I like 2 stroke sleds so, I'm glad ski-doo makes the expedition extreme 850. I've got a 2022 ski-doo backcountry X 850 that I snow checked a few years ago. It does good on the trails. I haven't done any backcountry sledding yet because of the area I live in has alot of corn fields.
I’ve got a hold on a Expedition Xtreme TurboR model right now, coming from a ‘17 Polaris Assault 800. Concerned about the weight and “play” factor. I’ve been modifying the Polaris to handle more work/fishing, track/gearing changes, HD torsion springs, etc. but I can still play with it when riding solo. I’m hoping the Xtreme isn’t too “old man” but handles my needs for all the other stuff I do on a sled.
You’ll likely notice the extra weight, but the 850 should perform well. I’d guess it should be able to most of your play needs. I like mine off trail, trials, powerslines etc. Haven’t tried any mountain riding yet.
@@precisionanglingYT no mountains for me. Never been probably never will. It’s trails and lakes and backwoods exploring. And fishing/hunting of course. Northern MN and Ontario to be exact. My concerns about the 900TR is weight. My concerns about the 850 is fuel range/consumption in general compared to the 900 and overall power compared to turbo. I get 120mi to a tank the way I ride with the Polaris. I’d expect the 850 to do the same and hope the 900TR would do better but I can’t find info on that. The turbo might be killing the range in which case other then 4-stroke longevity it may not be worth the extra $$.
I think you’ll be happy with your set up..didn’t see the turbo r initially. If you’re not trying to do that mountain side hill type of riding, you should be fine. My 900T gets about 12mpg. Not as good as the standard 900. I was torn between the two, but am happy with my choice.

I’ve heard all good things from the 850, on all platforms!! Seems to be a good reliable 2 stroke
Where are you located? Did you just shoot this video. Seems early for snow.
Central Maine. Filmed at the end of last season. Could have went for a ride today, we got 8” or so.
@@precisionanglingYT Ya, I heard about that. We got nothing in Ottawa, Canada.
What after market shocks are people recommending?
Someone else will have to chime in on this. I haven’t done any research on shocks yet!!
Rock
