You did? Amazing! It’s funny that the comment above is the first one that I see considering I had the overture stuck in my head all day and I love this one much more than the one on the soundtrack. How different is this overture compared to the one from Tampa? I know that there have been a lot of changes to the music since then especially with the opening number.
And the hatter was originally played by the actress who played Brooke in Legally Blonde the musical, Niki Snelson. She played the hatter in the first two off-Broadeay tryouts and the workshop of the musical. This actress, Kate Shindle, took over for the third off-Broadway tryout and eventually the Broadway production.
Advice From a Caterpillar is one of my absolute favourites! It's so clever how they used the dancers to in an abstract way to be the rest of his body!! Love it
I honestly kinda hate the ending. I really don't like that Alice just goes right back with her ex-husband. Like, the big strong man came and saved the day. Would've liked if they kept that out. Alice and chloe could've just been happy getting home and Alice could've started writing down her story and it be a huge bestseller or something.
How did he "save the day"? I mean, his Wonderland counterpart sacrificed himself, but that was a dream. The real-life Jack just kinda... showed up, and Alice decided to give their marriage another shot after essentially just having had time to reassess things.
The bridge section of "Through the Looking Glass" where Alice gets that solo about making the Hatter pay is SO much better than what's on the soundtrack album!! So glad Frank Wildhorn added that in! Saw this in 2008. One of my top 10 shows.
I can't say I like this musical plot-wise, expected something slightly different but the songs are banging, Jose Llana and E. Cornelious are AMAZING, choreography and costumes are well-thought and stunning. Also, Carly's (Chloe) voice is strong, I hope to see more of her in the future.
Right!! i could see where they were going in the 2nd act, but dropped the ball. I believe with some revising of the story, this could be an amazing revival!
Supposedly Wildhorn and Murphy are rewriting act 2 and trying to fix the book. It’s why the rights have never been released. There will hopefully be a revival with how much they’ve been working on it.
It definitely does not. This is a show busted beyond repair. It wants so badly to be The Wiz and completely misses the mark of what the Alice books are. What a waste of a clearly talented cast on lame campy schlock. Some shows deserve to fold and fold hard and this was one of them
As long as they don't do whatever the hell the British tour did. I have no idea what happened in that because it was a completely different script and songs to this.
I wish they had kept the Broadway version of this when it came to the UK. The tour was rubbish and the story changed a fair bit. it even got cancelled halfway round because the producer couldnt afford to pay the cast and crew. glad this is online to watch!
Actually it was a dispute with the sound and effects company, suddenly doubled the price for everything if i remember correctly....actually the uk version is like the fifth or sixth rewrite, the version of i will prevail from the uk version were the original lyrics
I saw a bootleg of it and overall it just felt messy. I’m sure everyone worked very hard on it but it’s hard to take a show seriously when the ensemble is screaming nonsense. I think the Broadway staging was much better in both story and direction
I enjoyed it... but honestly not one of my all time favorites. Probabaly because I felt like the story was a bit weak and the whole "adult finding the child within them" is pretty tired and overused. I liked the music but felt like the lyrics were a bit silly at times, especially when it was supposed to be a serious song, and some parts just felt really shoehorned in, like the guy who wrote the book, what was up with him? Also, felt most of the characters were pretty undeveloped. I loved the cast and staging, but felt it was otherwise lacking. I feel like the show couldn't decide between pure spectacle and a heart-felt show, and got weirdly caught in the middle.
I have mixed feelings tbh. The score is fantastic for the most part. But the book (script) is kinda rough, like certain scenes drag on for way too long while other scenes move to quickly and are given no time to breathe. The whole thing felt like a weird Wizard of Oz rip off story wise and the elements of finding ur inner child wasn’t used in a very clever or intriguing way.
I love this original version over the one we got over here, I wouldn't have minded if they didn't change a bunch of stuff for the British tour because I knew this specific script with THESE songs, then I went to see it live and I had no idea what they were singing, and I actually wasn't being illegal and recording it on my phone for once so I have no record to listen back on with a hearing friend. Prevail was basically nothing. I don't know what the hell that actress was singing. There was nothing I could look up online during the interval either. At least One Knight only had a few WORDS changed. (CV as opposed to Resume, just sounded awkward) And I was so excited for it too. =C Couldn't even buy a CD of the soundtrack so I just had to rely on YT and the site to listen to the songs.

Hi there! Does anybody knows where to find the script of this great show???
LET’S TALK ABOUT JANET DACAL
What a great overture!
I wish the version I saw when they were doing pre shows was on here. I miss the song “worst day of my life”
Love this show!! while the ending was a bit rushed I believe everything else was amazing!! two things i dont want to see changed are el gato and the mad tea party, everything else can have a bit of a revamp
