. And it's unnecessarily confusing because they introduce Porco by this last name in episode 4x1 even though they don't use anyone else's last name (like any of the new candidates, or even Pieck). And then to confuse newbies even further they sometimes call him "Pock" (which is just a nickname).
Remember, back in season two when Jean was talking about how the main crew used to use Bert’s sleeping positions to predict the weather when they were trainees? The bizarre sleeping positions they’d always find him in were actually the result of the horrendous twisted nightmares he’d have every night from guilt and ptsd. The specific pose they’d found him in that morning is deliberately meant to mimic the tarot card known as The Hanged Man. This ties back to the old man who hung himself out of guilt since Bert saw himself in him - two people who are suffering because they’re haunted by guilt and desperate for judgment. Sharing as a tarot card enthusiast: Drawn right side up, The Hanged Man card is said to “usually indicate a lack of ability to help oneself through independent action. *The energy is arrested and awaiting judgment.* With this card, there is no avenue for the will to regain control until the situation has passed. This represents a good time to be philosophical, to study and *meditate upon the position you find yourself in, and to form resolutions for the moment you become free again.* ” It’s described as a card that represents a certain period of indecision, being helpless and stuck in a situation you aren’t happy in, and encourages self reflection and introspect about your position in the world and what you want from life once you make that decision. It’s honestly the perfect card to represent Berthold’s character.
I just noticed that Bert seems to have incorporated the Hanged Man's story for his own backstory. Showing of what you are saying that he saw himself in him. I never thought of Tarot card symbolism. That is such a cool detail and way more throughout than I thought.
His full name is "Porco galliard" and his brother is "Marcel Galliard" Marcel is Porco's older brother. But Reiner often calls his name as "Galliard" because Marcel is gone after being eaten by Ymir, and Ymir was eaten by Porco.
Isayamas favorite character was Jean, and eventually shifted to Reiner, incredible how connected everything is, the exact reason for 3 seasons of hell is almost forgiven in this episode alone because we feel so bad for Reiner/Bert/Annie
Reiner was the only one of his original crew that returned to Liberio, the survivors guilt he felt looking at Bert’s, Annie’s, and Marcels family must’ve been immense
Damn never realized that. He wasn't meant to be chosen for the armored titan and yet he's the only one that returned to see his family again. This is rough. Shows that being chosen for honorary marleyan is actually false "honor" if you end up dying.
Reiner got suicidal same way as the man who hanged after telling them the story of abandoning the kids. They both could not live anymore with their guilt.
I would say Marcel doomed Reiner by getting him chosen, but then saved him from Ymir. If you noticed in Episode 1 of season 4 Porco saves Reiner from the mideast guns. There's a lot in this show about people who sacrifice themselves for others and vice versa
It's actually the jaw titan thing. Think about it, first marcel sacrifice himself to riner then ymir sacrifice herself for them and *spoilers*** Then Porco sacrifice himself for Falco
Reiner story progression is sooo good. On the first episode you hate the armor titan soo much, when we find that it's Reiner we can't think of reason for him to do such things, and he was as confused as we were, just moving forward
Not many noticed but bertholdt told the same story the old man did before he hung himself, damn near same story explanation and same exact flashback but only instead of bertholdt its the old man standing at the window. Bertholdt told this story back when eren was asking both reiner and bertholdt how to use the odm gear. Also pretty dope to have a conversation between Eren Yeager and Tanjiro Kamado
Great reaction, as usual. In this episode you may find some inconsistencies due to lack of information because the content of the manga could not be fully adapted, so I mention them (no spoilers from future AOT content): - - - - - - About Kenny scene, you should keep in mind that what happens here is that the chapter of the manga that narrates what happened in this episode of the anime is not adapted as exhaustively as in the manga (something normal due to adapting all that content in a few minutes of the episode): For the five years since Berthold and Reiner smashed the gates of Shinganshina to let the titans into Wall Maria's inner territory to the moment Annie stumbles upon Kenny, the trio of Warriors have been searching for any clue that might lead them to the Founding Titan, with Annie being the one who did the most dirty work for their work. Apparently, before entering as Cadets, the Warriors managed to find out that the royal family that was publicly known as the Fritz family were not really the royal family but merely stand-ins while the true royal family (Reiss family that we all know already) was hiding in the eyes of everyone. Seeing that approaching the fake royal family would be difficult because they did not accept servants of such young ages, Reiner dismissed Annie's initial idea of attacking Wall Rose for fear that the true king would awaken the titans inside the Walls, suggesting entering as Cadets to join the Military Police. During their stay as Cadets, while Reiner and Berthold ingratiated themselves with their fellow cadets, Annie was the one who did most of their dirty work, managing to track down an elusive member of the Interior Police (Kenny) with a regular contact with the true royal family, but as soon as he caught her following him in the underground city, she pretended to be a bastard daughter that he had no knowledge of. But he was so sure that she couldn't be her daughter by claiming that she had made a promise to his prostitute sister, that tactic didn't work and she had to flee. However, in the manga this scene continues, with Kenny chasing her through the underground city until she is forced to use her titan powers to disappear (if you remember what happened in OVAs 6 and 7 (the two parts of Wall Sina, Goodbye), you will know how she did it). - In addition, in the manga it is more specified how the attack on Shinganshina really was: Apparently, Annie transformed into the Female Titan, she carried them on her shoulders as she screamed at the Pure Titans around her, so that they would follow her, but the journey from where she transformed to the vicinity of Shingashina exhausted her (because she was playing the roles of Marcel and herself in the original plan that had been designed to access inside the Wall Maria; in addition, the previous fight she had with Reiner will not help hereither). Then, when the Warriors glimpsed the Wall Maria around Shinganshina district, Reiner transformed into the Armored Titan and carried Berthold and the exhausted Annie on his shoulders. As soon as he got close enough to Shinganshina's outer gate, Reiner left Berthold there so he could transform into the Colossal Titan and smash it in order to let the Pure Titans into human territory. As Reiner watched, he became swarmed by Pure Titans and began fighting them off before noticing a stray Titan (the Smiling Titan: Dina Fritz) approaching Bertolt, who had just come out of his titan after breaking the outer gate. Strangely, the Smiling Titan ignored Bertolt, and Reiner was able to reach him and carry him and Annie to the top of Wall Maria, where he left them before going to destroy the Wall's inner gate, with no danger that a Pure Titan could kill them. - As for Reiner's father, it must be taken into account that relations between Marleyans and Eldians is completely prohibited by the Marleyan government, and apparently the worst punished are the Marleyans, since whoever committed that transgression is executed and apparently also to all his Marleyan family (that is why the fear that his family will be hanged, but he does not have to be referring to his wife and other children, but to his parents, brothers, etc.), because they consider that the Eldians are already sufficiently punished by being locked up in the concentration camps.
You guys should revisit episode 2 after watching this episode cos you will see Reiner's group blending with all the refugees. This is show how insane this anime when it comes to details and foreshadow. The real epic arc starts from here 🔥🔥🔥
This is my favorite arc of attack on titan because it displays how in a war everyone is evil or good depending on the side and eyes looking, and also display how the only thing that bring war are victims.
Been watching your AOT reaction and I must say I'm really impressed with your memory 😂,like damn you remember every little conservation that's crazy Dope reaction Would also love to see you guys react to like death note and dissect every single detail
I have a theory that the blond haired character at 11:05 (the one who is not Reiner) was created as a way to throw people off the scent that Reiner might have be the armored titan. People already saw what the armored Titan looked like in S1E2. And some of them noticed (not me though) the armored titan's spiky blond hair. But the fact that there were 2 cadets with spiky blond hair meant it couldn't be known for certain if Reiner was the armored titan.
@10:47 info about Bertholdt's sleeping position. He depicts the "HANGED MAN" from the tarot card. Remember they stole the story of the old man who took them in so they'll have an ALIBI that they're from Paradis as well after joining the corps training. That old man later hanged himself. Hajime Isayama answered this during Q&A. The cause of his weird sleeping position is him having nightmares, and Bertholdt said himself that he always had repeating nightmares of that old man who hanged himself.
So fun to see that there are two sides of this...reiner and co really did think they were saving humanity...or at least the humanity they cared about about...
A very small detail in this episode, after Riner broke the wall and Berthod turn back to human, there is a really small motion shows that the mother titan(Dina) was trying to turn left and get Berthod but she didn't!🤫 Im gonna stop right here, don't wanna be a spoiler. But as a huge fan of AOT, i've watched the whole comic, and i know this means something. Shruti and Dre, if you see this comment please take it as a foreshadowing and you will figure out what it means after you watched the whole episode in the future. You guys are a great audience!
Porco "Pock" Galliard = Current day Jaw Titan (Blonde) He Ate Ymir Marcel Galliard = Porco's Brother(Brunett), The one who saved Reiner from being eaten by Ymir and ended up being eaten instead.
did you know right ? that guy talking was eren lol , i think u didnt know it XD , didnt saw ur reaction , he is doing the same as reiner did , he come to enemy city and living the life there XD
Now that you know Reiner's backstory you should understand his motives. He's actually one of my favorite characters in AOT, even from the start believe it or not. His father is a piece of work. It's classic. You're Marleyan and not supposed to mess with the Eldians because they are beneath you, but you get an Eldian pregnant only to deny your child because he's half Marleyan and half Eldian. But, he's YOUR child! I know too many children who have been denied by their father (and sometimes mother) due to circumstances like this as well as other circumstances beyond their (the child's) control. All Reiner wanted was a family. It's so sad. Now you can see how he formed such tight bonds with the soldiers. They were tight like family. And the soldiers actually looked up to him because of his work ethic. Now just be patient with all the characters because more backstories are coming. All the warriors have a moving story behind why they do what they do. It is so easy to jump to conclusions without proper information. I'm not even going to get into the biggest story of them all. Isayama is going to mess your head up really good. Man he's a brilliant writer.
I am so sorry for everything we did. I just wanted to get back home to my father but after Reiner refused to abandon the mission, we were stuck. This does not excuse what I did, Marco... us breaching the wall, everyone who died... died a pointless death. Marlo shouldn't have been torn to pieces by Zeke..., humanity inside the walls didn't deserve this. But we also did not deserve this. If only Pieck, who always seemed to care for all of us, had come with us, maybe she would have known a way out.
