Eye of the beholder.. I took it as just a chat and not a grilling on the fine details. I get that people want to see Dave sit down with a real Megadeth nerd and get into the weeds with stuff. Because Daves an approachable guy he's capable of having a conversation with anyone. The thing is though.. Is super duper fans don't tend to have successful podcasts or radio shows or articles in which to appear. There's a disclaimer with an interview.. Don't try to get Dave to shit talk people or bands.. Don't ask those questions and you'll do fine. As for the two things you mentioned... We know the answers for these.. Jeff was fired.. Jeff remained bitter about it for years. Jeff got sent over the edge when Dave said that Jeff was 'sick' when they went to tour Australia.. Jeff's claim is that he has never done drugs and was 'straight edge' and that didn't appreciate being used as the scapegoat for the cancelling of that tour. And blamed Dave for cancelling it because he was 'sick'.. Sick is someone whose not got their drugs to make them 'well' again. Jeff is super bitter and was passive aggressive toward Dave long before Dave spilled the beans on Jeff's willingness to engage in the wellness centers each night. Nick was asked to return to the band on several occasions. When the band came back in 04.. Nick was there. However according to Dave, Nick took issue with his Drum tech and was horrible to them in front of Dave.. Dave hated his behaviour so much that he dropped Nick.. Nick remained close with Dave after this and Dave once again asked him to return to the band in 2015.. Nick accepted and they worked on Dystopia.. Some of the demos of which... Are out there. Babylonian Ships I believe was the title used for what became Death From Within. Dave wanted it to happen, but Jr convinced Dave that Nick didn't have the chops to do Megadeth scale touring anymore.. Dave reluctantly agreed and had the difficult task of letting Nick go when he didn't really want to. Nick did take it personally he was hurt and he blamed Dave not Jr.. Because Dave is the one to call the shots at the end of the day. He did hold his tongue on it for a little while but in the last year or so of his life he did start having pops at Dave.. Cryptic ones but what was clear is he felt hurt by this dismissal.. Nick accepted the dismissals of 98 and 04 because he understood he was the reason those happened. He couldn't accept the 2015 one because he felt capable he wanted to do it and was publicly with his RUclips posts showing he still had it on all the songs. But what we don't see is what Jr saw.. Well... Tell a lie.. We do see it now.. In some of the more recent uploads of his playthoughs of Megadeth songs he did before he died. Nick is clearly exhausted and fatigued with the intense playing.. 1 pass of Holy Wars and he needs to go outside.. It's a horrible thing.. But age can bring with it some painful moments and accepting you can't go as fast or as hard as you used to is one of them.. Jr was clearly more in tune with this than Dave or even Nick was... He spotted this.. Dave probably did but thought he's just rusty and will ease back into it Daves a hard nut like that he himself would push though to get to the goal and wants that for everyone.. He believes everyone is capable of this. But Jr was right.. Nick was no at the level he needed to be to perform as many shows as Megadeth does. He wasn't up to the task of 90 minute sets. It was to much for him. Jr was so right about Nicks state that Nick passed away due to heart disease/attack. During Dystopias touring... If Nick was on the road.. Nick would have died whilst in Megadeth... On the road. Dave has said.. If that had happened he might have ended the band that day. Dave is still upset that Nick died unhappy with him.. He loved Nick he didn't want to hurt him. But Nicks family have been also not good after Nicks passing either.. Dave wanted to do something for the family and they rejected it.. They like Nick blame Dave for not having in back in Megadeth.. When it wasn't Dave that noticed or pushed for it. But Jr.. They asked Jr to be part of Nicks documentary on his life.. So it's all a little uhh confusing but time will heal. So Dave has left it well alone and kept it private. If Megadeth gets inducted into the hall of fame.. He wants Nicks family to be there. He wants Jeff to be there. He has tried to mend any broken bridges but some aren't ready for it or think being bitter forever over something in the pass isn't just a pain you carry with you willingly.. Dave knows all about carrying around past luggage.. He gave up being angry about that stuff decades ago.. Mild irritation now depending on the context.. Like oh I don't know.. Talking about Metallicas One music video for like 2 minutes when you have an hour with Dave Mustaine 😂 nah I joke. Annoyed Dave is funniest Dave.
@@PhantomDeth Thanks for the info on Nick I was really curious about that. A lot of people paint as Dave being a complete ass in that situation and I was hoping it wasn't true

Dave Mustaine lives in the deep end of the ocean.. always has been a deep thinker. Why do I say this? His eyes are the window to his soul.. gratitude to Megadeath. They called so much in their album titles alone in the 80’s..

@@PhantomDeth You rant more than Steve-O.
@@PhantomDeth Thanks for the info on Nick I was really curious about that. A lot of people paint as Dave being a complete ass in that situation and I was hoping it wasn't true
I love he's petting the dog. Dogs are awesome.
I'm not one to really talk shit but I feel like Steve-O kinda dropped the ball on this interview. Dave is an absolute legend and I feel like he deserved far better questions, but hey.. ya can't win them all.
I was so happy to hear how immediately clear it was the Dave is still going strong mentally. No slurring or slowed speech just clarity and integrity.
Dave’s like Steve-o is way better at stunts than interviewing/podcasts haha maybe Steve-o was nervous 😬 Dave mustaine is a pretty intense person lol
What the hell is wrong with stevo?
still an awkward fan, meeting super stars is hard, gotta get the fandom out of the way
@@MissyMuthaTruckiN he is usually more focused. Still love Stevo and agree with you totally.
I fumbled big time when I met Mastodon (it was a paid meet n greet and i'm not a podcaster 😂 but i couldn't think of any good questions, i just said they were awesome and i appreciated their music 😂 @@headrusted
Back on that good stuff.
@@woody8577 pcp look it up
Oof, kind of cringey episode here. Going on and about your own stories and boring the poor guy to death. Pretty boring conversation with such an interesting person.
Steveo sounds like he can't string a sentence together. It's like he needs a 10 second break to think of a question. Pretty poor. Come better prepared steveo. That was hard to listen too.
Here we see a Wolf petting a Dog.
Treasure these moments and bow down to the King himself !
(aside joking Mustaine is the reason thrash metal exists ! )
Met mustaine in 2002. He couldn’t have been nicer and more accommodating.
And that's exactly how it was in Houston, August '24
Dave is a tough interview. I wouldn’t beat up Steve O too badly on this one. I love them both.
Steve-O means well, but his goofy persona doesn't mesh well will Dave's dead pan manner. This almost resembles
the Farley/ McCartney SNL skit. LOL
You’ve gotta be kidding. Maybe Dave is a tough interview but Steve O had nothing new or interesting to ask. No excuse. I knew it would be bad but holy shit this is unforgivable.
Dave is a moody person, you could tell in some interviews, he's very cheerfull (Like recent one with Avenged bassist) and in other interviews he's totally grumpy.
No he isn't. Just don't ask him dumb about he answers everyday like "how's the tour going" or "didn't you play in Metallica"?
@@robnhood1416yep, Dave is a different breed of person and can be hard to talk to - just ask Riki Rachtman 😲
Dave Mustaine lives in the deep end of the ocean.. always has been a deep thinker. Why do I say this? His eyes are the window to his soul.. gratitude to Megadeath. They called so much in their album titles alone in the 80’s..
You misspelled the band's name 🤦🤦♀️🤦♂️
Ffs Stevo. You shat the bed here.
"Yeah the Nelwyn really butchered that one."

😂👍
This was definitely a strange interview, but Dave is very nice throughout, because he can tell that Steve-O is really nervous. Hoping for a round 2 where he's more composed.
Hey Steve, big fan here. Just wanted to let you know Jack Black loves Dio. He's one of his favs and even became friends, and Dio had a rad singing part on Kickapoo from Tenacious D's movie Pick Of Destiny!
I’m sure Dio was aware of the lyrics from the Dio song, but they still kinda make me feel sad for him
@Malevolence460 He wasn't just aware. Him and Jack Black were friends. Actually, one of Jack's favorites. Like I said, he has a part on Tenacious D's movie Pick Of Destiny. He thought it was funny/ fun. Dio rules!
I'm 11 minutes in and I don't think Dave has said a word

my childhood legend interviewing a heavy metal legend? YES PLEASE
I was waiting for Steve-o to ask Dave what his favorite color is.
"Do you like coloring books?"
😂😂😂
Bro hit some nitrous before this interview Steve O. Dave was like wtf
He hit something.
Legit 💯,the long silent pauses,
the staring into space, boy's definitely hittin more than the BlueChew. 🤔
Mustaine wants to get the hell out of there! I was looking forward to this interview, too. The look on Mustaine's face throughout! 🤣😂 The awkward pauses. 😵💫
Dave Mustaine was one of my guitar heros growing up. 💕
23:07 from Chernobyl, to cancer, to an ad is crazy. Great job Steve!
This was literally like getting teeth pulled. Zero connection between the two of you. You just struggling to come up with new questions to overcome the awkward silence….
That blue chew ad made me feel like I just got Diddie’d
Just when Steve o couldn't be more out of place with the Metallica video story, then comes Scott with the hologram question. Dave saved the moment with the dog snoring comment. Dave's camera out of focus. Steve's ads in bed and no shirt, oh my goodness. Hilarious.
Absolute shitshow.
What makes Dave even more awesome, how he treats the dog
When Dave mentioned "Musique Plus," it made me smile. You can really see the strong connection he has with Montreal. From all the Megadeth fans in Quebec, we love you, Dave! ❤
Mustaine has always been one of my favorite guitarists. Damn... I will never be that good on guitar!
I thought the Paul Stanley interview was a wasted opportunity but I wasn't prepared for this.
Usually like Steve Os interview style but i think we need to get Dave back on and have some more intereting questions! Guys had a hell of a career
I don't think Dave would want to do another Steve O interview. This was painful
This is Steve-O the fan, chatting up Dave. I love it, but it could have been a tad more involved.
To be fair, I would be nervous and in fan mode.
I love the consistency of new material Dave and team put out. Blessed that most metal acts haven't become a greatest hits tour and they still get some new stuff in their shows.
Steve-O sounds like he inhales helium before talking.
I had the pleasure of having lunch with Dave once and he was a chilled and lovely dude
Jesus, Stevo really shit the bed in this interview.
Guess he messed up and confused his BlueChew for Ex-Lax. 😂👍
Dave "The first time I did a power chord was on that gold top Les Paul"
Steve ".............................yea........................" Jeez dude. Did you not prepare any questions at all?!?!
He though he was till with Tommy Lee
Dave TOLD him SPECIFICALLY the background about how In My Darkest Hour came about and that he wrote it, THE DAY he found out about Cliff’s passing, and he STILL got the timeframe wrong!!! 😂😂😂😂
That was clearly quite rough, but we still love you Steveo!!
Keep on keeping on
This podcast is still my fav 👌
Bow down, your in the presence of greatness.

steve forgot dave no longer plays for metallica 🤣
holy shit yOU HAD DAVE M USTAINE ON !!!!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
11 minutes in and all he's done is talk about MetallicA.....Dave must've just loved that 🤣🤣
This terrible interview was worth it just for the comments. Im dying at these comments..the fact that people are legitimately pissed at Steve-O calling him out is next level comedy 😂🤣😂🤣
The comments are making this video his funniest of all time lol
@@missingmissmossyeah that escalated pretty quick...the sheer humiliation for a guy like him 😂😂 I'm starting to think he might light himself on fire as an act of penance,.. like one of those Tibetan monks but it would proly turn into another jackas stunt
This is so painful I feel for Steve 😂, honestly still enjoyed Dave’s insight on everything.
snoozefest
I think he's just nervous. Wouldn't you be? I would, it's Dave Mustaine
Dave Mustaine is one of my heroes man, love ya Dave
Meh
why? how? a guitar hero? ok. Everything else? Not so much.
@OpheliaDarkling Dave is an inspiration to everyone that's seen and lived the bottom and climbs to the top with determination and will to never give up and never accept defeat. World domination no less.
4 decades of this at the highest level. Anyone who can't understand that or respect what he's achieved is a tool.
I want to hear Mustaine, but Steve is so painfull to listen to!
Yup
yeah lot of wasted opportunity for interesting topics like 60s 70s stuff ..had he been into guitar or the occult, would've easily been a 2-3 hr segment. I don't even think he read his book 😂😂 lol was alright though. certainly not cringe.
He’s struggling because he’s genuinely in awe of Dave!
Exactly. I keep saying that to everyone. That's posting negative about Steve. I never reply to posts or post anything on RUclips. But putting Steve down like this is not cool. Dave is intimidating. I'm sure when he walks in a room. People feel his presence. He's metal royalty.
I got to meet Dave and the band back in 2012. He was extremely nice and shook my hand. Hes one of the best guitar players to see play live!
