Val Kilmer, Sam Shepard and Graham Greene star in this powerful murder mystery with all the style and suspense of Witness. Kilmer stars as Ray Levoi, a hotshot FBI agent who's thrust into a strange new world when he is sent to solve a murder on an Indian reservation. Hand-picked because of his part-Sioux ancestry, Levoi is teamed with a legendary older agent (Shepard) to capture a radical Indian protester. But once on the reservation, Levoi encounters the irreverent local sheriff (Greene), and the tribe's religious leader (Chief Ted Thin Elk), who knows secrets about Levoi's own lost heritage. And as Levoi's awareness of the native culture grows, so does his belief that the U.S. government has framed an innocent man.
A CRACKERJACK MYSTERY AND A PERSONAL TRIUMPH OF THE HEART
Once in a great while a film comes along that is quite unlike any other. That's this memorable film. I've seen it about 20 times.
More than just a movie. A history lesson. Fantastic lesson.
My cousins's uncle showed all of us this movie. After telling us about the second Wounded Knee.
I love this move. My tribe didn't get Recognize till 1995. We are the Jena Band of Choctaw. Mostly from Oklahoma after the Indian removal act of 1830 signed by President Andrew Jackson. His actions led to the trail of tears. But this movie was pretty unrelated.
My eldest daughter wants to see the monument in Ireland. For her end of school report. She wrote how your tribe helped the people in Ireland. She also put how they were repaying their blood debt by helping so many tribes during Covid.
Personally I never have liked how President Andrew Jackson went against the ruling of the Supreme Court when he did the Indian Removal Act. The Supreme Court recognized all Native Tribes as Sovereign Nations.
That's some serious American History right there. ❤
One of the most underrated movies in history.
From the same man who directed Coal Miner's Daughter
VERY TRUE.
looks interesting, gonna give it a try.
Agreed
True ❤
Another underrated 90s gem, I really liked it.
Exactly my thoughts, I purchased this on RUclips recently. The script & acting were excellent & as for the scenery, simply breathtaking
Graham Greene in 90's was underrated ❤
I loved this movie when I was young! Great movie! Watched it a dozen times
One of the best American Movies ever!!!🗽🇺🇸
One of my favorites of all time.
What a wonderful Father..what a blessed little boy!!❤❤
Every little boy needs their Daddy.. I still cry because my beautiful grandson has lived 11 years without one..as his biological father chose the drug.life..😢..May God continue to watch over you and sweet Weston!!❤❤
Graham Greene was great in this.
He made the film IMO.
Val Kilmer mentioned that he loved making this movie with him.
My Dad laughed at Graham Green through the whole movie. He is a great actor. All that goes down and the elder gives him the message..And lastly, "They broke my TV." I believe he played the Wakan man perfectly himself.
Once upon a time, "Graham Greene" was a very recognized name, in the US.
Badass movie 🍿🎥 ⚡❤

Trailer doesn't do this film justice. The movie really captures a feeling of desolation and desperation of life on the reservation. It's a great movie
Great movie and story of the first nations
From Australia alywarre man.

The trailer has a temp track of Vangelis' The Bounty but with a bit more "Native American" sound.
