not everytime that happened. i do remember a...movie? Green Lantern:First flight or something like that. When the Batery on Oa been destroyed by Sinestro and that flying yellow orb,suddenly green rings started literally raining from the skies and even Sinestro called upon that as "You are generals without an army."
The fact that the ring forced him to verse the green lantern line, and giving him a suit makes it look like he was chosen for it

For everyone in the comment section complaining "That's not how a Green Lantern ring works," I completely agree with you, but I also have a theory. Later in the game, its revealed that Brainiac changed Superman's DNA to make him more resistant to kryptonite. It's possible Brainiac did the same with John Stewart's GL ring, reprogramming it so it wouldn't fly off or deactivate after John was brainwashed and started killing people. That's probably why King Shark was able to use the ring. I don't know if this is ever confirmed in-game, but that's the only way it makes sense going by the lore of the comics.
And would probably explain why the giant construct shark suddenly turned its attention to the squad. Possible that Braniac had reprogrammed the ring to extend his influence to anyone else who ends up wielding it.
As for the “not flying away to find a new host” thing, could also be a means to prevent the ring from alerting the rest of the Green Lantern Corps. Would be much more difficult for Braniac if he had to deal with hundreds of Lanterns at the same time.

There's no way the ring would allow John to do what he was doing earlier, especially with the "no killing policy". Plus, even the comic break its own rules again and again, so they're bitching for nothing.

1. You can’t just put a lantern ring on and it works. You have to be chosen.
2. The ring also detects against brainwashing and removes access to its powers.
3. You also can’t kill with a green lantern ring, only subdue.
4. When a ring wielder dies, the ring flies to the next candidate in the universe that has shown great willpower.
5. You can remove the ring normally. It’s not stuck on your finger.
6. Forcing the ring on your finger without being chosen will either result in no powers or a very painful experience until it is removed.
7. The green lantern ring doesn’t mind control you.

@DuelaDent52 Yeah Brainiac had to have done something to the ring itself. It not flying away and it corrupting King Shark is just too bizarre.
@moomo1346the game explains each member’s abilities and bodies were changed by Braniac hence why Superman is shown to be resistant to green kryptonite later on prompting Lex Luthor to form Gold Kryptonite (which does exist in comics). So the ring was pretty much altered which has happened in various comics with some characters.

Maybe this wasn’t the real lantern or perhaps a clone , which the squad killed and thus lantern ring was able to identify that there were 2 sources of its owner , the clone which died and maybe the real John Stewart is still alive in Brainiac’s ship with other justice league members

I think he really didn't actually know how to. That shark was imo the purest manifestation of him and he couldn't control it in the end. all he could do was give that out-of-control construct one command. he almost got him and his team killed

I don't know where I saw this. But somewhere during training says that imagine physical structures are easy to control, than living beings. Especially a megalodon. He wasn't able to control the animal's instinctive urge to hunt down prey, after the initial attack on the shield.

Okay here's why King Shark used the Green Lantern ring. There's a theory going on that the members of the Justice League under Brainiac's control were actually clones and I think this scene proves it. Along with Flash having his finger back after Boomerang cut it off. That ring was a replica made by Brainiac because a clone can't use the real ring. That's why King Shark was able to use the ring

GL Rings are supposed to automatically resize themselves to fit the bearer, and since the ring obviously decided Nanaue was worthy enough to use it, it should therefore have fit.

I have a theory, the reason why the ring didn’t fly away is because it sensed King shark to have great amount of will power, and being the least even person in its vicinity it let King shark wear it and use its power.
Having those cool and epic moments in the game kinda makes me feel even more sad that it failed so hard...
Look, I admit, this is not lore accurate at all...but that was so cool. Even better, I do like "King Shark does badass thing" to "OH SHIT HE REALLY CAN"T CONTROL HIMSELF GET THAT OFF OF HIM"!! Honestly, if this game had more scenes like that, super cool scenes and a far better death scene for....a certain character....I think this game could have been decent, but they just dropped the ball so many times!
I know everyone's pissed about the ring, but considering Brainiac's managed to corrupt the Justice League, I feel like he managed to corrupt the ring in the process. That's why shark went crazy when he wielded it.

If that’s how the rings worked every villain would have one. The whole reason you can’t just swipe it off a dead lantern is so someone like king shark can’t just take it off your dead hand and summon a giant shark.
Also, (an even bigger nitpick) how does King Shark know the green lantern oath? And why does it still work when he changes it to King Shark’s light?
I’ll tell you why. Bad writing.
The only real requirement was to have a strong willpower really, so anybody can use the ring if they have a strong will. Depending on the media you may immediately know the Lantern Oath upon using it, plus GL literally said it before the fight so it’s reasonable he could say it. The only 2 weird things here was why the ring didn’t immediately fly off after Gl died and why King Shark lost control of it.

I can forgive the oath as I don’t have the full context, but I can’t pretend it makes sense for a random villain to just yank off John Stewart’s ring and use it like it’s just some random new loot.
The fact the ring went against them implies it either knew they were villains, and someone writing got blue beetle and GL mixed up, or somehow Brainiac hacked the ring?? Which would be an infinitely bigger deal when him taking over earth. Either way, it’s pretty dumb.

OK, I understand people's anger in the comments but hear me out, there's reasons why this happened.
a.By SOME MIRACLE becayse king shark was worthy that the ring didn't fly away.
b. When there's an apocalypse event, the green lantern ring will abandon the no kill policy.
c. The ring not coming back to king shark is just simply because he's ignorant to know better.
This is actually the best scene in any game ever.
The so called self proclaimed all knowing “fans” who are claiming that the Green Lantern ring has always had a no kill policy clearly don’t know all because there are numerous times that policy has been broken in comics and other media (cartoons included). The rings can and have been altered in the past by various characters including the Green Lantern Batman who uses his own will to overpower the ring’s policy and make it kill in Dark Nights Metal. The game also clearly explains each hero was changed by Braniac’s process like with Superman being immune to green kryptonite. He obviously altered the ring like he altered the other heroes hence why it kills. Seems all the “true fans” clearly don’t know all about the expansive source material they claim to love.

Ok, the Ring didn’t even choose him. That totally overwhelmed him. Plus, the Ring didn’t even flew back to Oa after the killed John. The game seemed funny in some parts, but a huge disrespect to the characters. I’d pretty much label this as Non-Canon to the Arkham series.
