Great review. I use mine 5-7 days a week for smoothies and protein drinks. I like that you can make small amounts of fresh peanut butter, as a jar can sit around for a while if single. Hazelnuts, oil and chocolate syrup makes the best nutella for a treat. I use a drop of dish soap with water to clean.
I also had problems with the gasket getting moldy. Amazon has replacement gaskets that fit the model BN 400, which are not found anywhere on the Ninja web page." 3 Pack Rubber Gaskets Replacement Seal White O-Ring for Nutri Ninja Blender Replacement for Ninja Auto-iQ Pro Extractor CT680 BL456-30 BL480 BL681A BL682 (3.94 inch Gaskets)" although my model is not listed, the replacement gaskets are the same size and work just fine; now I know enough to remove and clean gasket after every use. the replacement gasket kit includes a pick for removing the gasket.
That could work, thanks for the suggestion! In our experience you can still run several cycles with the dish soap, as long as it's just a drop! Thanks for the comment! - J
Thanks for this video. Peanut butter is the ultimate test for any blender and it certainly looks easier to clean than my Blendtec was after making nut butter!
I just bought it for the peanut butter. My immersion blender from Braun (metal parts) does a surprisingly good job with frozen fruit in smoothies, but obviously can't make nut butters. So I ended up buying Ninja. After watching a couple of dozen reviews, all seem to need 2 cycles for the smooth peanut butter which I don't mind. It's a small price to pay for a delicious and creamy yumminess.
What I appreciate about this channel vs a lot of the others I've seen. Is you seem to have actually read the manual and are testing the product properly. Too many channels now don't read the instructions, use the device improperly, then complain it's bad. Plus the overall vibe here isn't stiff and weird
There’s one BIG issue with this otherwise perfect blender: the gasket! It’s tricky to clean; and you MUST remove and clean it - as well as the crevice where it sits - after each use. I was not careful when I first used it because I didn’t realize how deep and hard-to-reach the channel is. So I cleaned per instructions and put it away to dry. A couple of days later it smelled like something had died in it. It was seriously disgusting. Now I use a thin but blunt instrument - much like the ones dentists use - to carefully coax the silicone gasket out of the crevice. So the trick of blending hot water with a drop of detergent works only to a certain extent.
I have another Ninja blender but you bring up something really important which makes me wonder why all blender companies seem to not mention. The gasket rubber ring thing. I to did not know it was in there because its so deep and hidden and that it should be cleaned. and no where is it mentioned. But ya, I started getting black dot like things in my smoothies (yuck) and never knew I actually had to take the gasket out which is really super difficult to do if not impossible. I ended up throwing away the blade lid because I thought the rubber of the base was coming off or something. Could not identify where the black dots were coming from. Ended up buying a whole new cup/blade part. Then it started again! And that's when I remembered the rubber gasket. So after much effort (they don't add a device to get that sucker out) I got it out only to see mold and gunk. YUCK!
Great video for demonstration. This machine is powerful to do its job, it was not "fighting" to make the smoothie. Not the best word to describe it. The peanut butter could use one last more blend. The Ninja manual also states to run with water and soap.
I would never use the canola oil. Extra light organic olive oil doesn't have any taste or smell to peak of and it more heart healthy. Or just use peanut oil.
God bless you!! Amazing video. I was searching up about the Bible and your video popped up. I wanted to say that the ninja blender sometimes require 2 blends but its such a HEAVY DUTY blender. I run mine daily for years. And everything is frozen. Fruits cubes anything i use is solid. My question is which blender at this price point, maybe even a little higher. Is better?
I have one of the fit bkenders already. I know the cups that came with mine have 4 fins or prongs to engage the blender. I’m wondering if these cups have the 4 fins also? I like that you don’t have to apply pressure for when it’s mixing.
Here 2 years later, but great video!! Could you revisit your Ninja and maybe do something with kale or spinach as well? I agree with the nut butter option, it’s kinda a pain to clean but I did your hack and it’s awesome! 😊
Just say what’s in the container and when you go to make another smoothie, just put all the smoothie ingredients help in it and spin it around in that way you don’t have to worry about scraping out every little drop of peanut butter
@@TheAverageKitchen Marc. I doubled the oil in my first batch. Don't do that. I ended up throwing up the two bites I had. It's a shame it turned out like that too. The whole thing was so smooth and creamy. I used grapeseed oil if you think that matters any. But one thing I bet will help. I shook the peanuts and oil around first to get the peanuts coated.
I think it would’ve been better without that music just as you blend, for a better review of noise levels. I only came to get a sense of how loud it is.. I read that it can be very loud. I don’t get a great sense of that with the music playing.. Or maybe have a section on the practicalities: 1. Noise levels at each setting (same on peanut butter and smoothies?) 2. Can you upgrade use by getting optional parts etc..
It’s perfect for smoothies but too noisy😅 you have to immediately wash it after using it , the blades are sharp I hurt myself first time I used it😊 but my kid is super happy with his smoothies
For successful smoothie bowls, the more frozen ingredients, the better. Had the banana been frozen, it would have come out with a consistency very close to ice cream.
It is good, however, the clips on the cup used to lock the cup into place wear down quickly requiring that you buy another cup. Be prepared to replace the cup every three months. The Nutra bullet is a better option. Only have to replace the cup every 6 to 7 months.
Love the look of it but I would never use to make peanut butter or use that cup for anything else. The design is really bad for this and makes clean up a hassle. I like my Ninja blender pro chef I have which has n opening on top and a plunger. I just open while blending and push stuff down. Plunger has a stop rim to which prevents it from hitting blades. One thing I dislike about Ninja products is they seem to go overboard on changing designs. What works before perfectly fine they change to some gimmick design. Like they think if they constantly change they'll make $ even at the expense of something that actually works perfectly.
