When the director chooses you as drum major, knowing you’ve never touched this thing once in your life and he expects you to use it perfectly. This video was a big help
Thank you for taking the time to help those of us who can't understand manuals to well. or just hate them. You provide a smooth, easy to follow and clear understanding for me and my son to use our DB-90. Appreciate it very much.
That helps a LOT. I suppose I could look up the manual on line and try to find what I"m looking for, in this case it was about beats and patterns. BUT your simple demonstration got me over the line. Thanks
DUDE! I use this machine in live situations all the time but thought the instruction manual was rather ambiguous. Thank you very much! Very insightful!
I like the human voice counting the beats because I transcribe rhythms often in my head or on paper. That helps me keep my place as to which beat I am working on.
We run the out from the DB90 into our Aviom system (in ear monitors). That way the band can hear the click track, but the folks out front can't. The cool thing about the Aviom is that each member can then mix there own monitor mix. In a practice enviromement I've also just plugged the metronome into the sound board. I've found this to be a valuable tool as a drummer, that way it is a little less like herding cats...
That vocal voice is what my high school band director would use when he really wanted to emphasize that we were bad. I still hate this amazing piece of shit.
+Errin Odell Was he a piece of shit? Did he hold a competition award out the window, threaten to leave it, and then tell you that your band didn't deserve it?
Tap MEMORY, then tap WRITE once, and after that select the allocation number and tap WRITE once more. This way you won't lose the current setup if you want to save it under a different memory allocation.
Thank you very much for this video. I am thinking about buying the DB90 so me and my band can improve our live performance. Just checking to see if it is easy to use and your video makes me wanna safe some money!
Thanks a lot for this video. Much better than the manuals! :) I use this device (with Boss FS-6 Footswitch) with my cello, on my one-man cello-loop show. (Think Ed Sheeran but with a cello). I´m using the memory function to make sure I got the right tempos, and then footswitch start/stop or next memory. Anyway, thank you for this video.
Hey! I use one all the time. You can adjust the whole note, quarter, 8th, and 16th notes. It can hold 50 (I believe) tempos, and the DB-90 is apparently better, but I have personally not used the Tama metronome. C
@66Ganon yes you can. you have to use the loop function. It takes a bit to load teach tempo change, but I do it all the time for Marching Band and other situations I practice/rehearse in. Let me know if you want me to explain.
@WizXX It is possible, but you have to use the loop function. What this does play a desired number of measures at one tempo, then you can change it to a new tempo with a new number of desired measures. Each of which has to be programmed in a different memory slot. I do this all the time for marching band. Let me know if you need more detailed instructions on how to do this.
@frankmroberts Excellent review! Is the DB90 loud enough to be heard through headphones, in a gig situation? Does it cut through a rock band's sound? We need to use a metronome for our band, in order to use (sync) some loops and be right on time (maybe even using midi). We would like our drummer not to be dependent on the sound engineer for this, and we want to avoid using laptops etc.
Awesome tips and review. It's possible that someone has already asked, but do you use this metronome with acoustic drums? I am wondering if it can cut through with headphones.
Sorry I haven't used the DB90 to produce polyrythm patterns, however, I believe it could be used for that. At first blush I would say if I wanted to do that I would use my drum machine, only because it has more instruments to trigger and it would then be easier for me to hear it. I'm also not familial with the DB60's features, so its difficult for me to compare the two.
@frankmroberts, Hi, can you tell me how many own patterns can be stored in DB90's memory? 10? 20? or more? Thx in advance. You've made very useful video.. ;)
In the video it does seem not bright enought, (since I took it in a bright room), however it seems to be bright enought in my current playing environment. thanks for asking!
Can you program different tempos within a song and a specific amount of measures? I want to make a click map of songs for recording. I am not sure why it's so hard to make a metronome that one can program to do that. Many songs change tempos within the song and change again. Any help?
How do I amplify the sound through an amp so I can practice? My db 30 has a headphone jack but through my amps cd MP3 aux input the sound quickly fades
what are the type of notes volume that can be adjusted? how many tempo memories that DB90 can hold up? have you tested tama metronome? which one is better?? thanks aloottt!! :D
If I wanted to use this live, is it possible to plug my monitor mix into the ''Input'' of the DB90 to mix both monitor and click together? Thanks in advance :)
Don`t you happen to know if it`s possible to fix the DB90 battery lifetime? Because I`m forced to change a battery every 2-3 days and it`s kinda annoying. I`m getting through a hundred batteries a year. I think I should buy an adapter but anyway...
Great video. Thanks! Is it possible to write in song titles when programming a tempo? It would be helpful if you were to switch songs in the set night to night. If not, is there any metronome that has this as a feature? Tnx!
Hey , great video. I have a question though , does the db90 have the ability to change change / save BPM mid song? For example , would you be able to programme a BPM for bohemian rhapsody into it , where the BPM changes throughout?
would be nice if you stop talking long enough to accually hear the damn thing ,,good explantion though ,,, I know your a drummer and only want to hear a click ,, but others might want to hear the beat part as well bcus a click is boring to play along with for other instruments ,, just sayin
It sucks because You never know when battery is low. It reboots and voila. Now You know. No memory. I don't know who programmed this metronome but I think it was some idiot. Programming of my practice memory banks take about one hour. It's very hard to put some EPROM or internal battery like CR2025, eh :/
u need to stop blabbering !!!!!!!!!!!!!! useless yapping! review the actual metronome, not the side feature ..storing crap...thats what you need out of it! we came here to see the metronome s features in action!
Hey, speak for yourself. Plenty of people would find a lot of use in learning to program it, if they, say, need to program the met to do a tempo change in the middle of their marching band show, or something.

You know you were in marching band when the sound of these give you PTSD
Yup
@@purplecatloverrandompizza yup and no other metronome will satisfy your metronome cravings and needs
The other day I heard a marching band where the metronome was MUCH louder than the band lol.
@@phataton8206 good maybe they’ll play in time
My teacher uses it for all classes, and it gives PTSD, even tho I am not in marchingband.
13 years old, but still super helpful. Thanks, Frank!
Glad it can help!

I've had a DB90 for years and never new how to use the memory. Great machine. Lousy instructions. Thanks for the tutorial.

Felix Scott :
does the Human Voice mode only say the number ("1...2...3..."), or does it also speak the 8ths/16ths/triples ("e, and, uh...") ?

Ha! Well don't let my voice scare you. We might have had the same band director in high school!

I knew that there was something not quite right about that part. Thanks for sharing.
I used the light and memory programming last night live and it was great! Thanks again.

Very helpful as i went to another persons video before yours and it was confusing, but this video was very clear as to what to do!
Thank you so much! My future on being a Drum Major for a Drum Corps would benefit this video!
did you lol
Thanks for showing me the LIGHT!!!

Hah, and by "gig" you mean "morning worship"... which happens to be exactly why I'm watching this. Thanks for the explanation!
2:47 that just gave me severe PTSD from band camp
I think a number of us still have that....it's only been 35 years for me to try to shake that off...
Would have been nice to hear the drum part for us guitar players
good info! nice hillsong united intro and outro :) GBU !
@WizXX It is possible, but you have to use the loop function. Great video, can you program multiple times and tempos in one song? Cheers.
@sreiter11 I was wondering about this too. I think the setting [4-4] actually means two bars or 4/4.
That is why I showed how to turn the light on. Turning the light on helps a bunch. Sorry it is hard to see in the video...
@frankmroberts This information is also very helpful to know as we use Aviom in our worship band. Thanks
Sorry I have moved in the last year and don't have access to the DB90 any more. I'm hoping to get one to continue to answer questions about it.
Thanks... can you suggest a good device for setting up polyrhythms?
@frankmroberts Excellent review!

Is the speaker loud enough to hear the beeps clearly from about 6 feet away while several drums are playing together?
This is awesome! Super helpful! Thank you!
Nice demo. Can you disable the 'accent' chime?
Awesome tips and review. It's possible that someone has already asked, but do you use this metronome with acoustic drums? I am wondering if it can cut through with headphones.

How many presents can you install?
