Ray love your sense of humor!!😀If I were a farm animal I would want to live on your farm. All of your animals look extremely healthy. Good video on your worm chow.
Thank you for the information. I enjoyed your presentation. RUclips suggested this video to me, and I'm glad. I am preparing to get my worm farm up and running soon. I'm out here, online, refreshing my knowledge, and seeing where the worm industry is at these days.
I love your video! Very informative, Thank you!! You are also very humble and share your knowledge skills and shout-outs with other RUclipsrs you learned from. I will tell everyone about your channel and business. Keep up the good work!:)
I got a mill grinder and use a drill with a 7/8" socket to turn it. I buy the oyster shell from tractor supply and run it through a couple times and turn it into flour. I had also been eye balling me some sweet feed to add to my worm mix, when I would pick up my cracked corn to feed the ducks with. Guess I'll pick up some next time and it had caught my eye specifically for the mollases. You could also replace the corn with cracked corn and help your grinder out. That's what i use for my corn when i mix some chow. Great video by the way!
Thank you! We now buy the oyster shells from Amazon, and it comes grinded really fine, definitely molasses is really good to boost your microbes they go crazy for it.
Beautiful name❤ Spanish was my first language like you😅 I’ll practice I promise!!! You’ll get the grinder I have in time. I saved up for it. I’m making chow either tomorrow or Saturday. My real name is extremely difficult to say. I’ll tell it in my next video 🤣 I’m loving your channel. Again I’m so grateful and humble that you even mention me. ❤️ If you need my help in anyway, feel free to ask. I built my own website. It was hard but I did it. If you want my email, I’ll give it to you.
Thank you so much! 😆 I really appreciate it. That grinder you have is absolutely amazing. That's our next investment, Yes! We sure will reach out to you. Thank you!
Thank you for such a fun and informative video on worm chow! And especially the rabbit manure tip at the end! I am brand new to worms and was wondering about the rabbit manure from my rabbits.
Recipe looks good. I have enough expired food in the pantry right now for the next batch of worm chow. But I will check tractor supply out for some new items. 😁🪱🪱
I found the grinder on amazon... Im building a new worm bin based on Capt Matts design so this chow will help. Does this look right? Deer Corn Sweet feed Wild bird seed Alfalfa pellets Beet pulp with molasses Chicken crumbles Oyster shell
Tractor supply has a 50lb bag of oyster shell for cheap. You have to grind it up to make the flour. I use the same grinder you have to grind it to powder. Just FYI
It all depends on what you're doing, if what you want is only castings and have a few pounds of worms, then yes. But if your main goal if to multiply your worms faster, then worm chow is recommended.
We were having problems transferring the domain to godaddy, but finally, we were able to do it. Thank you! By the way, just subscribed to your channel! 😀
Usually under the right conditions from 2 to 3 cocoons per worm per week. Now, inside the cocoons could be from 1 to over 10 worms. Basically from 500 worms you could produce a few pounds
Hi Ray, I have a question for you. How does the cost of all these bulk ingredients compare to the cost of the commercial worm chow? For instance, 1 pound of your mix versus 1 pound of commercial chow.
Based on the amount of (total) pounds between my own mix vs. the worm chow, My mix is cheaper by $40 based on 200 lbs monthly. But the greater the amount of worm chow, the greater the savings. It all comes down to the convenience of having the product already grinded ready to use basically.
No, they don't. I really would love to buy from my local feed store. Molasses are used to activate and accelerate basically the microbes and bacteria with simple sugars to boost the composting process, and worms love it
That is a good question. At my feed store next to the chicken crumbles, oyster shells are sold in 50# bags for $20. Over by the horse section they sell dried molasses in 50# bags for $15.

So, if I understand correctly equal parts all 6 ingredients with the exception of oyster shell which is ¼ part oyster shell? Or 4 parts for all 6 ingredients to 1 part oyster shell?
Which is better crushed oyster shells or crushed oyster shell flour? Will crushed shells break down ? They are not tiny. Thanks for all you teach us. You are such a help.
Thank you, worms need the oyster shell flour, they need to be able to consume it, the crushed one is too big for them, and you'll be basically wasting it. Oyster shells take years and years to start degrading.

My recipe is less and it works perfect too.. alfalfa, oatmeal, egg shield, zugar, birds food, and corn meal.
Love it! I like oatmeal, but haven't been able to find it in bulk.
Nice job 👍

Isn't the idea to use excess plants and food scraps for the worm feed and not spend money on food
It all depends on what you're doing, if what you want is only castings and have a few pounds of worms, then yes. But if your main goal if to multiply your worms faster, then worm chow is recommended.
I would also like to add that when you have more worms then food scraps you need to supplement the food too.
Thanks for explaining your name ❤

So nice of you
What is the purpose of beet pulp in the food?
Is sweet, so once you add water, the microbials really explode and worms love it

Can agricultural lime be used instead of oyster shell?
Yes, agricultural lime (dolomite) is really good at neutralizing the acidity levels on your bins.

Curious that is 4 cups of each feed? As the measuring cup yourbusing is 16 ounce size right?
