One of the proudest moments of our life! A country so small but has made so many gigantic stamps on the international stage. Even bobsled and we don't even have snow!😂 As our saying goes: we little but we tallawa!
I was kid back in 98" but I remember these memories forever be in my heart especially the Ian " pepe" goodison goal against Mexico at the stadium i went CRAZY! 😂
nah lie, im crying. It was such a moment and I was there for almost all the home games including that last one. There were no seats left in the bleachers, we had to stand and watch the entire 90mins but it was worth it.
A young me was in that crowd jumping, driving back to St Mary felt like an holiday. Jamaica qualified for our first (and only to date) WC. We couldn't wait to get home to celebrate again.
This era was one that I'm glad I was alive to witness. Big up Simoes and the whole coaching and technical staff! Big up every single player and the JFF staff at the time! #unforgettableera1998WCcampaign
Watching this video brings back so much memories I was a kid back then very proud then and now of my country and I love what we did and I know we can do it again true love .
Bruce Golding gave a speech to the Jamaican diaspora in Birmingham, Uk in 2008. He said that there are two moments in his life that I believes united thr whole of Jamaica that was independence in 1962 and Jamaica qualifying for France 98.
I was in Belize that time and i travelled 30 miles to see that game on TV because i had no signal or channel where i lived I'll never forget i was jumping all over my friend's verandah after that goal and we were listening about the other goals from honduras😂❤😂❤
I didn't go to the Mexico match but to all of the other home games. I watched the Mexico match on one tv and USA's match on another tv, I was so nervous.
When Jamaica qualified I couldn't believe it but I knew it was coming, was a great team Dixon goodison whitmore Burton hall gardener ,ah remember them they use to ruff up Trinidad yea them was trouble boy
I remember that campaign inside out in my early teenage years. It reached a stage in the final round where Jamaica had their backs to the wall when they went for the English born players and players like Walter Boyd and Onandi were dropped. Goal scoring in the final round was a big problem and the team had only scored 1 goal in the final round before their 5th match against El Salvador at the national stadium. After that El Salvador win things got better from there with the arrival of the English players. One thing the video didn't point out is that Jamaica would have qualified in El Salvador the week before they played Mexico at the national stadium, if they were able to maintain that lead and not give up a late equalizer. Great video though
I remember this day like it was yesterday! I decided not to go to this match due to previous experience in one of the home match. I almost passed out in the crush trying to get into bleachers, luckily the police assisted me out of the crowd! Big up the lil Brazilian, Walter Boyd and Lowe could have achieved so much more withis this team, they just lacked disciplin! NEON DEON BURTON, PAUL Hall, Shorty Malcom (S.I.P), Paul Hall, Cargill (S.I.P), so many names....
The biggest thing about this team in qualifying for the WC were not the original three English-based players. Mind you, we probably would not have qualified without Deon Burton's goals. But, think about this: Jamaica did not concede a single goal at home in the entire campaign.
Most people were saying if it wasn't for the UK players we wouldn't have qualified, but they came at the latter stage of qualification so every games along with the defeats are a part of qualification.
Pppl fainted at the last match...due to perhaps the largest crowd ever gathered at the National Stadium plus the Heat. Ppl were there from as early as the night before. Apart from the first day of independence in 1962, I don't I can't recalled seen so much ppl... Perhaps champs could argue otherwise
People may say I'm negative but I can't see our men ever going back to the world cup unless some of the ball whales especially in Kingston leave the coaches to do their jobs in peace. I remember they literally wanted do Simoes job for him, constantly bombarding the coach about who they want to play and plenty garbage.

Proud to be Jamaican
The memories smh
I feel like Craig butler is to Jamaican football now what Cpt. Burrell was
Burrell was more about Jamaica and not himself
Burrell was more about the bakery than anything
16:00 the Jamaican player running with the flag is one of the most iconic moments in Jamaican history.
This video exposed a lot!
Sweet
this qualification need to be shown more aften so the youngster can see and know that we need their support ok
