Just got to use my Spectrum last weekend. First time with a FFM since the mid 70s. It took me about 10 minutes to become completely at ease with it and that was a one way trip for me. Just wondering if anyone has tried any of the modern car protection coatings to control fogging in a Spectrum?
Hi Robert, so glad to hear you're enjoying your mask! For defogging, we recommend any common scuba defogging agent, while some divers prefer using baby shampoo or even spit. If you have any issues, give our Sales Team a call at (714) 754-4848 or shoot them an email at : salessupport@otscomm.com and they'll help you further.
That seems like a not as good idea. Granted you still have an alternate air source right there, but if it doesn't work out for whatever reason you just exhaled which means you're going to really want a breath while you doff the mask again and stick the octo back in. I'm sure it would work most of the time but it's not how I'd want to teach the skill. Seems more likely to potentially make someone panic.
@@hoorayforhawksbills Yes, it's definitely an advanced technique. One downside to it is that you may become more negatively buoyant as you exhale. It's a technique we use as Public Safety while on the bottom. One reason we were taught this method is that the purge button can literally push the mask away from the face causing water to refill. Either way you better be holding it firmly against the face. But hey, you've got the entire rest of your life to figure it out! xD
when switching, I'd make sure the alt air is where it's supposed to be first.
Hi there! I’ve just bought a ots spectrum, heading next year to the Antartica and have to train quite a lot before that!
Thank you for the video, it helps to master your gear in and out of the water. Be prepared.

I was taught by two instructor's to use my lung capacity to purge air from the Guardian, not by the purge button.
