I owned my 1996 Mystic Cobra #1810 for over ten years before I got rear ended and sold it to someone, who still drives it. Absolutely one of my favorite cars from my childhood when they first came out, and buying one was unreal. Never had a single mechanical issue with the car. Now after not having it and seeing at least 3 local Mystics in my area that are daily drivers, I want it back!!

I had to repair one back in the day they actually weight the paint out to you and took the cups we mixed in.

My dad has one of the convertible Mystichrome terminators. Video doesn’t do the color justice it’s such a pretty car to look at in person.

I had never heard of the Mystic paint scheme till I saw one on Reddit a few weeks ago. I saw one recently for sale and thought "That's a goofy color, why would somebody do that to a nice Cobra?" Turns out I was dumb.

I was reading a while back about these cars , and one of the things that cought my attention was a ford executive had to sign off on each quart of paint for the 03 and 04 cars because it was $140.00 per quart , I don't know how true it is , but nonetheless interesting , and beautiful cars.
I had my Mystichrome repainted last summer and it cost $781 a quart.

When I was in the Navy, I knew a guy that had an ‘04 mystichrome cobra. He beat the crap out of it and didn’t care where he parked it (parking in Norfolk sucks at the pier) I always felt bad for that car.
I was the previous owner of the mystic in the video and somewhere along the line one of the owners before me left it outside and there was some damage to the clearcoat. Shame to see on a car like that.

Saleen's Extreme Rainbow is at the top of my list. $10k option vs $3.5k for Mystichrome. 03/04 SVT Cobra Saleen S281-C in Extreme Rainbow is about as rare as it gets.
How much do u think a clean 96 mystic with 50kmiles is worth today?
My grandma had one, we had to sell it after she died cause it was just too hard for my grandpa

Very good video - Wish you should cite your sources for the info on the 96's, because I know where you got it from. =)
Points missed: 1. The first Mystic was actually a 1995 Saleen S351R Speedster. Poster car for a BASF and Saleen (was not a Cobra). 2. Its not Chrome Illusion pigment, its ChromaFlair made by Flex Products. 3. Ford didnt work with BASF on Mystic until after they saw the 1995 Saleen S351R painted in a slightly lighter shade of Mystic that changed more colors, this was based around Saleen's Signature Speedlab Color palette when BASF was a title sponsor of Saleen/Allen Speedlab. Extreme Rainbow was the name of that color on the '95 Saleen. I'm an original owner of a '96 Mystic. I've been an automotive painter for 40yrs and a very easy color to spray, unlike some other flip flop colors and definitely less messy than shooting metal flake which is a totally different process. Good friend of mine works for BASF and his inside info is very interesting.
There’s another version, Ford Australia had a Mystic from 2008-2010
Lunch Ford Australia used LF mystic the same as the 96 color.

Prices will be all over the map based on mileages. Clean low mileage mystics can be had in the $15-20k range, clean low mileage Mystichromes are usually in the $30s.
I have mine insured with Grundy.Every year they appreciate the value by about 5-6%. It's up to 37,000. #178 with 27k miles. All original but for a K&N.

Both cars need some work, chips, scratches, all over it. Awesome color though.
Both are daily drivers and have a bunch of miles on them, the Mystichrome has over 100,000 on it.
Indeed, polish them then add some clear bra protectant. That paint job is too expensive to not protect as long as possible.
The Mystichrome was Polished before coming up there, drove it 90+ miles to be there to represent! I daily this a good amount including having 102k on it. ;) Cut, polished and a hand waxed. Even spray waxed again when we got there because of the 1000 bugs I encountered. 🤪 I’m also not a fan of the clear bras. Personal choice. 🤷🏼♀️
