- Shkodër is a historic city in Northern Albania. Also known as Shkodra, it is the fourth largest city in the country. Over the last few years Shkoder has experienced a face lift, making it now also attractive to spend a day or two in the city - for example coming from Macedonia, like on my trip this time.
Our walking tour starts at the Monument Luigj Gurakuqi. We will then explore the center we will see sights like the Ebu Bekr Mosque (Xhamia e Madhe), which is the largest in Albania.
We will stroll down the pedestrian street, Kole Idromeno, which offers an experience of daily life in Shkoder. We see a lot of streets and side streets in the center before we finish our tour near our starting point.

The value for money in Albania is indeed still great. I met some Australian family on the bus who had to switch from Vietnam to Albania during the pandemic and also confirmed that it's one of the most affordable places in Europe. I will see when I can travel to the south of Albania sometime and maybe find some time for hikes
What a beautiful city! I spent a lot of time in Durres, but never had the possibility to go to Shkoder.
The first time I passed through Shkoder on my way from Montenegro tu Durres. This time we made a stop - just one night but enough to see the city with this video. I now want to see more of southern Albania - maybe during another summer... Several budget airlines introduce new routes to the country so visiting should become easier.

Magdeburg indeed is high on the list together with Quedlinburg and Wernigerode nearby. Maybe around mid September I'll do a little Germany trip in the area. So far, this summer, I'm workings on some background tech to simplify subtitle production. If you can please note some places I should pass in Magdeburg, as I often run past important areas when not familiar with a place.
@@poptravelorg Very nice of you, Wernigerode and Quedlinburg are also very beautiful cities. The Start of the Center of Magdeburg begins at The Opera house. If you go down The street to "Alter Markt" you can see the City hall and in the Background the "Johanniskirche". Karstadt, Allee Center and City Carre build together the shopping centre of this city. Behind the City Carre you also can find the Central Railway Station. On the way from Allee Center to Hasselbachplatz(very cool spot you must visit) is the "Breiter Weg". If you go there, you also can find modern buildings, like the "Hundertwasserhaus", but also the middle age heart of Magdeburg. The "Kloster unserer Lieben Frauen" and the Cathedral of Magdeburg(most important building for the Town) Show the historical Part of Magdeburg together with the Hasselbachplatzviertel. Because of the big destruction of WW2 Magdeburg's Center was completely ruined and thats why you also find their a lot of "Plattenbauten" which makes the skyline of Magdeburg quite ugly for many people. So if you also want some more better architecture, you can go towards Buckau, Sudenburg or Stadtfeld Ost(districts nearby the center). For nature you can go on the island "Am Werder" to the Rotehornpark or to Herrenkrug at The border of the City. Enchanted town of the north Albania. A lot of Greek expats, probably former refugees of the Greek civil war 1946-49. I was there in 2017.
What's up with the street dogs? Seems like they are taken care of though.
Every second car is mercedes. I saw lots of nice classics.

I was here 2 weeks ago. Maybe the worst place that i saw on my on the bus/train trip around balkans. The only fun thing that i saw in Shkoder, was an horse that was eating from a garbage can on a nearby center road.
It was my first time there and we were actually having a good time there in Shkoder. Plenty decent restaurants near the hotel and even the hotel was great. Any places you can recommend on the Balkans? I traveled Vienna - Tirana last year within 6 weeks and visited / recorded almost every place also in Serbia and around in 2019.. Would be nice to find new spots
@@poptravelorg I took a look at your previous videos; you have visited almost all the places that i crossed. I spent few days in Backa Palanka (near the border Croatia/Serbia, just for the name of the town that i liked 😁 ), Dimitrovgrad (near the border Serbia/Bulgaria, a cute small city) but nothing special. Maybe i would suggest you the Macedonia Greek's region (Thessaloniki, Kavala and the island of Thasos), and the Epirus region, also in Greece, with the capital Ioannina.

@@kanu7332 my friend since he suggest only greek places he is a jealous greek because the tourism in Albania is developing year after year. I don't know where is the beauty of Thesaloniki for example because Shkodra has rivers, lake and sea also not far away from Shkodra is Theth, Razma, Vermosh. Just search on youtube for this places and compare it with Kavala or Thesaloniki ahahaha
@@andreapinchetti2258Greekistan is literally a gypc dumpster well with even more old buildings and it is actually far worst since it literally has obnoxiously asphyxinaying brown Armeno-Anatolian "Greek" (Rhomioi) who are literally gypcies running around. This is roomy and actually pleasant and kind of traditional and you can actually breathe as far as I notice in the video and you have effin' space to walk. In Greekistan there are asphyxinatingly narrow pavements that you don't even fit let alone walk with every annoying obnoxious brown balding Rhomios running like the hunted.
Greekistan is more riddled with Romani than Albania. In Albania they don't dare to lift head and are meek. In Rhomionistan they actually in fact always steal whole storages and pool places and ride into glasses with whole cars breaking them and re-annoying people by re-blasting music at inappropiate hours such as midnight because Rhomioi are literally the most mentally vnst@bl3 and emotionally destroyed meek pv$$13z.
Looks like a town in Greekistan minus the vast pedestrian traffic and the crowds pathologically crammed and overcrowding the coffee shops and taverns. Rather pleasanr due to normal circulation of traffic.
