Let’s be Fr tang is a bad coach still living off that elite 8 run that he had nothing to do with. We can tell that now. It was all marquis. Tang should pay him NOW til he steps out of MHK.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.... NIL and transfer portal are killing college sports. And yes, expectations increase and cause fans to be upset. This also happened during this football season!

The brand new team every year just isn't sustainable.
Build your core with HS kids and use NIL $ to keep them around and maybe get 1 or 2 guys to fill holes.
The teams that have made the Final 4 or won it all tend to be teams that aren't just old, but where most of the team grew old together.

I couldn’t have said this better myself. Trying to build winning championship caliber teams solely through the t.p. nowadays is a crapshoot. Yes, coaches & teams can get lucky and it can be done (Tang’s first year) but trying to do it on a year-to-year basis and constantly reloading without any foundational players is detrimental to a program’s culture and the team’s overall growth & chemistry. Under KSU’s previous coaching regime, Weber’s most successful teams consisted of older veteran players that had endured & experienced the growing pains of inconsistency & losing before they learned how to compete & win. Gotta have multiple core players that are willing to stay with the program and grow with their coaching staffs. Baylor’s championship team back in 2021 had 3-4 core guys that were with Drew & Tang multiple seasons. Heck, even our rivals east of I-70 (KU) are struggling with this very issue, and their final four & championship teams had multi-year veterans that helped carry them. This NIL & Transfer Portal landscape is chaotic and just not good for the health, growth and sustainability of many bball programs.

Exactly. I was saying this a week ago as well. Invest in keeping the core and maybe bring in one impact guy per year where you're thin. Use NIL to retain talent.
Coach said the way to build a program is to get old and stay old. Experience and culture matter in college athletics.

In my opinion Coleman Hawkins should be next he’s robbing us of $2M and has played like garbage so far. Where’s the effort? Where’s the passion to play? Where’s the respect for the coaches? The women’s side don’t have that issue regardless of how they get paid they put forth the effort, they show passion, they show respect.
