Going from Bloodborne to Sekiro is going to be a jarring experience, because not only is the combat in Sekiro the most divergent from Fromsoft's usual formula, but it's also the most narratively coherent game, while i'd argue Bloodborne is the probably most abstract. None of this is bad, I just find it a bit funny to transition directly between these extremes.
Sekiro is a great game, and I think it has the most satisfying moment-to-moment gameplay and environmental traversal of Fromsoft's catalog by a longshot. You'll have an excellent time.

Incase you did not realize, at the start of the game Gehrman was training you to grow stronger, he wanted you to stay in this nightmare and play his role so that he can get out. But as he watched you struggle and spent time with you, you grew on him. He no longer wants you to be stuck in this nightmare, he wants you to wake up and be free from this nightmare, while he stays shackled in this limbo. He refuses to sacrifice his student who he started to care about, and so he asked you to die(wake up). Gehrman is just a kind old fool who failed to be cruel. What an amazing character. And that is why that BGM during his boss fight is melancholic

The dungeons can be fun,on their own, but they do get samy at length. There are new enemies, bosses and areas to see, but at some point you will have seen nearly all they offer. Which is more often than not bloodshed and death. They are fun if you want to challenge yourself and find some new gear only to be gotten there. However, they are not structured or important.

@@JahXplosive They can be a lot of fun. Especially with the coop community or running dungeons with friends. The FRC (Fetid, Rotted, and Cursed) offerings are materials you put forth to create your own randomly generated dungeon, and they can get pretty crazy and some are just ridiculously hard. You never quite know what you’re going to get when you make those. There are I think (8 or 9?) unique bosses down in the dungeons. Supposedly (I haven't checked), the handwritten note you find at Iosefkas clinic is missing ONE crucial piece of information from the japanese text. It implies that you yourself were looking for paleblood. In anycase that is what you're looking for since the beginning of the game... Not many people have even heard of paleblood, but you can find a note at a room in the lecture building that says "The nameless moon presence beckoned by Laurence and his associates, Paleblood." This implies paleblood is the moon presence. Why would we be looking for the moon presence since the beginning of the game?

Answer to the question; why can my character ,a regular joe, murder cosmic beings.
You can think of the dream as a pocket dimension that lies outside of time and space and is the realm of the moon presence. You are fully a slave of the moon presence and the dream until the end of the game. And you're not allowed to truly die until the moon presence is done with you.
Now think of how you started the game. You weren't proficient at first, right? You tried and died, and each time you died the moon presence reaches through time and space to make you try again. Your character has the ability to make fatal mistakes and learn from them by dying over and over. He's essentially immortal and that's why he can contend with gods.

Since that Vaati video is from before the DLC, here are some further plot points to round out your understanding of what happened in BB! :) Great work by the way this was a fun watch, i hope you had fun! BB is one of the finest examples of eldritch horror media.
So the Bergenwerth peeps found the dregs and remnants of eldritch blood in the crypts below yarhnam, right? and sometime between then and the events just before your character entered the scene, Willem Micolash and Gherman found umbilical chords of great ones. The DLC actually explains how they found those pieces of chord. The bergenwerth scholars were desperately researching the old blood that they found below the city when they heard of a fishing hamlet with odd mutations that suggested there was old one contact elsewhere. They sent Lady Maria, Gherman, and presumably Ludwig to investigate. The fishing village is a reference to edgar allen poe's eldritch horror book The Shadow Over Innsmouth as well as junji Ito's The Thing That Washed Ashore. It's implied that the great one Mother Kos was an ocean dwelling great one who was left behind like ebrietas. However, Kos died of either natural causes OR a big piece of metal, maybe fishing equipment, that gutted her. She and her unborn baby washed ashore and from her came a TON of parasites. It's a subversion of whalefall- instead of massive quantities of food, the fishing hamlet got massive quantities of alien influence and power. They mutated and became hosts to her parasites and worshipped her intensely. The bergenwerth crew ravaged the town mercilessly so they could study the parasites, the villagers, and Kos herself.
It's implied that the hunters committed some kind of cardinal sin at the fishing hamlet. In my mind, they accidentally killed the still barely alive child of Kos. It's not clear if it was on accident or on purpose, but Gherman probably did it. But the umbilical chords that Micolash, Wilem, and Gerhman got is almost certainly Orphan of Kos' chord. Now, in doing all of this to Kos, her child, and her subjects within the hamlet, the hunters got a generational curse. Like I said in a previous video, Kos being dead means nothing when you're a god. She curses the hunters to fall apart and get sucked into madness, bloodlust, and eventually die and go to the hunter's nightmare and probably worsened the entire mess happening in yharnam. Ludwig ended up fusing with his horse and becoming the thing he swore to hunt. Maria, disgusted with the treatment of the villagers and the increasingly inhumane experimentation of the church and bergenwerth, ended up killing herself. Alone, Gherman mourned Maria since he was madly in love with her. The Doll is a mimic of Maria, actually, and shows how pitifully gone on her that he was. (It's creepy that Gherman made the doll after her and dressed her up that way, which is a far cry from how Maria actually presented herself.)
So that's the DLC! Another few points:
    1. Yharnam is essentially an entire city with SUPER bad alien carbon monoxide poisoning and nobody there was rational or OK. Seeing the statues of the town makes me laugh imagining these poor people high out of their minds making super creepy art.
    2. There's an implication that the old ones, to a degree, are just superpowered aliens but not gods. And there's an implication that all of the obsession with old ones is just a byproduct of the parasites (bloodborne or otherwise) trying to get humans to be eaten by old ones so they can be in their preferred hosts. Like those terrible parasites that make snails attract birds that eat them.
    3. Vicar Amelia, if you listen closely, is praying for the old blood to save and strengthen her. Pretty much the exact opposite of the 'fear the old blood' adage. The church lost its gourd over time. Also, a lot of the healing church is a power grab thing.
    4. The Cainhurst 'vampires' are actually probably the closest living cousins to the Pthumerians. The healing church hated them because their healing blood was actually safer than theirs, and the cainhursts (including lady maria, by the way. She's from cainhurst too) were already the preferred mates of the great ones. Martyr logarious probably trapped the queen because he didn't want that truth to weaken the power that the healing church had over yharnam.
There's a ton more! But hopefully this helps :)

You’re a new hunter. The dream and nightmares are due to the actions of the old hunters and Laurence. Who poisoned a populace of old yarnham to give them healing blood and when they turned into beasts they burned down the old city. This is why Laurence is constantly burning in his fight. A lot of the bosses to me are more representations of their monstrous deeds like Ludwig. Another fun thought I have is that there are no animals in yarnham. All the dogs, crows, pigs, rats or snakes were humans that transformed from using the old blood. Or there are no beasts and you’re just killing people under a hallucination

@@MattDean-o1t No problem at all, no offense taken. Its not the first time Ive upset someone with my unpopular Sekiro opinion. And it likely wont be the last. Im passionate though (as you can see from this absolute wall of guff), and I truly believe what I'm saying is right. This is the thing for me - I love Fromsoftware games and Sekiro was a massive disappointment. I tried playing it three times over three years and each time I stopped purely because of boredom. Last year I forced myself to get through it because I wanted the FromSoftware set and it was all that was left. But jeez, the enemy variation is non-existent, they are all pretty much blokes with swords. The minibosses are constant cut and paste repeats with different names. I mean it must be FromSoftware's shortest game yet so little effort was put into the enemies I felt. The voice acting is more wooden than the furniture in my living room and I couldn't have cared any less about the story. The fighting mechanic is extremely repetitive and became tedious for me very quickly. Only the bosses you needed to fight with the grapple offered any kind of fun, as everything else was just L1, R1 with an occasional button hit when a huge red on-screen prompt appears. I mean its the only fromsoftware game I can think of where a great big on screen prompt comes up each time you need to press 'x' in a fight...I mean seriously, how can this be thought of as tough? An on screen button prompt? And yes, Ive got the plats. PSN is Potrikberger if you really wanna check. I like getting plats, its what I do these days. The grind for plat is disgusting too. The skill point grind is truly awful, so yeah I gave the NG+ to my 6 year old and he finished the grind for me. He hardly ever died and basically just spammed L1. For me Sekiro is a huge online myth that people seem to enjoy re-inforcing for some reason. All I can say is that I found it incredibly easy compared to the other Fromsoft games and that is what made me so bored of it I think. I mean I died to Malenia alone more times than I did every boss of Sekiro combined over two playthroughs. Im no gaming God, I died a lot in other fromsoft games. But Sekiro, no. Not so much. L1, R1 and occasional x button. Over, and over and over and over again. For me easy and dull.

    • @richardpotticary9777

It also offers nothing in the realm of exploring the in-game world. You are hardly ever rewarded, all you ever basically get is some variation of a pill or something. I cant even remember what they were or what they did because they are practically useless. And that's because you'll never ever use them (at least I never did) because you don't need to. All you need is L1, R1 and to respond to an on-screen prompt. This was the one of the weakest areas of the game for me as its usually one of the area i Get most engrossed with when playing a Fromsoft game. There was no fun at all in exploring the world because you knew there was never gonna be a weapon to try, a new armour set to find, a new move set or new spell etc etc. None of that is in the game. Its beige. Its vanilla. Its boring.
