I hadn't expected his English to be so good! What an enjoyable peek into Denis and his wonderful persona. Broke his hand three times playing football! And he looks the part, too ... rough and tumble kind of guy ... until you get him on a bench in front of a piano.
Thank you so very much for this interview!
Dennis Matsuev is a living legend.
I imagine the six people out of 19,000 who disliked this charming and stupendously talented pianist went and slit their wrist from envy.
You are a true, genuine artist! Love that you only practiced an hour a day when you were young ---- I always believe that over-practicing is useless!!!! Thank you for existing!!!!
Denis said that talent does not have a nationality--yes, and we know that art
transcends nationality. If only we can see the day when the enmity between
our countries ends once and for all.
Love Green Leaves of Summer, Roland Petit used it in his wonderful ballet (a song version and more music of Kosma ) called Le Randez Vois. Great interview, loved it.
Arie Vardi was one of the judges on the 4th Zhuhai international Mozart Competition for Young Musicians where Elisey Mysin won the 1st prize in Piano Group A.

It'll be good DM to take lessons from best teacher Arie Vardi.
Beautiful sound on that Fazioli!
Dennis, I have such a good envy every time I see you. I have a Master's degree in piano playing and my teachers are Russian however I am nothing...I Believe my 3yo son however will win the Tchaikovsky competition someday. Just wait for us!!! lol. You are my favorite pianist.
His talking is exciting !"classic is wife jez is lover"
His conversation is genuine !
oh, he was also athlete!
I think he is just brilliant!!!!! Supreme!!!!!
I love that he already played Rachmaninoff and in deciding the last piece he says “Rachmaninoff or Scriabin, probably” Then plays more Rach! 😂👏 💪 I remember an old Piano Jazz episode where Marian Mcpartland hosts Mark Medeski and they keep playing Monk tunes! They can’t help it haha. Same here I think. ❤🎶
His voice is sooooo nice that I expect :)
19;30 Denis went nuts..awesome
Denis, please play Rachmaninov’s Prelude no.13 op 32 ty!
Your English is perfectly understandable, but all good music communicates to all languages.
I remember when Elisey Mysin was on holiday in Turkey he also spoke in English perfectly understandable and said, "Five minutes ago I build the fort and now I spend good time here in my seat."
"If the 'what' is clear, the 'how' is found/findable by itself.."
whats the title of the last song..?its written in rusian ..so is there any way it can be translated to english ?
i think its Rachmaninov prelude op23-5
+booby trap prelude op. 23 no. 5 in G minor by Sergueï Rachmaninov. It's in hebrew :)
Rachmaninov :Prelude No 5 in G minor Op 23
