Harbor freight has this kind of a system setup I noticed this Friday for right about 40 bucks. Great video appreciate your input on how to make these cabinets better.
My dust kit just arrived today! and just got tracking from the Tacoma company ...there still in action! Thanks Alvarez for all these videos man, still helping alot of people
Thanks Rafael. I appreciate your advice and recommendations. I have the cabinet and also the Dust Deputy. I plan to call Tacoma based on your recommendation.
I use pulse-bac vacuum. Been using there 500 and 1000 for 5 yrs and they are by far the best vacuum that we have used. They are designed to clean there own filters. I have been using the 1000 series with the 20 gallon tank and it has been very good for the blast box.
This has been a killer series. I'm SO glad I found it. I WAS going to build my own cabinet and find all of the parts . . . wherever. I am now going to buy the box kit from HF as I cannot make it for that amount. If I need a bigger one in the future, I may build that one. After kitting up the HF box, I'll know how to set up the bigger one and where to find the pieces. . I'm an overkill kind of guy and after looking back through this series, the HF stuff is serious underkill, VS the overkill of the Tacoma parts, LOL! Right up my alley. Nutserts -- I have used them for years. They make SO many routine maintenance chores so much faster. AGAIN: GREAT series! It was long, but I'm glad it was, much more detail comes out when you aren't trying to get everything done in ten minutes. SURE, I probably won't do everything EXACTLY how you did it, but we all have our differences and skills. Looking forward to the chore. I am recently retired 67 y/o in Colorado. They just delivered MY new shop yesterday 12/18/2017, 23,000# of it. A 35X70 metal building at the back of our 2.3 acres. Foundation and slab is about a week old now. So sorry that the Trolls are such assholes... I'm a future RUclipsr, but after I get the shop started up. I'm a weldor, mechanic, woodworker and electronics technician. The cyclone is a serious health protector, silicosis is some bad shit, I may do a water based air cleaner AFTER the vac. I am subscribed and watching.
Rafael I just want to say I watched most of your videos and it lead me to purchase the HF Blast Cabinet along with the Tacoma Co Upgrade kit and Dust Deputy! Listen there are always jerks like Frank Moron but I found everything very helpful so thank you for YOUR time!
These videos are great. Glad I came across them prior to using the cabinet. I was smart enough to realize after looking at it put together straight from the factory it wasn't going to work worth the shit. Now it will be better than the $3k cabinets you can buy. Thanks a ton man!
Priced one in Australia today and they're $240 AU, when you bolt a bucket to a vacuum cleaner, you simply put the second bucket inside it then you fit the lid and dust deputy, then you simply lift it out to empty the second bucket, nothing goes into the first bucket, it remains empty
Just an FYI. You can buy (even at harbor freight) a motor speed control and hook it up to your vacuum to slow the vacuum motor down. Hence less wasted medium and can be variably adjusted.
So, Tacoma company says you do not need the dust deputy when using their wastegate elbow. I have an old unfiltered shop vac I was going to use. Would I be better off ditching the dust deputy and just running a newer vac using Tacoma companies wastegate elbow?
If you currently have a dust deputy you can run it if you want. All that does is prevent your vacuum filters from packing full of super fine dust. I haven't tried the Wastegate elbow yet. I have one but I haven't installed it yet. I still plan on running the Dust deputy regardless. I don't like buying vacuum filters and it won't hurt to have that insurance since I already own one.
You should of received two buckets... One could be mounted to your vac using the foam block and that bucket holds the second collection bucket. The collection bucket is removable for dumping. Other than that good video.
You mention in the video that you want the vacuum side to be on the larger port but then reduce its size to accommodate the vacuum hose. I have the full size Shop Vac brand hose and mine fits inside the port on the side. So I am not seeing how connecting the hose in the rear the way that is shown in the video produces a larger port. One of the main issues with the side port being used as a vacuum port is that the side port has no baffle which allows media to escape more easily. If you added a baffle to the side port and reduced the rear port size a bit to ensure slight negative pressure I see no reason why the vacuum hose could not be routed on the side, and it would be farther away from the blast nozzle.
The ground is only functional if it's grounded and won't help the hose/duct unless they are metal or also have a ground wire. Grounding counters static and helps to keep media in suspension.
use a 3th. bucket and bolt that to the shop vac instead, then place the two buckets into that one, and then you just lift it up when the need for emptying it arrives... following my idéa?
For the shop vac filter would using only the foam sleeve rather than the pleated style filter work or does some fine dust still get inside the vac canister when using the duty deputy?
Mike Zimmerman very little fine dust gets into the vacuum. however you want to always run a filter. It's not good for you to breathe the dust. There is always going to be dust when you blast. A foam filter will let more of the ultra fine dust blow out of the vacuum.
hi rafa, i`ll take your word for it, hahaha, don`t be mad. now seriously, i`m having trouble when sanding bondo and spackle, have burned two motors already, not good man, is this system good enough to separate the fine dust so nothing or little reach the vac can?. thanks man appreciate your honesty. pete
got a question.. my blast cabinet has a filter on the vacuum out port, looks like a lawn mower filter, as best i can tell you arn't using a filter just the enlarged baffle... did i see that right ??? thanks
Question for ya on this Dust Deputy.....I recently picked up a Econoline RA-36-1 blast cabinet that came with the a tall 100cfm canister vac and I don't know if it's overkill or not but would it benefit the canister vac's filter life adding this ? Thanks, Fred
This will benefit any vacuum's filter life. It's going to collect damn near everything in the bucket. However check your cabinet and make sure it's not designed to be a declaimer. If it's meant to reclaim good media while separating out the fine dust, the dust deputy will cause that to not work at all. Like I said it will collect damn near everything in the bucket. Heavy media and fine dust.
Alvarez Metal Works thanks for the reply back I appreciate it! this is my first time setting up a cabinet so sorry for the questions but if you have a second could you please check this link for the filter my cabinet came with and let me know what you think? Thanks! www.zoro.com/econoline-dust-collector-115-v-201768g-b5/i/G2911352/?gclid=CjwKEAjwgZrJBRDS38GH1Kv_vGYSJAD8j4DfpwEaRUS-xg0467v3Tyi0-W_gwOSmGvRD3ueYcWXyJhoCrmjw_wcB
that might be better than you rambling on and on. What I want is a minute or to watching to see if it just works or not. If you dont have the time to show a minute or to then hold off on producing this video until you have the time of a minute of demonstration. Likd i said you watch your own video and listion to your rambling.

yup. Keep in mind I made this video 6.5 years ago. Since then many Asian versions have hit the market.

Great videos man, thank you for taking time to make such an in depth video series!!!

I have an Oneida system for my wood shop .. Its a GREAT UNIT !!
Excellent video.

thebrokenbone, It's perfect for that. That's the kind of stuff we deal with at work. That's the stuff that comes out of the blast cabinet.
great! i`ll get one soon.
thanks again and take care. pete
What is the minimum size shop vac that would be recommended for the Dust Deputy and the cabinet?
got a question.. my blast cabinet has a filter on the vacuum out port, looks like a lawn mower filter, as best i can tell you arn't using a filter just the enlarged baffle... did i see that right ??? thanks
That would be correct

What a novel idea.
no deminstration? You say no time. You talk to much therefore you would have had more time.
Do you really want me to place the camera in front of the bucket and record hours of me blasting so that you can want it?
