Thanks for watching!
i like how the crane got in on the action
Very nice work capturing this parade and editing. I must put this on my calendar for July '13. It's been far too long since my last visit.
I tell you, we are so fortunate to have the IRM folks doing such a great job to have so many examples of OPERATING historic pieces, most with original power in them.
Love that Burlington SD 24! Remember seeing them when I was younger. One of my all time favorite loco's!
I don't know for sure. In general the museum hopes to restore every piece of equipment in its collection. However, that goal is always subject to the amount of available volunteer labor, money, and the condition of the item in question.
It's wonderful to see that people are so dedicated to rail history. I must see this event someday. Congratulations to the folks who have done the work.
Wow a pretty impressive collection of E and F units among other locomotives!
I may have missed it somewhere! But of all the videos l watched and comments l have read l never saw any praise for the
section gangs who worked very hard and long hours. To keep the rails in great shape so we can enjoy shows like this!
So to ALL those who have worked on the tracks, and other work that sometimes may go unnoticed. l want to say Many THANKS!
For all you do. THANK YOU!!!!!!!
I love this video. Lots of vintage train's. Thanks😎
Amazing engines. Now I wish I could live there!! :D
Saw that Milw F-unit and instantly I was back in 1974 waiting on Indiana SR1 at the Erie Lackawanna crossing as symbol freight Milwaukee 76 rumbled by! Sigh...
Love those f models and old Alcos
Didn't know BN-1 had an RS3K on it. Very nice!
I loved that southern pacific locomotive
Muy bonito video y muy bien conservadas estás bellezas gracias por compartir
Awesome Video! I didn't know that the rail cranes can move by themselves. I also like that semaphore signal above that BN locomotive at 4:11.
,Freedomtower Studios
13:22 smokin like an alco!
yep
It’s an EMD that wants to be an ALCO
11:45 I can faintly hear the announcer say "here comes the zephyr!"
Nice weathering effects!

Nice! They have a lot of locos! Awsome!
The horn at 6:45, the wabco e2, that's my all-time favorite horn.
I see that the RSD-15s engine is healthy
N&W 2156 Y6a dude it looks clean 🧼
I thought it was a steam locomotive the first time I watched this video!
I volunteer at the Orange Empire Railway Museum in Southern California we may not have nearly as large a collection of operational diesels as the IRM, but we do have some nice pieces of equipment that does operate. I have a few videos up that show some of the things that the OERM has.
Love the old Burlington Northern locomotives.
Great show :) great video!
2:32 I remember that Bell from trainz
I hope that you do. This year will be the museum's 60th anniversary, so they're planning something special for this year's trolley and diesel parades.
Before it came into view, 2407 was making so much smoke I thought it was a steam locomotive.
5:57, love the horn on that one.
H-10-44 singing the song of it's people
Yep! The Illinois Railway Museum has one of the largest collections of diesel locomotives!
Good to see BN-1 & BN-3 are still operational.
I like hearing the old-style horns.
Great selection of classic American engines. The collection of carriages and "guard vans" too. 2407 making some glorious smoke or as we say here "clag" Nice Video Thanks for posting
Great! Thank you 😀
WOW!!!!! THAT AWESOME!
What a fabulous salute to American ingenuity. 😁😁
The 504 was masquerading as an ALCO
Would love to see that SD9 southern Pacific when it gets redone.
Me when I see MILW
No. #760:
Da Milwaukee Road.
Superb video buddy....bloody whicked! Cheers, John.
Congrats to the diesel department!!!!!
That horn blow at the beginning is just asking for ear problems, amazing nonetheless
N3 or P3. Yes there is a Nathan N3.
I got a chance to operate a loco like that 760 saturday. Pretty easy once you get the hang of it.
Awesone trains!
Very nice movie!
If you buy the Pentrex Program "The Ultimate Chicago". I think you are in it.
Thanks Robotechnology! I will definitely check you channel.
great parade
5:53 the Milwaukee road
I'm a train and I approve this video! :D Choo choo!!!
Someday I just have to get out here. I love the mentality of "Anything that can run, will run" opposed to "We'll run it when we need to or want to". I've been a part of an organization that was more like "We'd love to run it, but (list of things that are wrong with it) nobody wants to work on it and we don't have the money to fix it anyway".
You'll find that at any railroad museum. Remember, every time you operate a piece of equipment you're adding more wear and tear. Every machine breaks down eventually. And some cases replacement parts are not available--period. And in those cases, you either have to steal parts off of another unit (if you have one) or fabricate the parts from scratch (if you have the resources to do so).
@@dmkeenan That's true, but it's nice to see the IRM has resources to keep all this great stuff in operating condition. Its rare these days.
bro I remember watching this video
Hmm I must've been standing right next to you. Your vids look almost exactly like mine. My videos from this day should be up within the next few days.
Awesome video. Do you know if they have plans to restore each locomotive or are they simply keeping them in storage for display/special occasions without restoring?
CNW SD40-2#6847 (RS3L)
Okay i really need to know that horn MTRY 200 (The Alco RS3) has. Something about it is just my taste. I know is not an AA-2 and obviously not a Hancock.
This would be so awesome if they shut the damn bells off so you could hear those great engines..
Yeahh, I agree.
The bells sound good 😡
First of all the bell sounds great and second it’s required for them to use the bell for safety reasons.
7:53 nice beat - beat to this beat I love this beat
I miss the sound of the WC SD45's charging through town, making a run at Byron Hill
Soo Line fine
You and me both.
If you're referring to Santa Fe #92, it's stored in Yard 5 in non-operable condition.
all of these old locomotives still run....
I didn't see the Milwaukee road 37a, the union pacific 1848, or the chicago and northwestern 1689, why is this?
They have alot of switchers
10:09 they say steam locomotives cause pollution...
Sorry, I don't know. Here's the info that listed on the IRM website for this locomotive...
irm.org/cgi-bin/rsearch.cgi ?diesel=Minnesota+Transfer=200
Sorry, it's stored in Barn 19. The paint's pretty ratty, but I have no idea what it's mechanical condition is.

cool video!
How much horsepower does the chicago and northwestern 6847 have?
MIRY F7A#118C
At 6:44 gg1 in diesel form
The DDA40X is a Union Pacific engine. I was referring to Santa Fe #92, an FP45. I'm assuming that the #92 is non-operable because is is displayed outdoors with a set of stairs allowing visitors into the cab. Does look like it'll be moving anytime soon.

That gbw one looked like a avwr locomotive
No it doesn’t not even remotely you stupid fucking kid

@4:45 engine Bn-1 does it have its own tender, what is it pulling I've seen them on other dissel electric freights but was never sure it looks so similar too the engine but w/o (hood, nose)?
Jason Stroman it’s a booster, or B unit. Basically another locomotive without a cab. B units are less common nowadays because they cannot operate by themselves.
The good ol` smokin` alco
It's a good thing they stopped making alco locomotives

I'm thinking a Nathan M3
What's the difference between a gp7 and a gp7r?
My guess would be that it was re-powered or rebuilt at some point in its career.
Trainz 2 in real life
WC SD45#7525
It's pointless to go there now. No proper diesels like 5383, 92, or anything like that are running at the Diesel Days now. (Edit) 92 AND 5383 are now running again!!!!
runing a lil bit rich...
9:53 Cummins *LoL*

Does the museum have any Hancock air whistles?
Fantastic video. Thanks for sharing!
