    Lyrics
    Put your money on me
    'Cause I can barely breathe
    Put your money on me
    Put your money on me
If you think I'm losing you, you must be crazy
    All your money on me
I'm never gonna let you go, even when it's easy
    Put your money on me
Or tuck me into bed, and wake me when I'm dead
I know that you gotta be free
But I'm never gonna let it go
If there was a race, a race for your heart
It started before you were born
    Above the chloroform sky
    Clouds made of ambien
Sitting on carpets in the basement of Heaven
We were born innocent, but it lasts a day
And baby you can give all the money away
But if there's a race, a race for your heart
    It's over before it starts
    Singing
    Put your money on me
If you think I'm losing you, you must be crazy
    All your money on me
I'm never gonna let you go, even when it's easy
    Put your money on me
Or tuck me into bed, and wake me when I'm dead
I know that you gotta be free
But I'm never gonna let it go
All my presents are broken before they're open
And the promises, the second they're spoken
    I know I've been different
    My skin keeps shedding
My mother was crying on the day of our wedding
Trumpets of angels call for my head
I fight through the ether and I'll quit when I'm dead
If you want to know who'll be there in the end
When you bury me, baby, I'll still be your friend
    Singing
    Put your money on me
If you think I'm losing you, you must be crazy
    All your money on me
I'm never gonna let you go, even when it's easy
    Put your money on me
Or tuck me into bed, and wake me when I'm dead
I know that you gotta be free
But I'm never gonna let it go
    Singing put your money on
    All your money on me
    Put your money on
I know it's not the last time
    Put your money on
    All your money on
    Put your money on
    I know it's not easy
(To put your money on me)
    ('Cause I can barely breathe)
(When you put your money on me)
When Silicon Valley's melted back into silicon
We'll find a way to survive
    Singing
    Put your money on me
If you think I'm losing you, you must be crazy
    All your money on me
I'm never gonna let you go, even when it's easy
    Put your money on me
Or tuck me into bed, and wake me when I'm dead
I know that you gotta be free
But I'm never gonna let it go
    Singing put your money on
    All your money on me
    Put your money on
I know it's not the last time
    Put your money on
    All your money on
    Put your money on
    I know it's not easy
    To put your money on
    All your money on me
    Put your money on
I know it's not the last time
    Put your money on
    All your money on me
    Put your money on
    I know it's not easy
(To put your money on me)
    (All your money on me)

While I agree the last 2 songs are fantastic the rest is very subpsar so a 2/10 is hardly and impressive record. You may prefer these 2 to evertyghin on the Suburbs but that album as a whole was waaay more solid without many weak points.

    • @salandotis
      @salandotis 7 лет назад

Of course, everyone has their own preference. And I understand what they were trying to do and succeeded overall with the Suburbs, but so many of the songs are just too boring-I honestly can't think of one song I'd like to listen to from it now, (maybe Empty Room?). For me, Everything Now has 6 out of 10 songs that I love, and at the time I remember thinking Suburbs had like 7 OK songs (one of them being The Suburbs continued, which maybe shouldn't even count for this comparison), which is 7/16, a far worse ratio than on the new album. Anyhow, sorry for the long comment. On a final note, I loved and still love 9/13 songs from Reflektor, so I guess we'll see where things go in another three years. Love to all you Arcade Fire fans.

I love how this album is making a clear - if oblique - statement about the value of commitment, and shaming people for being idiots about dating. There is such a thing as healthy shame, and we've lost touch with it. Everybodies fucking everybody, but how many people are actually happy about it?I feel like critics didnt get this about everything now. The beating heart is still there, its just not the center stage concept. Critics love to rip on AF for simultaneously having "bombast" and *the nerve* to put morality into their music, but this culture needs strong moral gestures like the theme of commitment on this fucking record right here. So glad that there are still bands that stick their neck out and speak the truth.

Crying and AF always go together for me, because I started getting into the RUclips live videos around the time when my dad was dying of colon cancer.
(He was 85 then (in 2015).Very cathartic stuff. I will probably cry at the Summerfest concert July 8 in Milwaukee (my hometown). Hopefully, not too much. This time they would be more tears of joy. I must be like the world's oldest emo or something (I'm 51). My wife thinks my reaction to the band is sweet. I will defer to her judgment on this one.

I feel like Win put more meaning into the lyrics/concepts in this album than meets the eye. The entire album has a sort of juxtaposition between very, VERY watered down sounds and a few lyrical "stingers" (I.e. creature comfort). Also, I think the music videos allude to a deeper meaning, as well as the marketing campaign. People went into the signs of life video and translated the webdings and they were highly conspiratorial in nature. Maybe this album is making fun of what is being mass marketed at all of us now, such bland, tasteless music, that also happens to be painless.

    • @friday1064
      @friday1064 7 лет назад +26

Exactly! I was observing the way Win and the band kept throwing "hip" trends (relevant in today's society) to AF fans. The other day I was thinking hmm are they being sarcastic? And if you listen beyond the songs in this album, there are lyrics that throw shade on today's mainstream. I guess only some people can interpret it that way. Recently, Win joined snapchat and downloaded that sc personalized emoji. He posted that in order to have that feature he had to agree to the terms and conditions. Those terms explained that sc will be able to store whatever you type on your keyboard. So I strongly believe the marketing put on this album is supposed to be low key sarcasm. Which is a pretty classic (sometimes cringy) move on their part. It's not the first time they have made fun of todays mainstream or american culture of course. I love them so much ugh yasss

Creature Comfort is anything but bland...
Lyrics about the obssession of being thin, self harm, trying to be famous and killing yourself, it's hardly Ed Sheeran is it?
People just want them to remake funeral.
This album has flaws (Good God Damn for example) but everything now, creature comfort & put your money on me are great.
