Jagannathpur Basi is not doing well due to severe floods 2024 Bangladesh: BD Media Special Report
Bangladesh is a developing country in Asia and is often affected by floods. For example, the floods in 2004 left 9 million people homeless and nearly 1,000 people died from drowning and water-borne diseases. In 2022, Bangladesh suffered more than any other flood. Bangladesh is a very poor country and is prone to floods compared to rich countries. There is less money to spend on defense. Most people in Bangladesh don't earn enough to pay for flood insurance, so they could lose everything in a flood.
In this episode we talk to the flood affected areas of Sylhet Bangladesh and visit the houses to see the extent of the flood damage and the affected individuals and families. We also talk to local politicians about the government's response to the situation.
বাংলাদেশ এশিয়ার একটি উন্নয়নশীল দেশ এবং বন্যার ফলে এটি প্রায়ই ক্ষতিগ্রস্থ হয়। উদাহরণস্বরূপ, ২০০৪ সালে বন্যার ফলে ৯ মিলিয়ন মানুষ গৃহহীন হয়ে পড়ে এবং প্রায় ১,০০০ মানুষ ডুবে মারা ও জলবাহিত রোগে মারা গিয়েছিল।২০২২শে আরো অনেক ক্ষতিগ্রস্থ হয় বাংলাদেশের মানুষ যা অন্য বন্যার চেয়ে অনেক বেশি।বাংলাদেশ একটি অত্যন্ত দরিদ্র দেশ এবং সমৃদ্ধ দেশগুলির তুলনায় বন্যার প্রতিরক্ষায় ব্যয় করার জন্য কম অর্থ রয়েছে। বাংলাদেশের বেশিরভাগ মানুষ বন্যার বিরুদ্ধে বীমা প্রদানের জন্য যথেষ্ট উপার্জন করেন না, তাই বন্যা হলে তারা সমস্ত কিছু হারাতে পারেন।
এই পর্বে আমরা সিলেট বাংলাদেশের বন্যা আক্রান্ত অঞ্চলের এবং ক্ষতিগ্রস্থ ব্যক্তি ও পরিবারগুলির সাথে কথা বলছি বন্যার যে পরিমাণ স্তর বিনষ্ট হয়েছে তা দেখার জন্য আমরা বাড়ির লোকদের ঘুরে দেখি। আমরা স্থানীয় রাজনীতিবিদদের সাথেও কথা বলি যে পরিস্থিতি সম্পর্কে সরকারের প্রতিক্রিয়া কী।
