    Sweetwater's SoundCheck Vol. 13
Mitch Gallagher puts the Blue Hummingbird condenser microphone to the test, with help from guitarist Don Carr. The pivoting capsule on the Hummingbird makes it easy to get the perfect angle on any sound source, even in confined spaces like under a snare drum.
The Hummingbird can handle high SPLs too, up to 130dB, so it's ready for a wide range of sound sources. In the video, you'll hear Don Carr playing a Taylor 710ce acoustic guitar, recorded by the Hummingbird through Universal Audio's Apollo Twin audio interface.

Nice demo. I usually have a hard time making any clear distinction with mic demos, but this was really noticeable.

AudioAtmos After listening to a few mic "shootouts" on You Tube, it became really apparent to me, that the audio specs of RUclips audio are way too low to compare high quality mics. It would be great if the audio encoding of the videos was at the highest specs possible, and able to be played at those specs.

John Poniatowski Yeah, that's a fact. I usually take that into consideration and pretty much why I don't give mic demos much weight. But for some reason either the mic or the audio interface used (AD/DA converters) seemed to really capture the guitar nicely. I own a Blue mic and really like it.

Blue has some stage mics that I'd like to try. To see how they compare with your standard Shure mics.

Looks and sounds good, Mitch -- and by the way, you're looking dapper these days! Lean and healthy.

Clear mid range and bright but seemingly not harsh treble. The bass seems to breakup a bit when a little bit of force is applied to the bass strings, but that could have been the mic placement.
