    Eight years of my 22 year active duty US Army career time was spent with President Reagan in the White House. Not one day, not one minute of those years did I ever think America didn't have a Commander in Chief, competent and worthy of his station. I cried the day Ronald Regan died. RIP Mr. President.

      @@friendofcoal I turned 17 on January 6, 1989 and I signed for the split-option training program (basic training between my junior and senior year) and AIT after I graduate for the Army Reserves. I signed up because I wanted to serve my country and be one of the good guys. I wanted to do it under Reagan who I grew up with as a child and teenager. My parents wanted to wait until summer time, but I had made up my mind that I wanted to be a medic and I wanted to sign my papers before he was out of office. I went to basic training and came back a different person, a better version of myself for my senior year. After I graduated high school, I was in AIT at Fort Sam Houston. I eventually went from reserves to active duty in 1993 and got out in 1995. Active duty at Fort Hood was a complete waste of my time and talents. I blame the crappy leadership at 2AD. I was glad to see it disbanded in 1995. The difference between Reagan's army and Clinton's (and subsequent presidents) is incredibly different. We were prepared to win the Cold War with Reagan and to be honest, I felt I was past my expiration date with the Army when the Soviet Union fell in 1991. God bless Reagan. He was the best president we've had in modern times.

    As PRESIDENT REAGAN spoke those touching words, myself and a high school best friend were about to venture off into the world to make our mark on Life!
    I chose to follow my dads footprints and keep the family business going no matter what.
    Steve Townsend on the other hand went off to N. GA College and then off to the 82nd Airborne. 40 years later I am still pursuing the family dream. Steve, on the other hand; will be retiring this summer after serving 40 years of Active duty in the Army ; having served in a combat role at every rank he achieved from 2nd Lt to 4 Star General!
    My efforts pale in comparison to those remarkable accomplishments of General Steve Townsend . I merely showed up for work each day; the General, on the other hand, gave his entire adult life to preserve the very Freedom we enjoy each and every day.
    Someone once said;
    No Greater Gift than to Lay down your Life for that of another!
    General Townsend; by God's Grace , you are still here with us; but rest assured, in my view; you have given your ENTIRE Life for us all.
    May God always Bless You and Protect You!

    It saddens me deeply to see the politicians destroying this country. The greed, the incompetence, and the decadence. My grandfather served in WW II as a marine in the 4th division and saw serious combat and three purple hearts. My father ,myself, and all my brothers have served. I do not have faith in the coming generation because they have not been trained properly. They are generally weak and lazy. They have “Triggers” and need “time outs”. My family’s blood have been spilled and many of my brothers and sisters in arms as well. These veterans bear the wounds, and emotional trauma for the rest of their live. And the country ignores them. I weep for a once great nation. God Bless the USA, and have mercy on those whom stood the watch.

    God bless this beautiful country. Even though she might be rough around the edges but I wouldnt have it any other way. The aftermath of 911 is the true definition of what it means to be an American. Everyone came to help, they didnt see any race or religion. It was just Americans helping Americans. The way it should be. Hopefully our great nation will come together again and defend our values and way of life when the time comes.

    Reagan was right, freedom has a cost -- and the People lost it to the entire Government a long time ago.
