If Nintendo had enough sense to pour sand out of a boot, they’d done more collaboration with other franchises, such as Splatoon or Zelda.

    • @ApapaneNui
      @ApapaneNui 3 месяца назад +9

It really did seem weird that they have an entire promotional section of the Nookphone App, but it's only Mario clothes and furniture and no other Nintendo properties! There's some Sanrio stuff locked behind amiibo, cards, etc., but that's it.
Splatoon, Zelda, Metroid, Pikmin, Star Fox; so many Nintendo IPs they could have created items for! But I guess they'd rather wear the boots filled with sand than go through the trouble of pouring it out.

i wish they just did a few quality of life updates… it seems unbelievable they never added:
    - ability to craft using items from storage when at home
    - ability to craft multiple at a time (fish bait for example)
    - ability to use another NMT back-to-back, without returning to airport each time
    - ability to buy more than one thing at a time (in the dressing room, multiple shirts at once for example)
    - improvements to the god-awful online that requires all menus to be closed, takes forever etc.
    - just basic changes like an indicator so you can see where you are aiming with a shovel
idk, i know it’s a more relaxed game but they added so much crafting and stuff it makes sense to add in these changes as well

it feels like ACNH is just a cash grab for Nintendo. They've continued disrespecting players' passion for the game by stopping updates even though they were supposed to update for YEARS. it's really sad to see my favorite franchise get such disrespect from Nintendo

    • @Mustang_Sally_
      @Mustang_Sally_ 3 месяца назад +23

get outta here "disrespecting" sounds so entitled and jaded new horizons added so much and everyone got numb to it and they added updates two years after it released which counts as "YEARS" since it's more than one you ever think they had ideas for new horizons but are saving them for the next game? i know everyone says new leaf is better than new horizons but even the basic stuff they added was insane for someone who bloody waited in line for new leaf to come out at the nintendo NY store in 2013 the public works projects were so annoying to have to pay so many bells for now you can literally just place any item outside, sounds so lame now but it's still such a great change, so much more stuff like items and instead of the badges you'd get in new leaf they combined it with the "meow coupon" thing they did and that became the "miles" system which is used as a second currency, again these things sound so basic but to call it a "cash grab" is disrespectful to the developers who even bothered to make and stick with the franchise for so many years, they added real paths and you can choose where the villagers can live, your house can be customized from a list instead of waiting for random house pieces to appear at nook's store in new leaf, more tools than just gold or silver, the leaves MOVE on the trees in the wind! LOL four years later these things blow my mind whenever i go back to playing it and comparing to the older animal crossing games, so get out of this online bubble and appreciate the game for what it is and the big changes it brought and i didn't even mention the crafting mechanic, just wait for the next game which will be here before 2030

Hopefully it doesn’t turn into the Pokémon franchise where they have to release games every 1-2 years with lazy unfinished work.
I think ACNH had its money and quality put into it but they traded in community and legacy for customizability and convenience.

@@Mustang_Sally_yeah I love acnh bro and I’m excited for the potential of the next game because like you said, there’s so much you can do in the game I feel like that people just played it nonstop and got numb to it because they couldn’t put the game down for a year straight type of energy, I take my time with it and play it pretty much to relax lmao it legit feels like one of those classic early 2000’s GameCube games you wish was available at the time but here we are now and it’s “wah there’s not much to do in this game” when it’s only because during covid like I said they played it 24/7 into the ground and that’ll happen WITH ANY GAME even your favorite game you’ll eventually get bored of it if that’s all you play when you do and nonstop at that its inevitable, this game is 10/10 imo for what it is

I mean...the fact it was pushed back from it's original release date turned out to be an absolute amazing stroke of luck for this franchise. Not only were people playing it in their droves, it was all over YT and being covered by 'hardcore' gamers which really lifted it out of the 'niche cutesy kids game' category and firmly into the mainstream. They definitely weren't ready for that to happen, understandable in the circumstances. That period disrupted everything and I've always felt that the final drop of content wasn't originally planned that way, that it would have come out over a couple more updates, but that the fact they were behind on other key games forced their hand to push it all out and concentrate on other things. Hopefully now the franchise is in their sights as a forerunner that they want out ASAP on the back of a new console, so I'm seeing all these collabs as a positive sign they are keeping it relevant as we head into a new era.

I think we’re all forgetting just how much Covid messed up game dev and scheduling in general. I feel like the Switch being SUCH a success was completely unexpected for Nintendo because the Wii U failed so badly. And i remember a lot of the general gaming community online being very negative about the details pre-launch. The switch wasn’t as powerful as the PS and XBOX current gens, it wasn’t going to be backwards compatible, most were skeptical about the HD rumble, BOTW was set to be a launch game but had been in development purgatory for years… so many things pointed to failure. And I’m SO GLAD that the switch is as successful as it has been!
That being said, i think the reason they have (more or less) abandoned ACNH is because they’re working on the successor. I think it’s going to be more powerful so people can customize their islands without the frame rate going kaput. I feel like they’ve kept the Switch era simple and optimized, so they can recoup losses from the Wii U and invest in the next console. I’m optimistic about the future of Animal Crossing and Nintendo in general.

I’m 58 years old and I absolutely love animal crossing. The first game I had bought for me was New Leaf.
When New Horizons came out, like everyone else, I was blown away with how much we could do! It put animal crossing on a whole new level and I would argue became a close contender in terms of popularity, with Pokémon! Which is another game I love. Then we got the updates and finally the DLC. My brain was just running riot at the thought of how many DLC’s they could bring out, which I would personally be more than happy to purchase.
I just can’t get my head around the fact that Nintendo wouldn’t carry on with this? There’s such a great opportunity to make more consistent money through DLC’s! Just like sims have so many extensions that players never get bored! Why would you not do the same for players of animal crossing?
I don’t want bloody fluffy toys! I want more content to keep me busy. I’ve re-set my island about 5 times now!
It’s really disappointing and such a slap in the face to all the loyal fans of their highest selling game to date!
Oh well, might as well re-set…….again! ❤

New Horizons had so much potential to be the best game. It's still a great game, but I still find myself going back to New Leaf quite often.
The lack of updates, and seemingly care, of the game is dissapointing. I'm not asking for large content updates. but there is so much they could have done with smaller updates, crossovers, stuff like that.
Also...so many easy, QoL things that could be implimented to make gameplay easier. This is the only animal crossing game where I have been exceedengling annoyed doing certain tasks, that most definitley should be fun and relaxing.
I still love the game, and it did a lot of amazing things. And I hope they expand on the mechanics in future titles. But I've been ready for the next game for a while now, and I'm not sure if that's a good thing.

If Nintendo kept up with the updates, I would have continued to keep playing. AND they would have been able to continue with making revenue. They should have taken a page to learn from Hello Games with No Man's Sky. I STILL continue to play that since Animal Crossing was released.
Toys from Animal Crossing doesn't interest me. I'm a glitch builder. I create builds in No Man's Sky & Subnautica. Then I post those builds on my YT channel for others to enjoy & get inspiration from. If Nintendo kept up with the updates until they, if they're planning a new AC game, they would have continued to make bank, players would continued to build & share.
They should have updated the game at, least, with multiple saves to keep the interest high & the creativity flowing.
But NOPE!! All they pacify players with these days are toys that only stir nistalgia. And no further creativity.
That's my two cents in the handbag.✌

@@CrossingChannel @CrossingChannel You're right, 5 is probably overestimating. I am basing it off when they stopped updating it rather than when it actually came out - which makes it a total 7 year wait. My biggest reason is I think they are going to wait until whatever the new system is going to be- which has not been announced yet. And even once it is announced I think it will be at least a year into that system's life . As beloved as AC is it isn't exactly 'launch title' material. With all the IPs Nintendo has AC has always been on the back burner, which is a shame because it is a gem!

In defense of the Animal Crossing Lego sets coming out too late. The first Mario Lego set didn't come out until August 2020. 5 months after Animal Crossing released. As the first major collaboration with Nintendo & Lego, they probably needed to see how well it would sell before expanding to other franchises. Then of course the global event that shall not be named happened in 2020, which no doubt slowed down the whole process. This probably was the earliest those sets realistically could have come out considering when Nintendo started working with Lego.

i'd say they want to keep people who already bought the game, invested in it. that way, if/when they release the next switch, they can persuade them to migrate over, and hang on till the next game hits/ gets announced.
plus, yeah, you are right, they had no idea it was going to blow up the way it did. i probably would not have done, if we had not all been locked up at home (here in uk) the day it dropped. (i got home with my copy, to hear my dad telling me we were getting locked down. thank goodness i didnt get it on the saturday XD instead)
so many people bought copies of the game because they could let their kids safely play it. the only violence being pitfalls and wasp/scorpion/tarantula stings.
(then went on to take over the island once the kids got bored XD)

If they really want to make it more popular, just let players interact without paying Nintendo online... especially those who bought physical copies of the game, cause most of them haven't played it in a long time.

I wonder how much the second switch will cost. Does anyone have a guess what it will be?
And when is the second switch coming out?

I don't understand why people are still waiting for an update for acnh when they said 2.0 would be the last.

I haven't been playing it for almost two years. Nothing new, nothing exciting, and I haven't even finished the island to have the KK island party. I'm upset that Nintendo is just hyping up the other games that are just MID IMO, but yet, they are lowering their prices for ACNH to have more ppl play it.
If ACNH is such a game that everyone still plays, streams, and ppl have fun with it, don't we all deserve MORE upgrades than some Lego set and aquarium tour I'm nowhere NEAR these places? What's the point, Nintendo?

it’s infuriating how much money they made off this game just to stop updating it in 2021.

I play NH and NL almost every day. How much varies a lot with what I feel like and have time for.
As I already have the game and DLC, the sale didn't matter to me personally.
I don't care for Lego at all, so I'm indifferent to any AC Lego sets released. But if they announced a Lego AC game or DLC on the other hand, I'd be interested. That was what I first thought the Lego announcement was about, so I was disappointed.

I look over a year off from playing, hoping they'd release any type of update. I'm back and still enjoying the game which shows what a fantastic game it is. Giving us some new characters or decorating items would be exciting at this point, Nintendo 🙏

I haven't played regularly for a while but I've been playing daily for a couple weeks. I'm just sad the online community that made it special for me in 2020/1/2 is no longer very active, we kept each other playing. And without them I don't feel the need to play as much

I restarted in March to help my anxiety and it worked wonders, but I don’t have internet and my friends don’t play much anymore anyways so finding diy recipes and stuff has definitely become more frustrating. It’s still a soothing game but I would’ve loved another update given the potential and popularity of the game and franchise
