- Bob Baffert comes into Churchill Downs looking for a record-breaking seventh Kentucky Derby victory. But the horses he thought might be there - the brilliant but sidelined Life Is Good and Preakness-bound Concert Tour - won't be in the starting gate. Still, Baffert says there is a lot to like about Santa Anita Derby runner-up Medina Spirit, who has never been worse than second. I will be the first to admit how wrong I was about this horse. It takes a special horse to hold off 3 elite horses and refuse them to pass by. Congratulations to Medina Spirit, Bob Baffert, John Velasquez, and anyone else involved.

@@valerieteti1755 I think your Rock Your World had the Churchill crud gutteral pouch infection plus I'm not so sure by the looks of him on the front of the Herald Leader he didn't have one leg shorter rhan the other up front I'd be curious to know what his feet look like but I thought he was the one to beat too until I seen the picture of him.... His breeder Ron McNally was a hell of a trainer

Congratulations you fooled us all and this was the toughest field to pick I’ve ever seen, I guess this is why we love it so much, I’ve picked the last three triple crown winners and yet I was totally lost in this one. My friend used my method, which I didn’t and she of course picked your horse, never again will I get caught up in the numbers.

I am so glad this little horse won the Kentucky Derby. I was rooting for him from the start.
HE is the best trainer ever , love him or hate him , I had hot rod Charlie , oh well onto the Preakness , hoping that bafferts horse , Concert your is running that one was my original derby pick still it was so good to see all the people out at del mar racetrack for the oaks and the derby can't wait till opening day this July

I swear to god - i was at sam.houston racetrack and i could instantly feel Medina spirit #8 would win - i tweeted it out at 2:06pm under @julliancain on twitter and tagged @kentuckyderby the other very coincidence was i was waiting in line at 3pm to bet on a different race and this mans daughter comes running up to her dad saying " dad we won number 8 won" that was before the derby at 3pm and the guy behind me in line i asked him " whos going 2 win the derby" he said i dont know and then i gut punched him with a direct hit" you need to put all the money you can on Medina because hes going to win it" he said " lol i need to study it " i said " listen to me as a matter of fact everyone listen to me ,medina is going to break from the gate and win the derby no other horse has a chance to win ,you can view the tweet if you like * that guys life will never be the same if he didnt bet him . i pushed 100% on twitter for medina demanding everyone bet it all on medina no place no show just the win . my friends REFUSED to bet medina and omg my phone wouldnt stop ringing when he won -we had placed our bets and left the park - they all knew i had bet it all on medina to win in it.

1st The press incorrectly pushed medina spirit as A LONG SHOT and 12-1 is not a long shot , anyone could have viewed medinas last race and saw the horse was quick out the gate held strong through out and MOST importantly would get aggressive to maintain a lead position -i repeat the horse clearly demonstrated aggressiveness in order to hold the lead - medina did it in the last win and if you look close medina did it in the derby -i never thought medina was the fastest horse on the track but i still thought medina would win , i went up and down the betting line screaming to the line that medina would win it with distance and no-one believed me , then. Did you happen to read the reports and why positive tests show yet the amounts wouldn’t help a flee run faster? Not saying it hasn’t been a problem but understand how small of amounts the new tests are testing. Cheers
